Nah. Over priced and 60 htz in 2022/23. Sorry. That aint going to cut it for the cash required. Also a bigger screen isn't a feature. It's a choice. As always very polished production and Tom always is happy. 👍
They could have easily made the 14 plus with a 90 HZ refresh rate, as another incentive to spend 900 bucks!! Shame on Apple

I don't think so, yeah it is true that Apple can do 90Hz, nevertheless iPhone 14 and 14 plus are still trailing alone behind other competitors, they are much more smoother in term of screen animation and also stable in terms of software, especially camera quality is very good I mean Videos

Even tho the 14 plus is slightly overpriced It’s a good phone with big battery and solid camera system and big screen it is basically the 13 pro max with slightly cut down features like promotion 120hz LiDAR sensor dynamic island other than that the 14 plus is a solid phone
I'm in the States and am grabbing this one. It's more phone than I need and I love Apple finally gave us average users a huge screen again. I also love the great battery life.

Its all up to the consumer what they prefer. as long as its not a piece of junk or in bad condition then okay, get it if you want. I think its a waste if you already have an iPhone 13 or iPhone 12. Better to wait a few years instead of upgrading from last year's phone to the latest.

My wife and I just got the 14 Plus. I came from an S21 Ultra and her from a 12 Pro Max. It’s been a great so far. The battery life is phenomenal and that was becoming an issue for both our previous phones. It’s nice to have the pro size in a lighter weight and the dynamic island and extra camera weren’t a must for us.

How was it going from a 120 hz refresh rate down to a 60?
@@liam45506 I typically had my S21 ultra in a lower power mode to help the battery last longer which disabled the 120hz, so I don’t really miss it. I enabled it here and there but it’s not a deal breaker feature for me.
I came from the s21 ultra too. The battery is crazy good so far! I hope it’s not just because it’s brand new that the battery is lasting this long. My last iPhone was the iPhone 7 and the battery was terrible on that.
@Mathew Forsythe yes! The I had the uphone 6 mini ( I think) quite some years ago and man, the battery was horrid. I just traded in my iphone 13 pro max for the Samsung galaxy flip 4. DONT DO IT. The battery on this SUCKS! Now I have to pay the full amount for an iphone 14 plus and buy airpods again...
Bought the 14 plus (upgrading from an iPhone 11) after watching this review. I wouldnt use the pro features anyway but theres a huge huge waitlist in the UK for the pro max anyway so..

This is the perfect phone for me. I had a 12 pro and I am a light user. I don't give a shit about 90Hz, camera, and stainless steel. I just want a light phone with big screen for emails, texts, and TH-cam. dual SIMs and battery life are also big bonus. I got mine yesterday and very satisfied.
Would be interesting to see how the 14 pro max fares when set to 60hz mode.
For those unaware you can go to accessibility ->motion-> reduce frame rate.
This sets the max frame rate to 60hz while still allowing the display to go down to 1hz. That coupled with the A16 should probably tie it with the 14 plus
Fair point... but the Pro's have the advantage of the screens going as low as 1hz

I must say, as much as I do have a 12 Pro, I do prefer the aluminium frame. It just seems nicer in the hand and lighter.

I do love the aerospace grade aluminium but nothing beats the surgical grade stainless steel

The return of the plus. Dimension wise seems like the 14 plus is an 6/7/8 plus but without the bezels. I'm actually still using my 6s plus, but funny thing about screen size. Like the screen on my 6s plus is 5.5" and on the 12/13 mini it's 5.4" and yet my 5.5" screen seems significantly bigger, must be the difference in aspect ratio as older iphones were wider but shorter. Like the width of my 6s plus is 3.07", a 13 mini is only 2.53", a significant difference eventhough screen size only differs by 0.1", the 14 plus is also 3.07" wide, so exact same as 6/7/8 plus phones. The regular iphones with their 6.1" displays have a width of 2.81", so eventhough the screen is much larger than on the older 5.5" plus iphones, that screen is not as wide.
For a brief moment I actually did use an iphone 13 mini, because I just looked at the screen dimensions and in my mind I just figured that the iphone 13 mini is a 6s plus with no bezels, but boy was I wrong, since the aspect ratio is different that 5.4" screen feels incredibly tiny compared to the 5.5" display on my 6s plus. So the 14 plus seems interesting, only slighty more expensive than the regular 14, so actually a 6s plus without bezels, just all screen. And for a casual joe like me who has no need for pro features, this seems like a deal.

The standard iPhone 14 makes no sense, it’s the iPhone 13 mkii, its too similar. But the iPhone 14+ does make some sense, and I understand why somebody would buy it.

