The guy running the chapel isn't eating a dead body right in front of you. That was literally the most obvious bad guy I've ever seen in a Souls style game. I mean the old guy seems a tad untrustworthy, but the guy out there is caught red handed in the act and tries to play it off. Well, if you want to be selfish, the guy does give you items (Beast Blood Pellets I believe) after every one of his kills. Don't know if it's worth it, though.

An interesting fact about Gilbert is that, despite sharing the same model with the beasts from Old Yharnam, he doesn't fear torches like they do. It makes sense, the citizens of Old Yharnam had reason to fear the flames where he didn't, but I can appreciate that From Soft went through the trouble to tinkering with his code so his behaviour would make more sense in the story when it would've been so much easier to just copy/paste another beastie there. :)
+Damien Tuck I don't really get your comment. I played Bloodborne without PvP (mainly cause I don't have the PS+ and don't want it, but also cause that's how I always play my first run in a Souls games), and that did not ruin the experience at all. PvP has always been an option, for a good replayability, in Souls games. IMO, it's not that important.
And then she tries to kill *you* too. :P Plus, it's pretty clear (at least it was to me) that she wasn't exactly the most mentally-stable person around....
@@papaoso8340 Adella, the nun you can rescue from the Hypogaean Gaol if you wear Healing Church clothing. After the Blood Moon rises, and if she has previously murdered Arianna because you took her blood too many times with Adella present, she will attack you the instant you walk out into the central courtyard outside of the Chapel, while giggling like the madwoman that she actually is (you can also get more subtle signs that she's batshit crazy prior to the Blood Moon rising by simply paying closer attention to her dialogue, there are subtle clues with her speech patterns and dialogue that indicates that her psyche isn't exactly...."stable" to say the least), while very clumsily swinging a curved dagger at you (you'd literally have to purposely just stand still and *let* her keep hitting you for her to actually be able to *kill you* though, even the weakest enemy in the very first area of the game is more of a challenge and does more damage per hit than Adella does with that little dagger of hers, and her swings are so slow and easy to predict that you can dodge them just by *walking* in any direction away from her swing....and she dies in just a couple of hits from your own weapon).

