I FOUND YOUR TIME CAPSULE!!!!
Are you serious? That's... actually crazy
proof?
dang so the devs approved the capsule
wait really? i didnt think the devs still added new capsules

Unassigned rule of the Internet: "If you don't have Thalassophobia when you start playing Subnautica, you will have Thalassophobia by the time you stop playing Subnautica."
I am sorry to say I did not have Thalassophobia when I started playing, I’ve beaten it multiple times, and I still do not have Thalassophobia.
I didn't have thalassaphobia when I started playing. I have beaten it and still don't. However, even though I have never been scared of the deep sea, it took me twenty minutes to gather the courage to leave the safe shallows. I went straight to the back of the aurora at that point😅.
I didn’t get the last phobia mainly because of the amount of Subnautica videos I watched, but I did get unbelievably scared. When out of nowhere I’d be attacked by the ghost Leviathan or the regular reaper Leviathan. I also had my fair share of glitches when one time my prawn suit just kind of phased through the ground and I slowly fell into the void and I hit about like 17,000 or whatever before I decide to leave the game

an Aussie with Thalassofobia? Nah that's just survival instinct mate
To the sea dragon: ya know what? I'm not scared of you
The sea dragon: bet
"I hoarded resources like a horrific combination of a goblin and a mermaid" this is pure gold.
Me hearing the narrator: Seems to be too calm to be Australian.
Me hearing him play: Yep, there's the chaotic Aussie energy.
If you were wondering why the reaper wasn’t attacking you, it’s because they are quite lazy and will not just attack because they feel like it and it had just eaten several other things first, so it probably saw that the seamoth is a more difficult prey than the stalkers and sand sharks and just didn’t bother with it.
Not really. Reapers loop around their target. That's what he was trying to do. Retreat, so that he could ambush you later
More specifically, reapers only make their sounds as a deterrent at the start, so you will leave because they can see you. But if you don't, they'll come at you.
One thing people forget about the Reaper is that it's an animal, not a monster. Reapers will attack other creatures along with the player, so the only time one is going to zero in on you constantly is if there is no other prey around.
Beelz isn't scared of subnautica and his agreeable fear of the ocean, he's just afraid of playing the limited time godzilla dlc to hit indie game "Dave the Diver" for free on steam, because gojira scawy

As soon as I claw the intro, I knew for a FACT that the radar for the seamoth would help SO much. When I did my first playthrough the radar was my go to every SECOND that I had it
You wanna have fun? Try the Reaper Rodeo. Use the prawn's grapple arm on a leviathan and hang on for dear life.
Oh, and keep in mind it'll force the Reaper to change its territory, so don't do it near your base, or they'll never leave.
I had the worst thalassophobia moment possible in my first playthrough . I was swimming through the biome i've never visited before to get home from the second island. It was night time, and I could't see the bottom. But I got curious and desided to dive and check how deep is it...
200m below the surface, I was looking into an abyss and still didnt see the bottom. But the abyss looked back at me.. and said: "What... are... you?"
Who’s gonna tell him there’s a second game where you come back and explore the frozen tundra of the planet?
This one is kinda bad, there is a mod for subnautica that is better, but idk if launched yet
How do you know the mod is better if it isn't out yet
If I'm guessing right.. it's the return of the ancients mod.. it adds something far far bigger into the void
@@loung8640i wouldnt call it bad, it wouldnt look nearly as bad if the original wasnt this good. If you treat it like a dlc for people who enjoy lore, than its not that bad.

My favorite bit of meta lore from subnautica is that the devs said they weren't trying to make the game scary. They were just trying to capture the feeling of being underwater.
Well they did a good fking job!
I want a compilation of all of Beelz’s screams during this game
It genuinely hurt me to see you charging the power cells with the charger IN the cyclops. It’s the equivalent of plugging an extension cable into its self 💀
I discovered my fear of deep water watching a stream lay through of this game … I can’t even watch it on a large screen anything bigger than my phone freaks me out
i have thalassophobia and it was so cool learning beelz does aswell. i tried subnautica myself and could barely get past the initial jump into the water off the lifepod, so congrats for making it through the game despite your fear!
Same here
Reminds me of butchx3 playthrough
@@KodyThomas-ri7ieHis was a legendary playthrough.
try the game m8 the first biome is really safe and you can acclimatize to the feeling
i have my problems with the vastness and dangers of the ocean too but once you get your seamoth its different
you can finish the game without really interacting with the leviathans too
I have thalassophobia too and I love Subnautica. It's kinda therapeutic with how aesthetic it is, and gets it me out of my comfort zone
I played this in early access and while swimming around exploring in 'creative mode', I got lost in an unfinished area that would turn out to be the Inactive Lava Zone, there was nothing there except huge empty red caverns with ominous ambience, I panicked so hard I straight up quit the game, so you are a legend for finishing this Beelz.

