Vaati you forgot something in the last episode Old Hunters thought the plague spread through the right leg first _Gehrman has no right leg_ DEEPEST LORE
+MetalDrummer141 Wait a minute, I noticed something that I didn't quite understand in my last playthrough: In the room with the stairs leading to Queen Analise right after Logarius there a lot of these horseback knight statues (or armor stands - i'm not quite sure what they are). If you look closely, you'll see that each of them are missing half of their right leg (from around the knee down), but their left leg is completely normal. Seriously, go check it out. Now it makes sense to me, why they are missing half their leg.
And to take it further, exactly below the elevator is where you find Laurence's (who thought blood was the path to evolutions but instead lead to beast hood,) skull
+Treebeard of the Forest Can't tell if clever for lore's sake, or just showing that the healing church are the type of cunts who have to make everything into a pun. Like I can imagine the guy who designed the mechanism looking at his friends and going "eh? eh? get it? get it?" and the other church hunters just groan and roll their eyes.
Vaatividya: "Maria will make a fantastic prepare to cry episode." Me 6 years later: Oooh I'll watch that next! Maria's Prepare to Cry: *non existent* Me: Looks like I'll prepare to cry instead.
Fun fact, she's asking if she will ever become a great one. Robin's are grown humans, who shouldn't have anywhere else to evolve, but its possible to become an egg, or an infant great one
"I used to be nothing..." I absolutly love the diolouge of the enlarged heads. I want to know what they are seeing, feeling, what revelation they have been shown
I greatly enjoyed her and the Orphan. Two fights that didnt abuse your camera lock if you use it. Not to mention, rather fast and needing to be up on the dodge like no other.
+Ginger Dwarf I hated the lawrence fight. The arena is simply too small to fight him. I loved Lady Maria fight and the final one. The failures boss fight wasn't that special.
+Ginger Dwarf I found her so much harder than Ludwig. Mainly her last phase because of the fire that gets added to her swords. I love parrying and the fire attacks would hit you even if you parried her, which made it super infuriating for me lol.
It's awesome because the fights needs you to do something REALLY special, and you need to do it perfectly. It's easy to understand, if you want to win, you need to parry and take advantage of her low poise. There is only one way to win, but it's clear, even though it can be difficult. I think it's for this exact reason that there is mixed feelings about this one. You either like having a restriction, or you like liberty and killing your opponent however you want. Still, some of the best fights in the game are against hunters. Gascoigne, Gerhman... The two most difficult bosses of the game IMO, but the fights are so satisfaying. I was happy to see that the Old Hunters included more hunters as normal ennemies. It feels great to fight against someone that is equal to you, like Theo said.
In my opinion "The old hunters" is just as good as "Artorias of the Abyss". From keep showing us how much greater they can be while not being influenced by a publisher. Also, another great video Vaati. Thanks again.
+Ryan Carroll I feel like it was more souls like than the main game, so I enjoyed it. but I can see how some people may dislike it, as it is a strange mix between vanilla Bloodborne and the souls games. Every area in the DLC seemed completely different to one another, which is what dark souls feels like to me. But the main game seemed to either be Victorian England style [first half of the game] or Lovecraftian [second half of the game].
+xAssassin10 I liked this one so much I actually captured the fight myself... I normally dont do this sort of things but the fight was soooo very memorable. I told all of my Soulless friends how this fight had dethroned Artorias'
I like that you can actually see the fear and confusion in your characters stance during the Maria cutscene. Almost like you recognize her as what the doll is modeled after.
The DLC was absolutely incredible. Miyazaki has such vision that it makes me want to cry. I also half hate him because he never stops showing me what I truly want in a video game. As a result, my video game tastes have dwindled substantially since I played the original souls games back in the day. From is a worthy developer. I salute you, bravo!
+Dr. Oga I feel the nightmare envelops all that were part of the original beast hunts. I also feel that this may be the reason why Gehrman and his associates tried to ask for aid from a different Great One.
+draconic33 "It is said that HE was an apprentice to old Gehrman" Maybe that's just an oversight in the translation? I also can't remember what the doll is saying when she's kneeling at the grave. Might be more interesting now that we know about Maria.