I don't own a PS4. But you make this game sound like the most fascinating thing in existence. Your videos make me want to buy a PS4 just to play Bloodborne.
Andar Olson Its 20 dollars. I bought it just recently. I had held off on it for so long when the Blood Starved Beast kept killing me. It is an amazing game
I like the story to the Soul series, but the majority of the time, it's so vague that you have to come up with your conclusions to certain things. The story to Bloodborne is much easier to follow, though there are times where the story gets confusing, and somewhat vague, but I get the story more.
Got a third umbilical chord from ariana, after seeing her chair in blood went back to odeon chappel and at the bottom of the ladder she was there with one of those grey slugs on the ground. Killed the slug and she died giving up her shoes and 3rd chord
She gave birth to the slug, that's why she was in hysterics. She was impregnated by a Great One (most likely Oedon) which is why it leaves the chord. I love this questline, it's so deliciously fucked up.
I honestly had no idea about most of these. I thought I knew alot, too! Such as the Arianna giving birth, Patches pushing you down, Iosefka getting an imposter etc. but wow, Patches being in a Chalice Dungeon, Priestess lady murdering Arianna and proposing to Queen Annalise all blow my mind! This games secrets are incredibly immense.
Wow this is one of the best games of all time. I don't like rpg's, I hate difficult games and games that are too long but I bought this and have been addicted ever since. I have put over a hundred hours into this game and I still find new secrets.
As someone who already reveres Souls as the savior of modern gaming, I find the setting, mood, and lore of Bloodborne to be a profound step above what came before it. These subtle character interactions are incredible. The story of Iosefka sends a chill down my spine.
Great video! Loved it! One thing to add on the whole Iosefka thing is that if you used the old fench glitch back in the day and enter the clinic from behind you can see that both Iosefka's have different models. Another fun thing is that you can actually scare the second Iosefka away. Just hit the door around 5-10 times. Eventually she'll become angry and run away, never to return. She also won't be there if you enter from the back afterwards.
I noticed something with Arianna. It says with her blood description that it is similar to what was ONCE forbidden, and that a member of the OLD Healing Church would have recognized it as such. That would seem to indicate that at some point the Healing Church stopped forbidding it, and that it was new one that did so.
Another possible reason for the termanology "once forbidden" is the possibility of them thinking they fully wiped out the source. (And only realizing here they didnt)
The changes to Iosefka are really interesting, I would never have discovered that on my own.... but I supposed that is one of the things we love about this series.
Funny how all the characters that go to the church devoted to Formless Oedon are subject to some form of mental illness (compulsive lying, psychopathy, schizophrenia , etc). So, how is the chapel dweller affected ? And more importantly, how are the players affected ?
I like the bloodborne stories I really wanna know as much about all the characters and side stories as possible. With the Old Lady She ask you about whats bothering you and if you tell your problems she actually claims you as her son and tries to fix the problems I thought that was very amazing that in her delusion she starts to care for you and actually finds a purpose... :(
Man I love your videos. Their just so unique as most people don't take the time to dig through a game and piece together its lore, they just play it and give people a few good laughs, but your lore videos do such a good job of explaining the puzzling lore of games like Dark Souls and Bloodborne, and I just love it.
+Alex Fremder Me too, but I'm not sure what he'd make a video about at this point, he's covered most of the major characters. I wouldn't mind new Ds1/DeS lore videos.
+Phantom Cooper I was disappointed to hear that he wants to switch to other souls games, but as you said there is not much to cover in the other games nor in BB. maybe try branching out to something else, his story telling is really enjoyable
The editing in this video is superb. It’s so smooth and seducing, every story has me on the edge my seat as if it’s the first time I saw it. This video helped me remember that Bloodborne is truly a horror . Keep up the great work!
Something odd I've noticed about Adella. When you are captured and brought to the Unseen Village, your weapons are not confiscated. Yet, Adella crouches, helpless, implying she doesn't have any weapons. Either hers were confiscated and yours weren't (seems unlikely), or she didn't have any weapons to begin with. The way she addresses you is also suspect. She addresses you with an obvious air of reverence, as though her own god has come to rescue her (if you're wearing the church garb). You'd think that if she was a black church hunter, she would have addressed you as a fellow hunter. She also says "Good luck on *your* hunt." If she's really a hunter (which would be implied by her gloves and Black Church Set), wouldn't the right word be "the"? And also, if she attacks you, she's just stumbling around, awkwardly swinging a knife, when even the insane hunters are more than adept with even large weapons. The point I'm trying laboriously to get to is that I don't think Adella is actually a Black Church Hunter. Perhaps she snatched the clothes off of a body?
+Narukami Yu A lot of people think she friendzones you, but I think that's wrong. I think she rejects you because she wants to keep you safe. She knows that, with the Church's zealotry, if you were to become her consort, the Executioners would surely hunt you down and kill you, just like they did her last husband and all her court. She points out that, "Such a path would belike lead to further ruin.". However, I think it's clear that she cares deeply for you, the last of her knights and last of her kin. She's touched by the proposal saying that the thought alone is enough for her and, rather touchingly, changes her regular farewell after you prepare to leave after asking for her hand. She says, "This chamber was not made for one alone...", implying she wants you there by her side, even if fate (and the Church) works to keep you two apart. So, don't worry, even if Annalise can't be your waifu officially, she wishes she could be. =')
I really don´t want you to move away from bloodborne, there´s still so much to talk about. It would be natural if you wouldn't cover it as extensively as you have previous games, but if you'd stop now it would just feel so incomplete.
Maybe a coincidence. But the old woman left me a letter asking me to wait until she would bring more items later. At the same moment I was doing Eillen's raven quest and while Eillen was dying on the stairs on the way to the cathedral the old woman was not in the cathedral hall. When I finished the quest and killed the hunter who had injured Eillen in the cathedral, I returned and talked to her who thanked me and gave me her hunting rune. I returned to the cathedral hall and saw that the old woman was back. I suspect this old woman is Eillen the crow in disguise. Another thing to chew the crow is the item that gives the game more frenzy resistance, more than any other head accessory. And the Old woman gives to us items to remove Frenzy stats, maybe this is one conection. Sorry for my bad english, hope that you guys understand.
Cloud7GF While I do like the idea of it, I don't know if that's a possibility. I'm pretty sure you can have the old woman alive from having not progressed her questline while also having Eileen dead from having failed to save her one of the times.
NUUUUU! you cant move away from Bloodborne!... I mean you can, but i don't want you too. I have over 400 hours in this god damn game and i really appreciate that someone has taken the liberty to discuss the lore and story of Bloodborne. Personally I would be really sad to see you move on from the game so early, especially given the fact that an expansion was announced to come out later this year. You have a very good voice and unique way of explaining the lore that would be missed if you decided to not continue on with Bloodborne. I have never played Dark Souls and probably wouldn't like it due to the hesitance of the gameplay. So having someone who shares opinions on the lore similar to mine is awesome. I don't really know how to go about making my own videos to explain my perspective as i haven't created any videos.. Ever. I know this turned out to be a rant, but i would be happy if you continued bloodborne. Also if you have any tips on how to make my own videos that would be greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