Decided to return my Pro max 14 because of the dynamic island getting in the way of my content..... the PLUS is sooo much better
Smart move, lots of people complaining the island caused screen burn after awhile.
Subjective, but I think the notch looks better than the “dynamic island”. It’s just less distracting to my eye and the island cuts into 16:9 landscape video where the notch doesn’t.

@@AAM29290 I ended up returning it. Dynamic Island was for me an annoyance in media content that actually scales and not just zoom in to full screen. Also the battery... I used battery saver but then it disconnected my wifi for some reason and I've used up 6/15GB this month 😂🔫 too many issues for me.
Just bought the plus and am happy. As a 40 something who wants a big screen, takes a few pictures and checks email. This is ideal. Also it’s lighter to hold when watching videos in bed. Beats being crushed by my iPad Pro and easy on my carpel tunnel.
Definitely, a 120 or 90 Hz should be included in phones within this price range. With the inflated prices we have this year, I can only hope for a 15 series worth the upgrade. Until then, happy to keep my trusty iPhone 11, which still feels fast and snappy.

Most people don't care about 90 or 120Hz and to be fair: 60Hz on iPhones easily feels as smooth as Android phones with 90Hz thanks to the much more thoughtout animations and everything.
I agree. I guess it’s one of those things you can’t “unsee”, but as I’ve always had 60Hz screens, I don’t miss it.
In any case, in the price range of iPhones a minimum of 90Hz would be more than welcome, leaving the 60Hz for the SE and lower tiers, and 120 ProMotion for the Pros.

@@reziee5897 I have the iPad Air 5 with 60Hz and iPhone 13 Pro Max, and I don’t see or notice any difference. So I fit in the category ‚don’t care‘.
And there are more and more people who want to use their smartphone as a utility, but with iOS and big screen, that lasts for several years.

People are bashing the iPhone 14 plus over the max. However, really do not want brick in my pocket so I am thinking about getting a iPhone 14 plus and want bigger screen. I have iPhone 11 now.

Great video as always, and very informative. I’m a huge apple fan, but It feels like they are holding back progress to much, vs the competition. I’m now awaiting delivery of my 3rd iphone 11 due to various faults, I’ve had with each one, and I’ve gone back to using the iphone 6S plus, my back up. I was really amazed at how good the experience was, and it happily runs instagram and TH-cam, and takes great pictures. For some really strange reason the 5.5” screen on the 6S plus feels bigger and wider than the newer phones, and makes sending texts really easy, my wife also agrees. If all the new iPhone 14 models had 120hz, QD OLED displays, telephoto lenses and the pro had an option from duel screens so filming would be easier, that would stack up in my view. I just feel we’re getting much of the same with the iphone, especially when you look at the leaps the laptops and macs are making.
Will stick to my pro max 13 for a while 😊, great review btw
Well the 14plus is pretty much a 13promax without the pro stuff. So instead of getting it the 14plus, might as well search for discounted 13promax.

There’s a massive difference from 13 pro max to 14 pro max literally. Screen is a lot brighter and more colorful

does the iPhone pro degrade battery more than the Pro max? How is the battery Heath Heath different between those two after one or two years? Does the pro max hold more years down the line?
According to other reviews the pro max has terrible battery degradation and proved to be far worse than the 14 plus.
The only thing I love from iphones is that it's optimized on social media apps and the animations is so smooth.

I ordered the Pro Max as my first iPhone, after using Samsung phones for years with a long delivery date, which gives me time to ponder if I had made the right choice. 14 Pro Max is heavy and although I like the premium build and advanced camera features, I hate the extra huge weight. The Pro Max phone must be the worlds heaviest smartphone! This phone might be better, as it's lighter than even the regular Pro, let alone Pro Max! Just a shame that the camera is has no zoom feature, I mean optical, not keen digital zoom. Don't want to go to smaller screen than my A52s Samsung which is 6.5 inch screen.

@@KiLLJOY1056 I have the 14 Pro and the battery is quite good if you are not running intense applications for an extended period of time. I am sure the new A16 is responsible for that. Of course, if you want to longest battery life then the 14 Pro Max is the way to go.

I have 13 pro running IOS 16.1 and my battery is destroyed. Can’t even make it through a full day even when hardly using it when at work . Down to 89% battery health after 14 months use. Going to swap to 14 plus. Yes I’ll miss the cameras but I’ll sacrifice for a battery that holds charge past 6 pm most nights
Now that the US models don’t have a SIM slot, they should’ve turned that slot into an SD card storage slot, but Apple would never
Bruh why would I think they would and they never done that ?btw sd cards are almost pretty much gone from expensive smartphones and most likely soon to be goon from most smartphones.

