  • This is a quick review of the Current USA Loop Bluetooth Loop system on my fairly new 55 gallon saltwater tank.
The light fixtures, the powerheads, the Bluetooth controller, the app itself and the features are covered.

Could you tell me what your light setting is on your loop for your soft corals. I can't find a video with someone telling me. What the light settings should be.

So you had trouble getting coral growth? I got two light strips for my tank. Do you think that will help?

I found your channel looking into the loop system. I am doing research in order to set up a tank with a 36x18" footprint. I have a few 40 breeders, or a 50g that is the same footprint just a couple inches taller. I'm looking into options like these, the strip type lights, so that it can be low profile and sit on top of the tank, or inside a small hood. The black box lights or most of the high end LED options all seem to need to be hung 12-24" above the tank, and I don't want a 2ft tall hood.
The lights I am considering are Current USA and Fluval Sea 3.0. I like the programmable day/night settings, and the gradual ramp up and down. Not super interested in the sound aspect or the storms/weather part.
Do you think these lights would grow sofies, such as Mushrooms, Zoas, Polyps, Torch, Xenia and GSP...and maybe a couple less demanding hard corals...this would be in a tank less than 20" deep...?
If I don't go with the Current USA system, I would probably look into other powerhead options that can give some random/variable flow...

Aloha...my tank is a 4 foot long 55 gallon, and I had 2 of the 4 foot Current USA Orbit Marine IC light fixtures on it. Key word tricky phrase had...two of those lights on a tank that is 21 inches deep didn't help with growth.
If you were running a FOWLER I'd say these lights are fine, but I couldn't get any of my of my frags to grow.
Maybe if your tank is shallower you 'might' have better luck? My tank was too deep for them though and I ended up swapping them out for another set of lights I had (AI Prime HDs).
I don't have any experience with the Fluval lights, so I don't know if they'd be enough.
I did like how easy the Loop system was to hookup and how controllable it was, but those LEDs just didn't work well in my tank.

@@scottsbudgetreef370 thanks for replying... i may try one small one on a QT tank for starters, I found a 24-36" Gen2 model listed for $99... that tank will likely be a FOWLR setup once the 2 displays are stocked and QT is no longer needed.... (I always have spare tanks around should need arise for a hospital)

Nice tank! Are you using the pre-programmed Day spectrum settings?

On the loop? It's sitting boxed up.
I shifted to AI Prime Hds I had from an Der tank. Couldn't get any growth out of the loop. It's got cool features, but very weak on PAR

I got them because the tank sits in my living room area any other light would really get in the way when watching tv etc.

    How's the shimmer effects?

    • @scottsbudgetreef370
      @scottsbudgetreef370  3 ปีที่แล้ว

The loop really didn't have too much shimmer...but it's also pretty weak on lumens. I couldn't manage any coral growth with it.
