Thanks for the video…..Very good instruction on master cylinder rebuild. It looks like you still have the original rubber brake hoses…..that’s can cause many problems at this age of our bikes. Replacing all rubber brake hoses with new stainless reinforced hoses is recommended.

Thanks for watching. Yes you are correct. The hose is fairly new and looked good but stainless is a great upgrade.

Thank you for your explanations! On my bike (1999 R1100RT with 10,000 km) I can't extract the piston to replace.

Thanks for watching. Hope you are able to get it out. Hopefully it’s not too damaged to reuse. Maybe soaking it in some solvent would help.

Thanks for the video - I have the same leak on my r1100gs so now I have an idea what I have to do

Hope it helps with your repair. It really isn’t to difficult to do. I would recommend a brake hone if you can find one. Good luck with your repair.

What happened to make you rebuild the MC? My 95 RS has locked front brakes and brake lights are on. I’ll be rebuilding my MC shortly, so your video will be watched again.

Thanks for watching. Mine was leaking. Make sure you don’t have a collapsed line. Hope you can get it fixed ok.

I have a pair of R1100RT bikes….could not resist them for the price of perfect condition, maintained machines….one is in Florida at my buddie’s place for when I visit him and the other is in California at my house. I ride it all the time and love it. I am considering a R90/6 like your as an addition to my collection….do you find that you use yours frequently? I don’t want to get something that I won’t use….but I really think I will use the old machine a lot. Which bike do you get on most frequently?

Hi Will, thanks for watching. Since making these videos I have sold both BMW’s. But I did like both of them for different reasons. The r1100rt was a great winter riding bike so to the wind protection. I’m in Va. and I usually ride year round so when it’s below 40 degrees it’s really nice but I did sell it only because I came across a goldwing for a great price that I couldn’t pass up. The R90/6 is a great classic bike but for some reason I just didn’t click with that bike. Love the look and style of it but I just didn’t do it for me for some reason. But I like to experience a lot of different bikes so I usually don’t keep bikes for a long time. But I have found 3 that I’m really enjoying at the moment and plan to keep them for a while. Good luck with yours and if you find a good R90 jump on it. It might be the right bike for you.
