Probably one of the very few people in all of youtube who ONLY tested the OPTICAL performance of the zoom. Nearly everybody who buys a superzoom camera goes crazy with the digital zoom without having a clue about the difference between the two. Observation: I noticed that the camera "loses" its focus as you zoom in and only regains it when it reaches the end, at 50x. But the lens reach at its largest optical focal length is astonishing! Thank you for the excellent tests.
So this camera obsoletes binoculars. You can use this instead for spying on your enemies... If only this have night vision, this could be a perfect James Bond gadget, hehehe.
What is the quality of the photos? Is it better or the same as in panasonic fz 1000? Would you recommend it to the advanced amateur? This or some initial dslr model? Thank you!
I used the Velbon c-600 tripod. It's a basic good stand but not so stable and close to zooming even the smallest movements are very easy to see. The remote control/phone application would also be a great addition to manage the camera.
I would say that when the lighting is okay, the camera will do good video! Battery life could be a bit better when doing video a lot. The camera was not expensive, good value for money!

The amount of camera shake. he must have been hand held. Do'nt confuse the quality of the image. The quality will be improved when the canera is tripod mounted.
I was just about to rush buying this camera. Then I looked the specs and find out that the sensor is ridiculously Small. Same thing on every superzoom, Camera technology goes fast but Still full-frame costs too fucking much!
Maybe meanwhile you will have noticed to get a lens that long for a full frame camera will be a few kilo's and cost you an arm and a leg. The sensor is smaller then a fullframe, but it is larger then most cameras and cellphones. I think it is a good compromise. But hey, I'm just talking about what I saw. Now the Nikon D1000 is out with a 3000 mm lens, but has a smaller sensor then this one... I wonder of which the quality is better.
@@SjaakSchulteis Actually P1000 has sensor size of 6.17 × 4.55 mm and this Sony has that same within it. That is the way they had that insane zoom (smaller sensor, longer zoom) and that is ridiculously small. Compare it to full frame 36 mm × 24 mm. My Sony full frame with kit lens cost a bit less than P1000 and is a lot lighter. I care about image quality and bigger sensor equals as better quality. But is someone does not care about quality, or uses camera as a telescope, then P1000 or this would be a good thing to buy.

Watch a video of the Nikon Coolpix P1000 ;) it zooms more then doule as far as this camera.

Camera/ pic very shaky when you use extreme focus. Was it hand held or on a tripod. If so, what are the final pics like.

Would you mind making some recommendations of non-detachable lens cameras that are great in low light?
My sister has a Fujifilm X-S1 camera it is at least better than in my low light. I'm not really familiar enough to say anything else.
Something with a 1" sensor would be better. Though I do love my HX400.

Looks like lightweight tripod plus high wind to me. Think also image stabilisation was mucking the shots up a bit.
