Your lifepod is 5. The one you were looking for is about 400m away from lifepod 4, not 5.
Another great episode! I’ve got some notes for you:
- Remember to use BEACONS, they’re basically markers that you can place in significant areas (including your soon to be base so you don’t lose it)
- The radiation suit is already in your fabricator, when the ship exploded your PDA gave you the blueprint.
- Try and put your base somewhere further than your life pod, possibly the red grass as it’s jam-packed full of resources for you.
* I would say three good goals for your next video would be establishing a base, exploring bits of the aurora, and of course going deeper with your seamoth (those deep caves next to that life pod in earlier episodes would be a good place to start).

Yes, but she still doesn't know how to make fiber meshes.
It may not feel like much but exploring and scanning is always worthwhile in this game. Your new seamoth will make it easier to go farther and deeper too! You are all set to really start your first base now. The habitat builder can deconstruct as well as construct, so don't be afraid to experiment (everyone feels confused at first) since you can always take a section apart and try building differently essentially for free.

you could have started your base with just an I-compartment (or any of the other ones availabe), added a hatch and some solar panels, that makes for a functional, if a bit small, starter base...but that's obsolete now since you already found the multipurpose room on the island :)

Radiation suit uses fiber mesh, use your knife to slash the creepvine and you will be able to make it!
i also suggest you make the air bladder, it will wisk you up to the surface faster than the seaglide!

you made more progress then you might think. You could have scanned that alien arc inside the mountain.
Also you already could've built a base... the tubes are the basic compartments.

Something to remember is that Subnautica is good at making you feel like a dummy for your first 5 hours or so. There's a point in every playthrough I've watched where the player just switches from "omg I don't know what I'm doing" to being wildly competent. You'll get there too!!! Don't worry about not making progress, this is very much a "it's the journey, not the destination" game (although the destination is fantastic). You're still making progress -- in that you're learning and getting further into the game -- even if you feel like you aren't.
If you want a house rec, there's a point slightly... southeast? of the lifepods' usual landing zone that's where the safe shallows, red grass plateaus, and kelp forest meet, with a heat source (for thermal plants) not much further. Plus, it's near a very useful cave entrance (to the purple caves, if you've seen them). It's where I usually build and it's a nice little place with easy access to resources and not much more than stalkers to bother you! Easily one of my two favorite building spots in the game.
Before you find a good place you want to settle, you can also make a mini base. My starter is usually a couple hallways and some solar panels right by my lifepod so I have better storage options, and then I just move to my base when I build it. It's better than 8,000 floating lockers lol. nothing says you have to start big or that you can't move to a new base later!
Sorry if this feels backseaty, that's not my intent at all! I just love this game and I always hate when people get frustrated because they're "not making progress." You definitely are! It just may not seem like it! But in a few hours you'll switch into Pro Mode, trust me. :D

I've been reading the subtitles since you were so excited about it. I love how it said 'Oh disrespect it' when you said 'oh fuck it' hahahaha as for everything else, you're only a few hours into the game, and it's massive! Don't worry about what you have accomplished so far, just take it a day at a time, you're doing amazing!

Very much enjoying the exploration and discovery (it's as close as I can get to experiencing it again as I did when I played it.)
Some suggestions:
Don't worry about the base building - it's not immediately obvious how it works, but once you get it, it's easy (and really useful.) Just have a play.
Scan even more! Whenever that scan icon appears in the bottom right, you can scan, and you should. So much useful information to be had.
Look harder in the abandoned habitats. Useful things to scan, and I think more PDAs to find, with more useful info.
You want a rebreather. And a Radiation suit.
The plants on the island in the growbeds are your friends. And you can make growbeds to grow your own plants.
Fibre mesh - go play with a creepvine.
You can build more than you think already, if you just look at your blueprints.}
Once you're kitted out (laser cutter, propulsion canon, rebreather) exploring wrecks with a seamoth just outside is very constructive.
You're doing great. Don't get discouraged.

Im loving this playthrough.
For a base to have oxygen you only need to build a solar panel.
I'm saying this because a lot of people get confused on how to get oxygen ob their base.

i watched the first 2 parts and didnt realize u had a low amount of subs! Also you should try and make a seamoth (if u didnt already) and try to find parts of cyclops (big boy submarine) and ofc build a base with the habitat builder!
Useful info: If you are scared of some biome doesnt mean its dangerous, the main horrors are leviathans, if one is chasing you manouver around them a few times and they will leave ya alone
Also i forgot to say nights dont do anything its just harder to see
You're not picking up salt. That tells me you don't know about bleach yet. Bleach is important, look it up in the fabricator.
The red grass just under 100m is a good place for a base. It gives you a spot near the bottom to refill your air and is still shallow enough that solar power works well. There's a very deep cave network with an entrance in one of the red grass plains. I think you've found it already. It's WELL worth exploring down there and a small base would be a good staging area for that. You don't need a foundation. You can start with just a corridor and a solar panel. (the more solar panels you have, the more power storage it will have to get you through the night)
Also, a scanner room is good since the remote cameras are visible at any distance and you can find your base without a beacon on it.
The lifepod you're looking for in the red grass had it's location given in relation to lifepod 4, not YOUR lifepod. That's why it's tricky to find.
When you want to build something, (your rebreather for example) You can back-trace the components in your fabricator. It needs a wiring kit and fiber mesh. You already know about wiring kits, but if you didn't, the next step would be to find that in the fabricator and build one. Same with fiber mesh, find it in the fabricator, collect the materials, and make one.
Same with WATER. (yes water, look it up)
When you went to the second mountaintop base and scanned the lanternfruit tree, did you also scan the indoor grow bed? (the first one you scanned was an outdoor growbed) One is for outside of your base while the other is for inside. (in case you wanted an indoor garden in your home under the sea)
I have been collecting a little bit of salt but I am yet to make bleach! I will check it out! Also thank you for clarifying the lifepod situation. I am such a goober 😅 I scanned all the grow beds too! Thank you for all the help!
I hope ppl don't spoil too much of the game for you, figuring stuff out is half the fun. I want to watch how you play, not how other ppl want you to play. You're doing great! This is a gem.

all the degasi stuff dose give you nice base components, but they are in the most annoying places in the game
Idk if this is the place to do it, but i highly recommend a game called Outer Wilds, it reminds me of subnautica in a way, especially certain parts of it.