+Christoph Dirnbauer hahahaha, seriously?! You guys are incredible with the stuff you find out about Ludwig's head! Let's put this in the next episode :P
+Father Gascoigne Put him to rest, perhaps? We know from the Executioners at least that members of the Healing Church take martyrdom very seriously, and Ludwig did deserve some sort of release from the Nightmare.
I'm with you, Maria has been my absolute favorite boss fight in the entire game. She's easy to parry, but if you screw up the timing, you pay for it hard. Plus, on top of everything you mentioned about how the fight progresses, I think her movements are just beautiful to watch, even as they're cutting you into a thousand pieces. I also freaked out a bit when I got her to her second phase, because her attacks are so reminiscent of the Chikage. If you read her weapon's description you'll see she is distantly related to Queen Annalise of the Vilebloods, which I think is super awesome. I always felt like there wasn't a whole lot connecting Cainhurst and the Vilebloods with the rest of the game, but now with this and some other stuff I figured out in the dungeons I'm starting to piece it together. And the doll is definitely modeled after her too. The next time you talk to the doll after beating Maria, she has a unique bit of dialogue. I don't remember exactly what it is, but it's something about shackles being unchained or something like that.
+Renn Yeah, I'm pretty sure Annalise is related to Queen Yarnham. They're both functionally immortal, which was a special trait of the Keepers of the slumbering Great Ones, of which Yarnham was queen (obviously). I'm willing to bet descendants of Yarnham are the only ones who are affected by the Red Moon hanging low, or whatever that note in Byrgenwerth says about a womb bearing a child. Annalise doesn't get affected by it because she seems incapable of bearing children anymore, but her daughter Arianna can (and does).
Something that striked me odd is that she apperantly doesn't like blood weapons. The description of the Rakuyo she threw away sais so at least. But in the fight she uses a different weapon that does exactly that. Is there some meaning behind that?
+Ma Greiner It tells us exactly how dedicated she was to preserving the secret of the Nightmare; that she would use the very weapons she despised to stop us.
I loved Lady Maria as well, Vaati. Great video, and you leave us on such a cliffhanger with the story of Lady Maria! Can't wait for you to flesh out the DLC lore some more! Big fan btw.
Do it like me and borrow a PS4 from a friend or family member for some time or for specific times each week. Best decision of my life. I have a high end PC and I never saw the sense in getting a PS4 for 1 or 2 games. Then I borrowed the PS4 from someone I know and I'm having a blast with Bloodborne. It's a lot like Dark Souls, but refreshingly different really.
If you really want to get phiosophical I think it'd be interesting to note the differences between Souls and Blood. The Souls games seem to be about fire, and how external power changes you internally. While Blood seems focused on water (and blood obviously), and how internal power changes you externally. I'm ot sure if this is intended (very well could be, knowing the games) but it's a really interesting connection between two stories.
Yeah they also have a lot of other points of contrast and difference. For example the Eurasian (European+Asian) Medieval Mythology akin to the Epics of past days in Dark Souls VS the Lovecraftian Victorian horror of Bloodborne. While both play a lot on "the ones that came before" (mythology) as well as philosophical questions of life, Dark Souls feels more stale and timeless, like a lost and aged decaying world constantly on the brink of death. It also evolves around the spirit of self-sacrifice and the lives of the many build on the power of the few. Bloodborne on the other hand has an oppressively savage tone to it. Dark and gloomy, while having concepts of transcendance and egotism (to a degree). Deception and Corruption play a big role and the euphoria of succumbing to our basic instincts. Yet they both twist reality (in DS time and space, in BB dream and waking), and they both have the same essential question at their core: about the nature of humanity, and the blurred lines between sanity and insanity/savagery. What makes a human human? To what end do we abandon this humanity? What does this abandonment help us? How does it harm us? At which point can you stop seeing a human as one? Is it the form? The actions? The thoughts? Why do humans strive to be more than they are? And how do they achieve it? Are all things just a means to an end, or is there a right and wrong way to do it? Where do you draw the line on this? All that is in both games to varying degrees. It truly is fascinating....
Please make that episode of Prepare to Cry about Maria! I know you're busy with Dark Souls 3 stuff, but now that a lot of us are done I know we're back to Bloodborne.
