Custom ROM user here. I think the first and second rule of rooting/installing a custom ROM is to have patience and to have backups. The original owner didn't seem to follow these two rules.
Hugh, given that you are sponsored by ifixit I am surprised that you haven't started using Tesa tape for double sided adhesive. Ifixit did a video with Tesa a few years ago and thus brought Tesa to the mainstream market. Tesa is (acclaimed by Tesa) an oem for adhesive applications, meaning manufacturers of devices use them to properly adhere their devices together. I've been a professional technician for just over 6 years, and Tesa adhesive (black tape) is the best I've come across, aside from 3m VHB. Tesa is very good for installing batteries and holding back glass on for some models, but is especially good for iPad glass replacement.
Pro tip : don't lock the bootloader before flashing , you could have turn on frp , and the worst scenario is that the phone had a custom recovery .. it's done , the phone boots to recovery to wipe everything before locking. And it won't work because you have a custom recovery , so the phone will stay looping to recovery without wiping anything . And there is no way to flash the stock recovery if you're locked .... Happened with me with a pixel 2xl and i got no way around it.
Literally done the same thing with my s10+ repair and made it the prism green model. Only issue mine had was old screen from previous owner had been smashed. Original battery and cameras worked fine so just needed a new screen assembly and rear glass replacement which are really easy and only take me about 30mins all up from start to finishing closing up the phone.

I can certainly understand someone's frustration with modern technology. This morning, after a good night's sleep, I managed to set up my bluetooth headphones without a hitch. Also I restored my Apple 7 phone that had gone dark. Very simple in the end once I knew what I was looking for. Being only partially sighted and 66 means technology can be both a help and a curse. From having no phone at all, I now have 4 iphones, all working perfectly in good condition.. My favourite being the Apple 6S as the screen is big.

How can someone drill through their phone?
They were stupid
The Old Owner watching: i regret the day i did that to my Phone
iPhone: if you open me i wont work
Samsung: you can drill trough me and ill still be working
Custom ROM user here. I think the first and second rule of rooting/installing a custom ROM is to have patience and to have backups. The original owner didn't seem to follow these two rules.
worst thing you could have is hard-brick or losing sensitive data (like IMEI)
Dude really unrooted a phone that should be rooted
Literally done the same thing with my s10+ repair and made it the prism green model. Only issue mine had was old screen from previous owner had been smashed. Original battery and cameras worked fine so just needed a new screen assembly and rear glass replacement which are really easy and only take me about 30mins all up from start to finishing closing up the phone.
That color is amazing. Wonderful restoration job.
Imagine seeing that boot screen at night and reading the red text
I dont know everybody does get this feeling but i would get that head/brain burning thing
Wow that color looks amazing what a beautiful restoration
Thank you so much Hugh for your great video 😀
I can certainly understand someone's frustration with modern technology.
This morning, after a good night's sleep, I managed to set up my bluetooth headphones without a hitch.
Also I restored my Apple 7 phone that had gone dark. Very simple in the end once I knew what I was looking for.
Being only partially sighted and 66 means technology can be both a help and a curse. From having no phone at all, I now have 4 iphones, all working perfectly in good condition.. My favourite being the Apple 6S as the screen is big.
Owner saw this video. Seen how easy it was to reflash the original OS and raged again.
Seeing your video somehow feels like a therapy for me
As a galaxy s10 + owner I am sad to see someone drilling a hole trough this beautiful device. Yeah it isn't the fastest anymore but it still works better and faster than my S7 when it was this age. Have my s10 + for over 2 years and still love it.
as a s10+ user I really like that you have done with it.
something that fears mw ith this phone is usb charging port wthich is soldered to the main board.
1:10 its asking you to end its misery 😂