Please don't stop making videos on Bloodbourne. I don't own the game myself, but I have watched friends of mine play it and I really enjoy learning about the lore in games - even if I've never played them before. Bloodbourne is incredibly detailed and the lore runs deep. I love games like that, and I look forward to learning more from your videos.
Honestly Bloodborne is much more interesting than dark souls. Maybe it's because I like a good story, and don't care if there are spoilers ahead, but please keep doing Bloodborne videos! Maybe like a "Best armor" video? The armor in Bloodborne looks so damn cool.
I never knew about that ring. I have completed this game a ton of times since it came out. I also didn't know about the old suspicious guy till a few days ago. pretty cool that I still find things I never knew about. I do hate that there are items that are useless.
Okay so I finished Bloodbourne a couple of weeks ago and half of the areas & NPCs I see in these Bloodbourne videos from VaatiVidya I never came across when playing the game. Time to play it again, I missed a lot.
One of the beggar's voicelines when he transforms is something along the lines of "You hunters are killers, nothing more! You call me a A BEAST!? ME!? YOU THINK I ASKED FOR THIS?" It kind of makes you feel bad no matter what you do. There is NO good ending, except for becoming a squid.
I like the theory that Iosefka #1 is the (twin) sister of Iosefka #2, where #1 was looking for a cure for the current ailment by refining masses of blood and creating her special blood vial (either dubiously or not, is up to you as we do not see if she only combined the blood of masses of extra, or actively dried up people to refine blood). I think the vial being in Mergo's Loft before the Wet Nurse supports this as it would have had to have been there when the Mensis School was sucked into the Nightmare, her sister comes in once the scourge reaches Cathedral Ward (the player character represents this) to continue her Choir sanctioned (at first) research into the celestial emissaries and the lost Ebrietas, in an effort to gain evolution through insight, as represented by the Umbilical Cord she has on her person when you kill her on the operating table, and that umbilical cord being the one of Kos, during the time of the Scholars of Byrgenwerth, who were led by Provost Willem, a dedicated researcher into Insight and the lining of the inside of the brain to eyes, literally. The reason why I say sister, and possibly twin sister, is the fact you can't impersonate someone's face, even in Bloodborne lore and mythos, and her shortcomings with Iosefka #2 are apparent in her voice, to which it is far more believable and likely because Iosefka #1 was killed by someone she knew and turned into an Emissary. It may be a stretch, but I think it works.
My vote is for more Bloodborne, I love this game. If you go back to previous Souls games, Demon's Souls would be the most interesting to me, though it's also the one that fewest have played
Watching all of your BB videos as I'm just now at the Unseen Village in my first play through, and finding all these different NPC's and their story lines. I found a few, like the guy near the central yharnam lamp. But this game is incredible, great video, dude!
Vidya, just so you know, what I looked forward to most after beating Bloodborne was to watch your videos (I like to give it one play through in the dark.) Thanks for doing the Bloodborne vids you did.
I don't own Bloodborne and don't have the platform to do so, nor have I ever played it, but I do enjoy greatly your content, specially the Bloodborne videos. Your effort is notorious, your intake on things is quite smart, and your delivery is fantastic. The poll you did surely gives you a new perspective on content creation, but please don't forget that some of us might be here just because of you special way of approaching things, whether we own the game or not. Thank you fine Sir for this amazing... thing you do. P.S. I don't watch TV either, so your channel is actually one of my saucers to wonder off and speculate, which I care about greatly. Thank you again!
@VaatiVidya - I think your strawpoll is very misleading as it only allows followers to select 1 choice, I would love to vote for Dark Souls 3 News aswell as Bloodborne, and maybe even something new (Salt & Sanctuary playthrough for example?) and so on! :D Always great content, keep up the fantastic work!
+VaatiVidya Haha! It's no problem, just keep that in mind that, whilst some folk might like to see Bloodborne content, they might want to see some good ol' DS1 or 2 content a little bit more ^^ So the pole isn't 100% damning in one way or another :)
+TopHatCat Agreed. Also, for someone like me who does not own the required console and has no possibility of buying it, these bloodborne videos are gold :)
Kind of ironic that Bloodborne was my first "souls" type game but you mentioned most of your viewers don't own it. I've beaten the game recently with help from the wiki but I'm really enjoying your videos. All the lore and strategies in dealing with the bosses that you took time to create. Your voice isn't dull to listen to either. If Bloodborne 2 ever comes out hopefully you'll be willing to upload content on it
Hey Vaati, just want to make sure you know that your 'followers' may don't have bloodborne, but the thing that mainly motivates them to watch is the lore, and they're mostly fine with it. If we seek gameplay we would see NG+ and up speedruns and OP builds. Bloodborne is just that fantastic at lore. t. DS trilogy player
I hope you continue making bloodborne videos. Its so interesting and although I do play it I am not all that good and do miss a lot of things due to that so these videos help a lot with actually learning the lore and theories I just can't create myself.
Not true. If you do the Gascoigne's daughter quest all the way through, pick up the red ribbon, then go back to that house after the Bloodmoon, you can give the older daughter the ribbon. If you reload the area, you'll find her dead body at the foot of the ladder beside the window. She's noticeably smaller than any adult in the game.
I didn’t even know that other npcs existed. I thought it was a trend that henryk was the only one to make some semblance of loneliness and henryk would be this glimmer of light in this shallow world of darkness
I find the suspicious beggar to be the most interesting character in the game. He appears to be the only sentient beast, no other beasts have shown any signs of thinking outside of fragments of sentiment from their former lives (such as Father Gascoigne's music box or Vicar Emelia's pendant.) While other beasts will stop talking the second they transform, his ability to think appears unhindered, and he transforms intentionally. Even other darkbeasts, like the Abhorrent Beast or Paarl do not utter a word. His origins are unknown (right?) but they must have been different than that of the other darkbeasts, perhaps Archibald figured something out. I have a more interesting theory. Beasts hunt humans, and humans hunt beasts. We also know that the beastmen call you, the hunter, a beast. It seems as though the more beast you become, the more you view humans as beasts. A humans view regarding beasts vs humans is switched when they transform. Therefore as far as both humans and beasts are concerned, they are the humans, and they are killing beasts. Knowing that beasts are born from something evil within humans, it makes sense then, that all the fighting is a result of human aggression and an "us vs them" mentality. Beasts do not talk to you, just as you do not talk to them as you kill them in the same unhesitating anger. The beggar never wanted to be a beast, but he also never wanted to hunt beasts, and maybe he never did. He was one of the only humans who bore no real hatred toward them, and viewed humans as beasts as well. As he becomes a beast, he does not appear to lose his mind as other beasts do, because his hate toward humans and beasts is equal, so his switched beast view is almost the same as his human view. And he only kills humans because he has to in order to survive. Djura further supports this, as he too, calls you a beast, and lives on the side of the beasts. There is no beasts vs humans, only humans vs humans. I figure if Djura ever turned into a beast, he too, would have retained perceived sentience, I say perceived because really for all we know beasts are fully sentient. I may not be the best at explaining this, but these two minor characters seem to hold the secret to the very nature of beasthood itself. And that nature is the nature of humans themselves.
thank you for all your bloodborne videos. I recently have become obsessed with the game being a huge fan of HP Lovecraft, horror, and this unique style. your videos are really nice and I often listen to them while playing not only for guides but I just really like your voice and the way you speak. Shame about not a lot of people not owning Bloodborne (like myself), but I don't really blame them. It's an exclusive on a new console that really doesn't have any other game worth getting on it yet. So shelling out that much dosh for 1 game, no matter how good it is, isn't really a high priority for people.