Well done, Beelz! Proud of ya, man. Took a lot of willpower and determination not to bow out of something that is legitimately terrifying.
Beelz play Subnautica with Thalassophobia is something really special, I have waited for the Beelz's scream for soooooooo long
I love how sometimes the terror gets so bad, you just start tryna box the enemy. Like a rat facing a cat, it's great lol

yeah this is gonna be a fun video lmao
This should go on TV "Australian TH-camr Beelz overcame his thalassophobia and beat subnautica". This is a great accomplishment, and a huge encouragement to people with phobias. And man, watching this took me back to the old days when I binge-watched a subnautica playthrough for the first time. My god the nolstalgia! This game/series managed to create a vast ocean with every area designed in detail. The biomes and creatures are bizzare, some are also beautiful. Despite the bugs, this game/series is amazing.
Edit: This game is ten years old. I can't believe what the devs accomplished at that time. For some reason, I have much more memory of this game then subnautica below zero, weird. And yes Beelz, this means it's not over yet. I look forward to your subnautica below zero playthrough
irrational my ass, if my brain tells me there’s a reaper leviathan next to me whenever a piece of seaweed brushes my leg that’s my survival instinct working correctly.
It was a truly unnerving and incredible game. First time through I actually had physical reactions to the deep water areas and the first time I ran into a Reaper after hearing its roar, I had to pause it and step away. It is now one of my absolute favorite games and I play it through every few weeks. Plus, building the Cyclops is easily in my top five greatest game moments of all time!
*sees crab on island*
"ew EW!! ScAn iT"
The most passive, stalker hating reaper I've ever seen. They always see me from a mile away xD
They don’t see they scream
for a guy with Thalassaphobia you were braver and did more than I ever did in this damn game so well done
As someone who has played this game several times this amazing in a funny way just watching a man see the kind and generous emperor leviathan and just being completely terrified
I have a thalassophobia, when Iwas a kid around 4 years old, I almost drowned in the sea. Since then I really struggle even swimming in the pool. I tried playing subnautica to overcome my fear, I almost completed the game, but my pc died. While exploring the floating island, my gamer instinct kicked in, and I decided to climb up the mountain and perform a leap of faith. Once reaching the water in the middle of the island, I gasped so hard and chocked on the air, almost died of coughing. I’m pretty sure, that I haven’t got scared like that for a pretty long time, I guess that was the definition of primal fear.
To quote PDA about Reaper... "You can hear it, it can see you."
I remember finding subnautica when the reaper had like JUST been added. I watched it’s development from then to release. The fact that the game turned out how it did and is still popular to this day is really awesome
Sammy the Safety Reaper doing an awesome job as always, keeping players from going into the void 😊 He had to scare you at the end to make sure you werent gonna go further off the crater edge!
What you said about the ghostie was kinda relatable ngl. They are mostly annoying, while the seadragons are more majestic, but the reapers are fucking terrifying at first.
I have pretty severe agoraphobia so the surface messed me up more than most of the underwater sections did. Sparse Reef and the Void not included. Congrats on making it through your fear to finish the game!
As someone who has watch jack septics, Markiplier, and Dan TDM who have played this 6 years ago its honestly a amazing game
Beelz playing Subnautica can probably be summed up best by that one clip from Dragonball Z Abridged where Krillin sees Trunks break his sword and goes 'Ohhh noooo'.
Scanning the reaper, especially without using a stasis rifle, was ballsy af. Props to that.