I wonder. If the Doll was modeled after Lady Maria, and Lady Maria was an apprentice of Gehrman, then could the Old Hunters Bone belong to Lady Maria? If you notice in the fight she does do the flash step thing that the bone lets you do. And the Doll seems to be drawn to that particular headstone(the Hunter's Nightmare) which is in the same identical place where you find the Old Hunters Bone.
+Scott L It'd also be kind of funny if when Lady Maria tells you that the dead should be well left alone that she's actually talking about Gehrman and the Doll.
+MrGrumblfix I used the lamp right after i beat Maria on new game + earlier today. And don't remember her exact wording, since i was clicking through her dialogue to level before i noticed it was new. But to sum it up she had this strange feeling or sensation that something happened. I wish i recorded it aswell, i recorded the fight i had with her on my channel for a friend to see, it's not really a good video or anything but atleast it shows i beat her today, and that i'm not making things up. lol
Can't wait for Maria's prepare to cry. Her backstory and lore are so interesting, and what's best, it also answers a lot of questions about the Doll and Gherman. Such an interesting character.
Lady Maria is this game's Knight Artorias, and to a lesser extend, Sir Alonne. The blood and fire is just so cool too. She also wields my new favorite weapon, so that's a huge bonus as well xD
0:58 Whaaat!! I didn't know that dialogue was tied to a specific attire because when I defeated him for the first time, I had the white healing church set on and assumed that everybody got that unique dialogue. That's a really nice move from From
Just beat this area, and boy does it ****** with your mind and emotional state. First there is all the insane enemies, the traps, the sorrowful patients, the depressing dialogue, confusing maze like structure, and oh yeah the fact it takes place in the one worse asylum than Arkham. This area literally *****s with your mind. I'm both impressed, and emotionally... sore like a part of me was ripped out.
+TheNinjaDC The fact that you think Arkham Asylum is that bad, when Silent Hill has been around is pretty funny, not to mention you havent heard of American McGee's Alice games, also Outlast and plenty of other games lol
Hey vaati, I have a theroy, I don't have much proof to back it just a piece of dialogue I heard. (I posted this in part one of these videos) You mentioned that you think that the hunter's nightmare may be a dream with a poorly remembered itterations of the real yharnam. I personally have come to believe that is in fact Gherman's nightmare and he is the host of the nightmare. The reason I think this is upon beating the DLC the doll said some dialogue along the lines of how she never saw gherman sleep so peacefully and how he is usually restless in his sleep. My thoughts are Gherman, being the first hunter, was the one who created the hunters nightmare as well as he is well aware of the secrets of the dream so upon completing and uncovering the truths and freeing various hunters (including his love maria) he finds peace and a weight is lifted of his shoulders hence his peaceful sleep he has afterwards. I dunno how well I conveyed my theroy as i am pretty tired and no lore expert so I can't tie a lot into it, just thought it is an interesting theory and if you agree and end up looking into it it'd be cool to see what you come up with, after all you're the one whos the expert on all this nifty lore stuff not me.
+Andrew Glenn I forgot to mention something else as well. It is on the poor rememberings of yharnam thought you had, it was that the fact gherman has been trapped in the hunters dream so long that he can barely remember the yharnam he used to know and his struggling to remember it made the nightmare look the way it does.
+Andrew Glenn This is actually a great theory. And there is proof in game to back you up. First the dialogue you mentioned is one thing. He clearly knows Laurence and Ludwig personally as he mentions them in his own dialogue. It could just be a coincidence but notice how the old Hunter armour set looks quite similar to Gehrman's? We know all Hunter attire was fashioned around Gehrman's own attire but it has long since evolved into more practical attire. So my point is, if Gehrman was to be put into the hunter's dream not long after the church closed the hunter's workshop he wouldn't know about the vast changes in armour. So the armour you see the hunters wearing could be Gehrman remembering what the hunters wore in his time. I'm sure there is more proof out there but my last and biggest nugget of evidence is the abandoned workshop. Or more specifically what you find within it. We know Gehrman connected with a great one namely the Moon Presence. How did he connect with the Moon Presence? with a Third Umbilical Cord. Who else had a Third Umbilical Cord? The school of mensis. Or again more namely its leader Micolash. Who is Micolash? The host of the nightmare of mensis. See where I'm going with this? We also know Micolash was long dead but his concense lives on in the nightmare. So even if Gehrman has perished in the Waking world he could still host the Hunter's Nightmare.