Personally, I find the story to Bloodborne about a thousand times more interesting than Demon Souls.
You mean the souls series?
Yes, sorry.
Same
Me too. I was able to really get into BB.
I like the story to the Soul series, but the majority of the time, it's so vague that you have to come up with your conclusions to certain things. The story to Bloodborne is much easier to follow, though there are times where the story gets confusing, and somewhat vague, but I get the story more.
I love the voice acting in this game so.. so much. Seriously some of the best out there. Thanks for another video, I've missed Bloodborne!
@@tonystarrk4859I always felt bad for her.. I thought she could live past that point.
Sister Adella went on full yandere all for the sake of hunter-senpai's attention...

She also won't be there if you enter from the back afterwards.
holy shit that moment when adella is chasing you with a knife scared me I did not expect that at all
Literally knew everything except the priest woman being able to attack you.
Lol me 2
I was so sad about Gilbert when I saw it for the first time. He was so nice
Yeah I wished we could of helped him like find a cure or something because the last time I talked to him he told me to help him 😭
I noticed something with Arianna. It says with her blood description that it is similar to what was ONCE forbidden, and that a member of the OLD Healing Church would have recognized it as such. That would seem to indicate that at some point the Healing Church stopped forbidding it, and that it was new one that did so.
And that's what caused the rise of the cleric beasts and what happened to vicar amelia
Dayum... these crazy japanese
Since when has compulsive lying been a mental disorder? Lol

