Basically the only thing i remember about Awakening is that Donnel has literally the most busted stat growth in the game, (if not series) enabling him to basically become a god among men. He didnt even need to change classes, he would just obliterate everything with his E-tier copper spear
This is really good, I hope you keep making videos like this. The narrative is engaging, and has good flow. The memes and running-gags add to the humour without becoming over-used or cringe. And the story you've told is similar to my own experience of playing Awakening; very relatable.
Bro, this video is peak and completely sums up my awakening experience... I will never, never forget when a 2% crit crited and destroyed Cordelia. I was in that map for about 40 minutes, at the end, so, sorry Cordelia, but you will not be forgotten... That changed something inside of me...
It's fun to hear about how chaotic it was to start of Classic. I was only perhaps 8 or 9 and just shared the cartridge from my older brother, and chose the easy mode because I didn't want to think. I then proceeded not to think much, best seen with pairing up Lissa with Robin because she "couldn't fight at all!" and such. But when Owain with MY Pink hair rolled up, it ticked something in my brain. I may had not played well, but I certainly played Shipping Simulator like a pro LOL. Some were ultimately a bit odd, but I loved doing it. But for some reason, my next thought was to do Lunatic next. And I became excessively optimized there. When Chapter 2 hit me like a truck, it's the strongest of strategies from there ONLY. And if anything goes wrong... L+R+Start. While I wrote out Shipping Charts for the optimized kids and cute pairings, plugged in info to stat calculators to find good class routes, and ultimately was super careful, I reset a TON trying to keep everybody alive while still using every unit I could. What a foolish mistake that was... I sadly resorted to buying the EXP DLC map in the end. Oh and to add to the Waifu wars, that Lunatic playthrough I S-ranked Anna. I wanted a Robinsexual character so I could try and use every unit, but I didn't want to wait until Tiki for Morgan. But Anna turned out to be an amazing unit! I always thought Anna was very pretty, so... she was my first true "Waifu". "Best Girl" as they say.
Great video, when it comes to pairings, I too go with whoever I like the most be paired. But there’s always that ONE unit that gets to be forever alone. Sometimes it’s Henry or Ricken, so one of them is all like “what the hell?!” As everyone else is getting married. Classic. I only really have three go to ships for my playthroughs. Chrom and Sumia, just for conveniences, Cordelia and Gregor, because that shit just works. And finally me with… SAY’RI (wow)!!!
Don't give up, man. It'll be really funny when you get a samurai ninja Maid with maxed out skill who one shots enemies. I assure you, the real point of Fates is to make the most absurdist build humanly possible and then win with it.
Awakening was my first FE game and i was not prepared for how much 3Houses would completely explode me :) have you ever played that game? I played Awakening like over 4 times and im on a 5th or 6th run rn just for fun haha but im pretty much building my units' stats and levels haha. Interesting pair list you have! I was super shocked you paired Henry with Miriel. Have you seen his supports with Olivia?! But in the end I cant decide on pairing him with her or *THARJA* so... i gave himself to me :) gave Olivia Stahl and Tharja to Lon'qu!
7:04 the implication that Nah is Tiki’s daughter and that kellam was the lucky bastard who landed her… better than what we get in canon. *shudders at Nowi* why, FE? Just stop with this trope! Also that ending when we saw your couples, yeah I can Chromia as canon but we all knew who you paired Robin with from a mile away… THARJA (wow)!
I had a similar scenario, but there was not a happy ending. I was playing FE Engage for the first time, no game knowledge, classic mode, long story short everyone died except for Alear because Alear can't die unless you want a game over screen, that playthrough made me a cautious player
Thankfully, Awakening isn't too brutal about permadeath being on since you get flavia and Basilo(?) in the late game and chrom gets powerful tools and is good anyway. As is robin. And the child units. And so on.
I don't trust what internet tells me to do so for the first game that I've finished (Engage) I chose Normal and Casual. Tried Awakening too later on (due to me onwing an used copy way before it was hella rare) but I dropped it, too boring compared to Toku Emblem.
I never bothered with Permadeath mode in Fire Emblem. I can take losing a fight, but I refuse to lose a unit just because of a screwup on my part or because of an ambush I didn't predict. I also prefer pairing Donnel with either Tharja or Sully & Gaius with Nowi. Marrying Donnel & Gaius with either Nowi, Sully, or Tharja is the ONLY way to give the Pegasus Knight classes to Nah, Kjelle, or Noire! I know the Avatar can do that too of course, but I like experimenting with all the different pairings so that's not always possible for me. I also made sure that Virion & Henry get married off so they get unambiguously happy endings.
yeah I feel like the internet is like YOU HAVE TO PLAY PERMADEATH... but maybe we should offer the alternative too??? some people like it when their units survive
@@theflak3z I've only taken certain kinds of advice from the internet. I use guides to an extent so I know where to find the good stuff on certain maps. I've also used guides to help me decide on certain pairings. Anything else I disregard. I'll decide how I want to play & which game mechanics I'll engage with. If the devs wanted us to ONLY use Permadeath, then they wouldn't have bothered giving us the option to turn it off. I'm also willing to bet that some people probably aren't being honest when they say they play with permadeath either.
@@theflak3zYou know what they say, you're not playing Fire Emblem unless you angrily restart the chapter because the unit you were going to bench anyways dies to a 3% crit
Sorry for the weird ass audio btw... tbh I have no idea why it got so screwed up but NEXT video will be CLEAN AF

wish I had been able to experience this 😭 found out much later how busted he was

NOOOOOO RIP Cordelia
Lmao Virion got no maidens
the man was a little desperate HAHAHA
Played Awakening last year, thought I could go through the entire game without bonding with anyone... Then Tharja came along.
a person of culture I see
Chrom caught me off guard in the beginning lolzzzz
no you
Nice video! Currently, the method I''m pairing units by is the quality of their ending paragraph
good methodology!!
This one farm kid dying became your canon event
My entire life has been defined by the farm kid

glad you found your waifu :)

😍
When I got Fire Emblem on my game boy sp I would treat the battles like a puzzle and start the map over if anyone died until I figured it out.

Im playing Fates for the first time, and ive literally given up on skills and decided to only use master seals to promote haha
definitely easier than using a spreadsheet HAHAHA

Tharja Lonqu is TOO MUCH TO HANDLE and yes 3 Houses absolutely ruined me too! (I’ll have to go back and check out Henry/Olivia thanks for the info)

true I had plenty to work with!
Why did we made almost the same pairs in our first awakening playthrough? Were they really that obvious?

Tiki in the thumbnail but she shows up twice in the video
For shame
she is but one of many waifus I am afraid