Yeah man, I'm not educated enough on Bloodborne lore to get what I'm thinking across the best but you basically did it for me haha. I also have the thought that the reason Gherman sleeps peacefully is the death of maria, she is no longer plagued in the nightmare. The idea of the hunter attire is a good addition to the theroy and it makes sense that the nightmare would hold the secrets of brygenwerth as he had strong ties to the school. What we do know is the nightmare requires a host (or so it seems with micolash) so I'm sure someone we have heard about lore wise is hosting it. I don't believe is willem as he is awake at brygenwerth. It more than likely isn't laurence as he is now a beast. That to me leaves Gherman and Caryll and I've yet to find any connections with caryll. The dialogue you hear when gherman sleeps isn't him begging to be awoken form the hunters dream but in fact when he sleeps he ends up in the hunters nightmare? What if, to deal with hunters who have gone drunk off of blood were put in the hunters nightmare by gherman to get rid of them as there was no way for him to hunt them all. That can add some tragedy to Maria and Ghermans relationship for sure. OR what if the pact gherman has with the moon presence is that the blood drunk hunters are transported to the nightmare by the moon presence and in return Gherman will watch over the dream and send new hunters on the hunt. I'm just spilling thoughts out and like I said don't have much evidence myself nor the sleuthing skills to get any but I think it's kinda cool and I never read any theory like it thus far.
while wearing the church dress I find Ludwigs words deeply moving. the voice actor did an outstanding job in such few lines. there is joy and suffering in his voice. like the rest of the game, this is pure art
"some bookcases for example, have pressure plates in front of them. which when pressed trigger the bookcases to attack you. That's a sentence i never thought I'd say" grand archives intensifies
That Maria fight makes me wonder why video games aren't that awesome all the time, damn. That looked incredibly cool. And Maria is really intriguing character after, like...some build-up and a single cutscene. Really gotta hand it to Fromsoft. Also, thanks for doing this. I don't have a PS4, so no Bloodborne for me. It's nice to see the story and overall journey presented with so much care. c:
Anyone feels that FROM (Hidetaka Miyazaki) is influenced more and more of not just thr manga "Berserk" but Castlevania too? Both Simon Belmont and Maria are major characters of Castlevania, and the design of Cainhurst Castle (and the clothing of the vileblood set) truly feels as one of fitting as a Dracula castle incarnation, and also the two whip-weapons that exists too. And regarding Berserk, the whole area around Ludwig looks like the area when the Eclipse starts emerging in the Manga and Anime. You can even see a scene directly taken from the Manga, if you stand right beside the skinned corpse banging on the iron bars just before Ludwig and look through the bars, you see that that corpse represent Griffith in his struggle to reach to emperor over his own kingdom. That scenery is also in the anime too btw. Great Video Vaati btw, keep em` coming!
have you ever read novels by hp Lovecraft the setting in the fishing hamlet is similar to one of the books I read in the past idk which one thought "Lovecraft. Without going into too much detail, it's clear that Bloodborne owes a lot to cult horror author H.P. Lovecraft." fro ign
Maria was such an amazing boss. I agree with you Vaati, Hunter bosses are amazing, because you fight someone who was trained and slayed beasts much like yourself, not flail about and smash the prey. And the way i see Maria, the way she fought was very elegant and smooth, and she is by far, My Favorite boss in Bloodborne.
From one storyteller to another I must empathetically say, your work is fantastic! You give such gravitas to each story and clear up implications that enrich the gaming experience. Thank you. It is a pleasure to watch.
16:42 - I’ve always taken Gehrman’s lack of interaction with the doll as him lacking insight to see her as anything more than a motionless plain doll as we first see her in the dream. After all, he tells us not to think too hard on any of this and to just go out and kill beasts.
