I hope you might dicuss some of the sequels, these games were a corner stone of my childhood, aside from the more recent ones which seem to have slowly forgotten what chibi robo actually is about in favor of slowly turning him into just another platformer
I haven’t played any of the sequels because I thought they were too separated from the original in style and theme! But I will check them out now! Thanks for the recommendation
@@theflak3z i distinctly have memory of I believe the one focused on taking care of the environment in my childhood on I believe the DS or 3ds, it was a fun game even tho I was a kid with no money so only played the demo to 100% completion like 10 times before I was locked out of it, someday I'd like to use TOTALLY ONE HUNDRED PERCENT LEGIT MEANS SINCE THE ESHOP FOR THOSE DEVICES NO LONGER EXISTS to play it properly, but from what I've seen of the most recent release at least with chibi robo zip, they basically stripped the soul of the character completely in favor of "look at your child hood character in a extremely generic platformer" much like PlayStation did to sack boy after little big planet 3 with sack boys big adventure and it started making me feel deeply nostalgic for these games past, where they actually had heart and soul and weren't shoved into blatant nostalgia cash grabs that completely misunderstood what made these characters games so fun to begin with
@@theflak3z chibi robo's sequels may not have necessarily kept the same plot for each sequel game, but most of them had the same overarching theme of discussing and incentivizing incredibly healthy conversations and interactions with important adult ideas and problems and the emotional and even physical consequences of those problems, like you've shown here going over the emotional to game play story telling of a family in tatters growing as you help them fix and come to terms with their issues, the game I think I'm thinking of spent it's focus instead of chibi taking care of a household he takes care of a garden, fighting off evil creatures created from the filth and build up of humans not taking care of where we choose to simply toss our unwanted stuff, there were heavy themes around abandonment, recovery, and taking better care of the world around you in that game that even tho I only got to play the demo all those years ago, definitely live rent free in my head today, especially as those lessons only grow in relevance to this day
I remember watching the review for this on X-Play way back in the day and thinking it looked super cool. But I wasn't the one in the family with a gamecube, so I didn't get to play it until gc emulation got decent. It was well worth the wait.
This is a GREAT video. I am really appreciating the more recent resurgance of Chibi-Robo love and yeah, you hit the nail on the head for why we all love it so much. Thank you for this.
Love this style of video! Great quality editing too. Keep up the great work. I’ve never played this game but I feel so inspired to get a plug in my butt now! I mean a chibi robo… I feel inspired to get a chibi robo
Borrowed Chibi Robo from a friend as a kid and loved it, but could never find it being sold anywhere used or otherwise which was a bummer, but last time I saw a copy for it at a shop around 6ish years ago it was 200$ then the next time less than a year later it was like $500 and it was then that I knew I would never own the game sadly. That said I did end up learning there was a sequel, like an actual sequel involving Jenni as a single mother, that was released only in Japan on the DS which after having got a copy and played it I found part of the reason it might have stayed in Japan was that it had a full-blown casino in it run by a toy mafia of sorts. That all said I was very sad to learn that the studio that made the series was closed after the failing of Ziplash, but some of the devs from the studio have successfully funded a kickstarter for a spiritual successor to the original game so that's kinda cool.
@flak3z-1 oh heck yeah! It's actually insane how the community is coming back together now that they got the game in the works (that or I haven't been in the right spaces)
I recently played chibi robo unfortunately I could get past the giga robo flashback due to emulator limitations but from what all I had played it was a pretty solid game
