I used a Freefly MOVI last year attending college. It was cool. Just took awhile to setup.

This was super enlightening! I really want to use a gimbal but I think the paintbrush example was spot on.. I need it for different strokes in my videos. Also, the addition of some old videos would be SO helpful because I just kept thinking, “maybe this would be a good place to add the videos” 😅 awesome video, though 🤘🏼

Love your videos but on this I'd disagree, both have their advantages and depends on the operator, here is an example how a proper gimbal setup looks like and can be ready in under 3min. @
What I don't like is often when this comparison is made, it's always a more expensive complete steadicam setup compared to a low budget unreliable gimbal setup. It's more fair to compare with a same priced truly complete MoVi setup.

I don’t think you watch the whole video because that was exactly the point that both have their purposes and both are great in certain conditions we praised both of them.

@@TheBuffNerds oh yes, don't get me wrong, def great points were mentioned in regard of electronic gimbal usage, I was more referring to that a full MoVi gimbal setup in cine style (e.g. incl. FIZ and transmitters) can take less than 3min when prepped ready unlike the often heard 10-15min setup times. Feel free to check out the "MoVi" one I shared on my channel, maybe it will give you guys also some cool other ideas. I also love to use it for quick top down shots, by placing it directly on two rails and raising it up with two stands. From there on you can adjust with the remote the exact framing and rec settings in seconds. And on the other side I think one other good point to mention is, steadicam always wins in rain xD, cause you can protect it so much easier than a gimbal with all the exposed axis motors.

Couldn't agree with Jake more if I tried, everyone and their dog had these gimbals on productions, basically with zero movement.Unless you're running or moving several steps, there's literally zero need for a gimbal. All these kids in the UK buy their little GH5 or whatever, slap it on a gimbal with a wide angle lens, no FF motor system and just weave it about to create some kind of 'movement' in the shot for absoutly zero reason.
They have a purpose for sure, but unless you're hanging out of a car, running or doing major movement. I think they are an overused tool that just makes the shot look so pedestrian in a lot of circumstances. Rigged up & Handheld all the way for me on 90% of my shoots. If you get a nice heavy camera system rigged up, there's far less micro jitter and if your a good operator, you should be able to do nearly all of your work bar extreme movement shots without a gimbal in my opinion.