Maria has one of the most badass movesets throughout the game. When she adds blood to her strikes they’re stronger but when she adds fire to them as well, sweet Jesus it’s a masterpiece of flashiness and strength
I fucking love the Souls games' Duel boss fights. it feels like you're challenging a hero for his honor and title. Old Dragonslayer, Sir Allone, Lady Maria, Lord Gwynn, they're always so much fun.
yeah she does i got that aswell, once you beat the infant of kos and still haven't finished the main story, she has new dialogue aswell, mentioning Gherman able to sleep better.
Bloodborne's getting better and better.I wish they make more DLC with lovecraft aspect on it maybe a different location or a different city so the game may explain how much the influences the healing church has.
Love the start of that fight with Vaati stepping back for like 10 seconds before splitting blades and trying a dodge. Some very cinematic boss fighting, which I imagine was by chance.
+VaatiVidya hey the elevator where you insert the pendant you can go underneath it and recive the skull of the cleric beast and the healing church cannon
+VaatiVidya hey vati in case you dont know if you talk to the doll after defeating lady maria the doll says something which further cements her being inspired by lady maria
+Matt Stephens i assume you have ps+? You should be able to retrieve your save file from the cloud service that comes with ps+. I'm pretty sure it automatically uploads all of your safe data to the cloud so you should be able retrieve it from there. Just go to settings -> save data -> upload from ps+ storage space (my ps4 is not in english so some of that stuff might be a bit differently named).
+Agenthan14 Swad My doll never said anything new =( I think it was maybe because I had already killed the wet nurse, so her dialogue for the end boss fight overrode it, possibly. Hopefully the next vid will cover the dialogue I missed out on :D
Remember the dialogue from the beginning? "Curse the fiends, their children too. And their children forever true" So, the nightmare is the Curse that they're referring to and if the speaker is Maria than its pretty clear that Maria did something to summon Kos (or just came upon an encounter with them) and created a pact that birthed the Nightmare for all the Hunters (As ironic as it would be; Maria watching over the floundering Church Patients while Gehrman shepherds the hunters). Though I'd have to wonder why she would hate the hunters since she admired Gehrman... Or maybe perhaps she felt jealous in the same way for his attention... My theory would be that Maria for some reason (either because of her Cainhurst heritage or even because of her admiration for Gehrman) detested hunters for becoming drunk with blood. Since we found no Umbilical Cords... I don't know how she came upon Kos though... though I think that the Living Failures that the Church were designing to act as Emissaries to commune with the Great Ones had something to do with it. She managed to commune with Kos, but for some reason did not end up having the same relationship that Gehrman created with the Moon Presence that trapped him in the Hunter's Dream... or perhaps she did since their presentations are similar with Maria and Gehrman only emerging when they felt their enemy was getting too close to something. I might be overthinking this... if anyone else has shared this idea than I'm backing it.
Something I just noticed about Maria: her weapon is comprised of two blades, one small and one large. Kinda like how a clock has two hands, one small and one large.
Vaati, underneath that elevator is a secret. If you raise it and go back, there's another floor, which rewards you with a special church cannon and you get a lore item, which you will find helpful for Prepare to cry.
As Jeppe Kjærgaard mentioned Maria's blades for the clocks hands, I find the similarities between that image with her transition into her third phase in front of the clock, reminiscent of the collapsing sun, seen clearest when fighting Orphan of Kos. How interesting that Lady Maria is practically a Saint others embark on pilgrimages toward. Like the living failures shortly before her.
+Lord Zuko 5 new bosses,8-9 new locations, new enemies, new weapons, new armor sets, new spells. it may not be too long, but it sure is the best dlc out of all the Souls
The Orphan of Kos is my favorite boss because it literally gets the idea of Bloodborne perfectly. Fast paced, very small openings, healing with attacks and just all around making you have to fight aggressively or get heavenly punished for it
As i was preparing for my first time in the DLC i was finishing up some stuff in the core game. So eventually i went to hypogean gaol and made an interesting observation by accident, which i later found out to be of some interest by a coincidence. As i made my way up to the lantern at the altar, in the hall with the two snatchers, i noticed a small amygdalla pinned to the wall next to it. As i watched it a bit closer, i noticed that one Arm was missing. As a matter of fact the description of the hunter weapon you can obtain in the DLC, says it to be something ripped from a lesser amygdalla. I suppose there is not much more to read into this than being a curious little detail, but it kind of makes me wonder how it came to be that a hunter would slay an amygdalla and utilizing one of the arms of his prey as a weapon. Also thank you VaatiVidya for all the great work you have done and hopefully will continue to do in the future.