"Cus Rubber is scary"
and that, my child, is how you were created
I don't have thalassophobia but subnautica made me have it.
Edit: What a awesome video Beelz. Thanks.
The reaper at the front of the aurora is always friendly his name is Jermy and he will eat peepers out of your hand instead of your face (this is real any reaper will eat out of your hand if you put a fish in the equip slot and hold it)
Good job on playing this game! As someone with thalassaphobia, this game was a nightmare to play and couldn't finish it
You know as someone who has seen the nonsense in Aus waters I can appreciate the fear you have of the ocean.
As a Polynesian from NZ who shares waters with orcas and leopard seals I find your fear amusing and it brings me joy 😊
So i absolutely adore subnautica, always have, adore the lore, adore the story, adore the world, watched multiple playthroughs and tidbit videos about majority of things people dont even bother thinking of. Which is funny, because ive never fully played through the game myself, the moment i stepped into it, i realised i had thalassophobia aswell and it wasnt just a weird fear from my childhood that i had repressed and thought went away, and spent the next 40 minutes in creative mode scuttling along the sea floor itching, nervous and disturbed despite knowing where everything is.
What a weird phobia
as someone who also has major Thalassophobia, and was indeed morbidly curious, this video was a genuinely very pleasant experience thanks to your Narration and attitude. I look forward to seeing more content from you!
The reason why the reaper didn't see you in that one scene is because reapers are blind but when they let out their Roar that's a form of echolocation so that means I can see you if you can hear them
I played subnautica years ago while I had thalassophobia, and had an actual panic attack. But, it is a 10/10 game, def should be in the horror section tho
One of the most enjoyable Subnautica playthroughs ive ever watched
When it came time to give a reaper the business, my favorite was using the prawn grapple like a lasso while i walloped it with the free arm.
"Irrational Fear", no Subnautica is wholly justifiable, and there are no ways to kill them. Dumb devs
Lovecraft said shit about "fear of the unknown" and there's a whole lotta unknown in the ocean, totally justified and rational to be afraid of that shit.
You are able to kill them just takes a while
I mean If you're already familiar with creatures in subnautica you already kill that fear
NOOO YOU DIDN'T SAY GOODBYE TO YOUR CUDDLEFISH, THEY JUST THINK THAT YOU'VE GONE OUT FOR SULPHR AND NEVER CAME BACK
I pet and cuddled him a bunch when I had to go back in order to kill the Reaper
@@Beelz55 Did you get the goodbye cutscene with them, it's heartbreaking
You were coloring your vehicles in colors only the fully colorblind could laugh about.
_You're just like me, frrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!_
The giant skeleton in the love the lost river was called the gargantuan leviathan. Someone made a mod where it was brought back to life. You should play it! You totally won’t $hit your pants…
24:09 what’s even more confusing about this, reapers have a type of echolocation so if you hear them, it sees you
The Sparse Reef isn't sparse because everything was eaten, it's sparse because there's an entrance to the lost river nearby. When the Kharaa broke containment, thanks to a dragon leviathan attacking the containment facility, it didn't affect life in the lost river because the water was too cold but when it driften up into the sparse reef, where the water was warmer.. it killed everything.
Im so glad i get to see this experience despite missing the streams. The panic you have is insanely entertaining
Didn't expect the guy I know for Skul: The Hero Slayer videos to make a Subnautica video, but I am absolutely here for it.
Yaaaayyy, been waiting for this. Watched the vods as background noices and always wanted to see them to be made into video form. Glad to see it happened
Love to see that you first built you vehicle before going to aurora, because I went there way sooner than I should and I was so scary lmao
Subnautica Below Zero next? Also that massive skeleton in the lost river, there's a mod that adds that creature back into the game... and its terrifying
I feel like the chat made the Sunbeam portion even worse. Up until he's near the edge of the island, he's more than likely safe.
This game was on development for several years, and a lot of things changed / was removed from the game.
The most unique survival game imo.
Below zero is a sequel and some lore refers to things that happens in the original. It doesnt have the great impact the first game does, but still worth playing.
And the devs confirmed Subnautica 2 will be a thing... Probably next year.
oh yeah, the orange tablet. It was never implemented. The door exists, and I think there is some stuff behind it, but the tablet was never actually added into the world. I think you can spawn it in though.
Absolutely Love this style of video beels.
The voice over made it really engaging and fun
The stuff behind the orange tablet door is one of the cute guy egg, like 3 or 4 ion cubes, and a bunch of rubies
Maaaaaaaaaaan, where the hell do you find orange tablets??? I also learned there's apparently alien doors like this all over in other biomes too. My god...
They are in a secret area in the grand reef base
@@TheGamingGuyYT Yeah that makes sense
Alright, so, two things.
One, I am very impressed that you decided to play the game regardless for your fear of open waters.
Two, the songs that you play in the video, they are such BANGERS. Any time you make a montage and play your own music, it's always a blast, something that I would listen to, including different games with montages that you make.
Anyways, that's all from me. Have a nice rest of your day Beelz, and anyone else reading this comment :D
there is a bug where in the end game you have infinite oxygen after going through one of the portals with prawn
you know watching this video makes me think I might have some kind of phobia for the ocean but it mainly kicks in when something is going wrong, Im somewhat calm, not fully but able to just breathe my way through it as I try to stay calm cause I already know something is gonna hit my sub i just need to be ready, but the second that thing starts attacking and the sub starts to creak and I am faced with the threat of the whole thing breaking and leaving me in the dark at 1000's of feet thats when I start to panic, my heart just instantly goes a mile a minute and I lose all composure. I thought it was just the stress of suddenly being thrown into red alert by the attack but watching the trip to the Aurora and just how menacing the cliff was made me realize that its just the dark unknown of the ocean,
Im fine with the thin layer of separation of the sub for my character but when its just your guy versus the fish, hell no!
Absolute hats off to you for making it through this game when you have thalassophobia. I love, love, love this game, and I generally find it relaxing, but I have never scanned the sea dragon and it took me a long time to dare to scan the reaper and ghost leviathans.
I’m can’t believe how brave you were! The video was super fun, too. I’m subscribing, and hoping you’ll play Subnautica Below Zero as well.
Great video, now onto the next Subnautica! The crabsquid was the scariest part for me because I didn't see it before I was in that base where you found the cyclops shield and it did the EMP move when i first saw it.
Congratulations on beating Subnautica. Also, great job with the narration on this. It was a lot of fun to listen to.
The way you can tell veelz slowly gets more comfortable throughout the play through shows you really can overcome your fears. Good job beelz!
It was pretty cool getting to see it happening as I was editing. The playthrough was like 40 hours, so it felt VERY gradual to me at the time.
@@Beelz55 bummer that you didn't checked out "Ghost Leviathan Abyss". A vast, bottomless, pitch black pit with infinite supply of ghosties.
Why, just why such great videos come out on such small channels, that you could never find them without searching them directly? That's lovely experience, keep up the good job.
1:12:48 yeah that's a completely accurate statement I've been playing the game since it was in beta, I've lost count of how many times I've beaten this game yet just a few weeks ago i found a location ive never been to and an entrance to the purple shroom cave i never knew about.
15:00 You know.. you didn't have to go through the entire cave to reach that base.. there's a hole in the cave cieling right above the base that takes you to the safe shallows lol. You can also easily take out those worms by ramming them with the seamoth a few times.