it is possibly the fact that he is blind, or maybe he has a hidden illness.

Thenextworldwar do you even read the description of her blood? She's a holy church nun, not a hunter...
Could she have been one of Yar'ghul's blood sources?
She's a blood Saint, I presume that the Black Church Hunter Garb is just repurposed Church clothes.
I really wish I could marry my dear Tsundere queen. The ring gave me hope but that lead to despair in minutes. Expansion maybe.

While I do like the idea of it, I don't know if that's a possibility. I'm pretty sure you can have the old woman alive from having not progressed her questline while also having Eileen dead from having failed to save her one of the times.
ik this is old but Eileen still appears outside the chapel to warn you about Henryk while the old woman is still inside
NUUUUU! you cant move away from Bloodborne!... Thanks!
If you still have never played dark souls, it's amazing. The lore is insane, and the gameplay is so amazing and varied
Warning though its a lot harder than bloodborne. Hitboxes are a lot bigger, movement is a lot slower, and bosses will always have a second phase.

Please don't stop making videos on Bloodbourne. I don't own the game myself, but I have watched friends of mine play it and I really enjoy learning about the lore in games - even if I've never played them before.
Good job , you have really pleasant voice.

You can lead the insane church lady when she's attacking you to amygdala and when amygdala scoops her up she will die.

I get so sad when the Oedon Chapel guy gets sad. I just want him to be happy ):
You have the best voice and tone as narrator honestly i am enjoying your videos!