+mjtechnoviking44 Actually if she ripostes you she does a "kiss of death" esque visceral attack, she stabs you, gives you a peck on the cheek, and then swiftly yanks her knife/hand back out to give you a quick, clean death. Very kind is Lady Maria.
Seriously dude...... Your voice combined with all this wisdom and motivation you have for Bloodborne(not excluding darksouls and what not) is truly....truly Amazing! Love your work.
Dear Sir VaatiVidya, Please do a prepare cry on Maria. Add more prepare to cry videos on bloodborne. I am very much interested in all of them. I dont have the game yet, (i will soon, i plan to have my own ps4 because of this game) but i do love the lore. And I have always watched these Lores from your channel. Please sir, I would like some more! Thanks for making these vids. They are amazeballs!
I absolutely love how you do these videos, Vaati. Watching your hunter back away slowly as you simply say "Lady Maria" gave me the best kind of chills. Can't wait for the rest of these parts!
+Dick Deepinsideher the Celestial Emissary are just Kin dude, they're the results of human experiments just like the Failures, only closer to "alien" physical appearances
Ale DG Because they're classed as "great one bosses", not all of the "great one bosses" are actual Great Ones. Of course, Miyazaki could turn around and say that the Celestial Emissaries are in fact Great Ones despite being told to be Kin due to human experimentation, but y'know, I'll eat my words then.
+Thank Ydu GARGD You can be kin and still be considered a great one, solely for the reason of you being great enough to evolve and communicate with the naturally great ones. As long as your "great", know what I'm sayin
Having played through the whole game, including the DLC, I think I can say Lady Maria was my favourite fight, I think the fact that at the end, as well as the rush of victory, I also felt sad that I'd have to play through again to fight her again. Also, that music... Just perfect.
@VaatiVidya, if I can ask, why didn't you ever make a Prepare to Cry for Maria and Ludwig? Just not enough material? Or did others beat you to it and you don't feel you would add more beyond what they've already covered? Regardless, love your videos...They breathe life into the story of games that struggle to effectively deliver their brilliant story to the general audience.
I think it's interesting that Lady Maria's weapons are a short blade and a long blade, like the hands of a clock.
Holy shit
That's actually a sick idea. If that is true than the symbolism is so hard that we may not have even found it all.
And L2 is a spin.

2021 and no video
So glad someone agrees with how awesome the Maria fight is. Obviously it's not as difficult as Ludwig, but it's just such a great fight.
me too bro it's one of my favorites bosses in the game
I never noticed how Eileen says "Hoonter" it's so soft and relaxing in a world where chaos is the usual I want it as my text ringtone
A hoonter must hoont
"Maria is going to make a fantastic prepare to cry"
Well?
In my opinion "The old hunters" is just as good as "Artorias of the Abyss". From keep showing us how much greater they can be while not being influenced by a publisher. Also, another great video Vaati. Thanks again.
+xAssassin10 Going to run a strawpoll on this question, if you're interested! I put it in the description
I think you are right! Love this DLC so far
+xAssassin10 Honestly I found this DLC extremely disappointing.
Well said.
Same.
Maria has the Old Hunter Bone effect perpetually.
Look at where you find the Old Hunter Bone.
Notice where the Doll kneels.
Coincidence?
The Old Hunter Bone is the bone of a particular first hunter's apprentice. So that grave is supposed to be Maria's.
+meihinoki I never thought about that. But it would make a lot of sense. However, in this case, why is she in Kos's nightmare? :\
+Dr. Oga
I feel the nightmare envelops all that were part of the original beast hunts.
I also feel that this may be the reason why Gehrman and his associates tried to ask for aid from a different Great One.
+Dr. Oga Her physical body is dead. Her consciencne is alive in the nightmare.