I waited for this so long, but also i need to congratz u for playing this and have a good time HAHAHA
i think it’s safe to say that you came and conquered the land (water) of subnautica well done
This is actually remarkably similar to my playthrough except I kept all the fear, screams and panic on the inside.. like a man. This game with thalassophobia is a journey, man. It gets a lot easier once you actually know what's out there and where to avoid. I remember when I first started, I tried to reach the floating island by swimming there on the surface.. and I missed it by a mile, I swam right out over the void and didn't even know until a giant fucking ghost leviathan breached the water right beside me. I panic quit the game so fast lol
23:40 The most australian train of thought in the whole video.
What an awesome video, great work!
This game made me *terrified* of the ocean and then (mostly) cured that fear by the end. I'm impressed by how well you handled it. Even though they're tanks the Prawn and the Cyclops made me feel so goddamn vulnerable so I only used them when I was practically forced to, it's always funny to see whether or not streamers/youtubers feel safer in them or hate them as much as I did haha. Also very smart to challenge the Leviathans head on the way you did, I avoided them entirely for both my playthroughs so they still make my blood run cold.
Wish I could've caught it live but the edited version was incredible. Hope I can see you play Subnautica 2 live whenever it comes out!
This game is terrifying and I’m proud of you for completing the game
This game is actually the most terrifying thing I've ever played. I'm not far but I can get in the Aurora, but I haven't done it yet. I've visited two islands and just skimmed the top of the water the whole time lmao
This was lovely. I enjoyed the streams. I hope you still enjoyed the game despite your struggle. Thanks for pushing through.
Also, this is probably your best video to date. I bet it was a lot of work, but it is top tier Beelz. His all the reasons you are a main channel for me.
the silly friend reaper at the aurora really cracked me up
I hope you play Subnautica below zero after this. I know it is a little different from the first, but it has an interesting story and some new fun things added.
We had fun and you should be proud of yourself for facing your fears. Keep up the good work.
Oh damm another one of these! Loved people doing this since Greg did it
BIG props for being able to pull this off even despite your fear ^^
the pod was salt then the moth was pepper and then the suit was garlic and after all that you left the planet on the STEAK
this game actually cured my thalassophobia and my fear of the unknown. that's cool!
Great video, can't believe that I procrastinated and ended up watching this all night instead of doing my assignment. I do wish you had the chance to go to the Dead Zone and the Dunes but maybe something to consider for a future follow-up video?
So, you have Thalassophobia and are playing "Subnautica"? Treat this game like an extended therapy session as you "explore the deep and dark" after the Safe Shallows. Take heart, more Thalassophobes have "gotten Alterra's bill" than other kinds of players. Strap in, this is a roller coaster ride that can be very rewarding.
my thalassophobia got a lot better when i sort of.. eradicated subnauticas wildlife, but its still incredibly scary for me to go to large bodies of water, even at a beach