Just got the Iphone 14 plus and was using my old Iphone 10 max sx and compared to the two I noticed that the 14 is much lighter in weight, bigger screen, option for bigger text size and longer battery life as well as some other features the 10 max sx doesn't have. Yes it's highter in price and it's going to take an extra six months to pay off so far I'm glad I got it as I were glasses and so my eyesight is lousy and I use my iphone allot for reading and my coloring apps and design games. I will know as the longer I have it if it was really worth the bigger price I will be paying for it will again be worth it. Thanks for the review 😀😁👍

Is not because of the cameras or anything special is intentional and because Tim cook thinks heavy=premium. The s22 Ultra is 13 grams lighter with 1500 mAh more of battery and a much complex camera system
I don't know why everyone raves about the pro models, they'e so clunky and less sleek and elegant than the 13/14 base models.

Do you want the newest features? If not, go for the 14+, if you do want new features (ProMotion, new Island (rumoured to be on new iPhones) extra camera etc) go Pro Max, for £250/€285 more.
exactly, firstly i wanted to buy 14 pro because of its size, but after they relased 14 plus i started changing mind. I love 11 pro for its battery live and small size. I would still miss stainless steel and dynamic island seems cool, but i can live without it, right?

@@jaketalbott6292 if you use a case the material doesn't matter. As of now the dynamic island blocks so much content and apps but that can be sorted in 1-2 months perhaps. Battery life might be sorted with next iOS, i turned off 5G and the AOD but still need to do ABC ( always be charging).

To anyone wanting to purchase an iPhone, if you want a regular 14, go for it - but 13 may tempt you as it’s similar and saves you money. Go for 14+ if you don’t want the fancy new Island (which will be on next iPhones), don’t want extra cameras, don’t want the new chip (A15) or you like big screens - save yourself £250. Or go 14 Pro Max - £250 more than 14 Plus, gets you new chip (A16), extra camera, new Island, ProMotion, and so on.
I think the Plus’s price point is expensive but if you’re trading in, you could save more money than you think.
Anyway, I ordered the 14 Pro Max, never had one before, over the 14 Plus; coming from iPhone 11.

They should give the 15 plus an 75-80hz display. Still gives the pro versions a leg up, still has better battery, and is such an apple way to bring higher refresh rate to "base" model devices
my SE 2 is still enough phone for me, but usb c on the iPhone 15 would be enough to make me upgrade

The 14 Plus looks like a very compelling investment! The battery, the lightness, and the cameras are all great! And it's not like 60hz is garbage! It looks smooth enough to me! I'm on the fence between the €1,899 512 gb 14 Pro Max, and the €1,319 256 gb 14 Plus!

I definitely notice a 120hz vs 60hz refresh rate on the iPhone, the 120hz is buttery smooth and snappy… but the price tag wasn’t worth the upgrade from 12 to 14. So i opted for the 14 plus

My mum got her first ever new iPhone 14 on the 16th Friday of September and she loves it and I wanted to upgrade my iPhone to iPhone 14 but I have to wait until the iPhone 16 comes out so I can get the iPhone 14 or iPhone 15 currently using a iPhone 12 mini

It’s an awesome phone and I was so itching to get it, but for the same price you can get a 13PM, which is brighter, with better cameras and ProMotion, also it is more durable. So I went with pragmatism over emotions.
Instead of 14 pro max, one can get 14 plus and airpods 3... I am not a social media guy so I will choose 14 plus.
The non-pro iPhones are also great for social media

USB-C! It would make my life so much simpler when traveling... If the 14 had type-c connectors i would have been first inline.

Is there a better way to activate the Notification Center because hitting the think area between the upper border and dynamic island is nearly impossible. I always have to swipe 3-5 times till I hit it to activate Notification Center. Very annoying and I definitely prefer the notch. So I already deactivated always on display because of privacy issues and now I also wished I could deactivate the dynamic island. Almost all the big features are failures to me. Camera is nice though
5 months in with iphone 14 plus . i watch all my matches at work. don't have to worry about battery

Can like many of the iPhones be compared to see how much notch protrudes when viewing 18:9 aspect videos? I think iPhone 12 didn't. iPhone 13 and 14 does. Maybe iPhone 14 Plus doesn't.

I will forever lament the loss of the iPhone Mini :( (With hopes that it is the new iPhone SE), but I really like the idea of a big screen option for normal people or just for people who can't afford the Pro Max! I like small portable phones but Big Screens are very, very nice 😅❤️