+draconic33 "It is said that HE was an apprentice to old Gehrman"
Maybe that's just an oversight in the translation? I also can't remember what the doll is saying when she's kneeling at the grave. Might be more interesting now that we know about Maria.
If you do NOT kill ludwig's head and come back later, you will find him dead with an arrow in the eye! D:
+Christoph Dirnbauer hahahaha, seriously?! You guys are incredible with the stuff you find out about Ludwig's head! Let's put this in the next episode :P
+VaatiVidya If you're wondering, the arrow is from the Harrowed Hunter. It's strange why he would bother to kill the head of ludwig.
+VaatiVidya the guy who killed him was simon
+Father Gascoigne Put him to rest, perhaps? We know from the Executioners at least that members of the Healing Church take martyrdom very seriously, and Ludwig did deserve some sort of release from the Nightmare.
Justin Lee That's true. But Simon within himself is a very mysterious character.
Finally, my very specific dream of my characters head being turned into eldritch space broccoli will be realized!
This is my favourite comment of 2015!
I thought she is related to queen yarnam? The final boss of the chalice dungeon
+Darth Yoda I could not agree more with you, I also think the doll is similar to maria, the same voice and accent too, I would say...
Where's Maria and Ludwig's Prepare to Cry videos??
Or Gherman's.

I loved Lady Maria as well, Vaati. Great video, and you leave us on such a cliffhanger with the story of Lady Maria! Can't wait for you to flesh out the DLC lore some more! Big fan btw.

So are we ever gonna get prepare to cry's for Maria and other characters in Bloodborne? Just curious.
Nah. He left ua
+MLG anime tits he left what?
He left this series when DS3 came out
well ds3 got bled dry I'm more interested in what I CAN'T play
You know Maria is probably one of the best bosses in all of the three games. See totally deserves her own Prepare to Cry
Oh my god your RIGHT!
+Scott L I know for a fact something goes on between the doll and Maria, cause i got some special dialogue from the Doll after i beat Maria.
+Scott L It'd also be kind of funny if when Lady Maria tells you that the dead should be well left alone that she's actually talking about Gehrman and the Doll.
+Stephan Engelen tell me please ? :D
Some say Vaati is talking about the Lady Maria prepare to cry to this very day.
That's a really nice move from From
vatti please come back go bloodborne and finish off a few thing's it gives you more longevity also
Hes probs waiting for dark souls 3 hype to die out, lets just hope he goes back to bloodborne and doesn't move onto to something like the surge :l
Still waiting ? Because i still am.

Nerver got that Marias prepare to cry 😢 im missing that series truly
I'M STILL FUCKING WAITING FOR THE PREPARE TO CRY ABOUT LADY MARIA!

you're theatrical shots and clips are superb, and your talent is greatly valued. Well done, Vaati.
Lady Maria's prepare to cry is the new Elden Ring
4:57 That is not Eileen. Clearly...it is Salad Fingers.
+Logan Hopper I don't feel its equal footing however, I can't fly up and have magic blood/fire blades. I wish I fucking could but nah
That'd make the game less fun if you could fly.
Logan Hopper What are you talking about? That slimy fuck Orphan of Kos wouldn't know what hit him.
+AwesomePhantomPig That and when I used her blades, they kind of suck, no extended blood animation either. So hardly equal footing.
+Logan Hopper The great thing with this fight is that it feels like you're dancing with her and the first one to make a mistake is done for.
Take notes bungie, this is a good DLC!
Even Phil Spencer agrees!
+Phil spencer Sadly i'm thinking that bloodborne will only have 1 DLC like dark souls. they're choosing Quality over quantity.

+Phil spencer Boy I sure love the multiplayer maps this DLC offered. Oh wait whats that? There isn't a competitive multiplayer? K bye.
+Dick Deepinsideher Absolutely, couldn't agree more. I'd love to see how they top Maria. :D
Maria has one of the most badass movesets throughout the game. When she adds blood to her strikes they’re stronger but when she adds fire to them as well, sweet Jesus it’s a masterpiece of flashiness and strength
5:26 Vaati: it was the closest the series has had to a stealth based level.

I fucking love the Souls games' Duel boss fights. it feels like you're challenging a hero for his honor and title. Old Dragonslayer, Sir Allone, Lady Maria, Lord Gwynn, they're always so much fun.

+GENER CAP Nah its another dialogue she says.
She will say something about feeing like some shackles have been broken if I remembered right.
yeah she does i got that aswell, once you beat the infant of kos and still haven't finished the main story, she has new dialogue aswell, mentioning Gherman able to sleep better.
+Stephan Engelen damn, my doll only says "Gherman awaits you at the foot of the great tree"
Have fun with the Orphan of Kos. That thing is insane.

And their children forever true"
So, the nightmare is the Curse that they're referring to and if the speaker is Maria than its pretty clear that Maria did something to summon Kos (or just came upon an encounter with them) and created a pact that birthed the Nightmare for all the Hunters (As ironic as it would be; Maria watching over the floundering Church Patients while Gehrman shepherds the hunters).
I love how you ended the Video with the "sound of water" keep up the good work :)
Vaati you should be a director of hollywood damn your editing skills and the soundtracks you choose makes me cry
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS SO MUCH
Didn’t expect a Destiny burn but there you go
Something I just noticed about Maria: her weapon is comprised of two blades, one small and one large. Kinda like how a clock has two hands, one small and one large.
Vaati, underneath that elevator is a secret. If you raise it and go back, there's another floor, which rewards you with a special church cannon and you get a lore item, which you will find helpful for Prepare to cry.
+Colby T whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat. I thought about doing this..but never got around to it...
+Colby T *SPOILERS* Take that key item to the cathedral where the flaming cleric beast is for some interesting interactions
I think i might prefer this DLC to the main game, weapons and armour sets too!
It is sad that it is bloody short.
+Lord Zuko 5 new bosses,8-9 new locations,new enemies,new weapons,new armor sets,new spells.
it may not be too long, but it sure is the best dlc out of all the Souls

The Orphan of Kos is my favorite boss because it literally gets the idea of Bloodborne perfectly. Fast paced, very small openings, healing with attacks and just all around making you have to fight aggressively or get heavenly punished for it
Heavily*
I agree with you, however I fucking hate that bastard. Cool boss, but it took me 40+ tries to beat him in NG+
I only parried her after she did the same. But still, the best boss fight in the game. I still think Ludwig the Holy Blade, had the best music theme.

+SunBro Solaire FOOKEN WEED
Good catch. I was wondering why that statue was missing an arm. Now it makes sense.

+mjtechnoviking44 Actually if she ripostes you she does a "kiss of death" esque visceral attack, she stabs you, gives you a peck on the cheek, and then swiftly yanks her knife/hand back out to give you a quick, clean death. Very kind is Lady Maria.
+pdragon619 She's actually saying "Git Gud"
Seriously dude...... Your voice combined with all this wisdom and motivation you have for Bloodborne(not excluding darksouls and what not) is truly....truly Amazing! Love your work.
we never did get that maria prepare to cry
aw why isnt there a prepare-to-cry yet :(
"Living Failures"
Just gonna add to the many asking "Where is the Lady Maria Prepare to Cry!?" We don't care that this game is old now! We want more Bloodborne lore!
Artorias DLC is good, but The Old Hunter DLC is GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD
Living Failures: Four Kings 2.0
That was my first thought seeing that part of the video.
2020 is almost over and we *STILL* don't have a Lady Maria Prepare To Cry video.
vaati, if you read the ps4 trophy it states that the living failures are failed attempts at creating great ones
Yeah the Celestial Emissary is a great one.
+Dick Deepinsideher the Celestial Emissary are just Kin dude, they're the results of human experiments just like the Failures, only closer to "alien" physical appearances
+Thank Ydu GARGD Then explain why trophy description refers to them as great ones.
Almost 5 years later and we're still waiting for that prepare to cry
"Maria will make an excellent prepare to cry." Yeah... I'll bet.
Next time on Bloodborne DLC; Enter the town of Innsmouth.
2:54 "these arent the beasts youre looking for"
Having played through the whole game, including the DLC, I think I can say Lady Maria was my favourite fight, I think the fact that at the end, as well as the rush of victory, I also felt sad that I'd have to play through again to fight her again.
