      Yeah no problem bro. Allotta ppl tap into the rear speakers and then wonder why they need a LC1 to recover bass. Just tap into the front speakers. They’re full range.

      @@daviedave0915 well if the moneys spent may as well use it. I didn’t show in this video but later I saved like $200 (vs LC7) by using Kicker’s speaker wire to RCA adaptors (only $10) and then plugging RCA directly into the amp. This works if your amp accepts “high level inputs”

    I had GC last year I had my 10W7 in there but also changed door speakers. Now I got my 21 Cherokee and everything was replaced as well (including headunit).

    Just bought a 2018 GC and took my speakers out of my BMW today. Got 3 10" MTX thunders in a thick plaster box with plexiglass back and a 4000 watt amp from planet audio. Don't think I'll be able to hide my 0g wires under the trim tho 😂 glad to know the install will be relatively easy!!

    You can also just tap into the rear speaker w/ a line inverter to supply feed to the subs . Without tapping/ touching the dash

      It’s easier to tap up front to me. Also, the front speakers provide full range so I could add another amp if I wanted by adding rca between the amps

      Sound quality is the same .. it’ll be better only if you actually tap into a factory low pass line aka factory subwoofer ( adding a sub) . Sole purpose of a Line converter

    I had a 2020 and didn’t like the battery under the seat. Now I have a 2022 and the battery is back under the hood. I actually wish it was under the seat because it would be easier to hook up power to the amp.

    Great video, learned a lot and helped me with my install. One question I have is which factory wire did you splice the blue remote turn on wire on the hi-lo converter? Or did you not have to splice it and it just kicked on from the speaker signal?

      I didn’t splice the remote wire. After splicing the power and making a ground, the converter generates power through the remote wire to connect to the amp.

    I don’t know if yours has it but besides the amp I powered off the 12V outlet in the rear. Also installed the in line converter back there as well. I just didn’t want to mess with the dash.

    How did you bypass the ANC? My 2021 has it and I get the hum. I tapped my sound off the Factory sub in the back rather than removing the headunit.

      I don’t have ANC. A guy once told me he had to disconnect the ANC mics on the roof. They’re wired in series so disconnecting one works for all of them

    the remote wire next to rca doesnt do anything at all to worry about anything its the power wire that you cant run next to the rca. In fact Monster had a rca wire that had the remote in the rca wire.. made running cables so much easier. been doing this over 20 years and never had any issues with it

    Did you have to upgrade the gauge of your alternator wire to the battery at all? I have an Hifonics Gemini Elite 1500.1 that I run two Skar SDRs down to 1ohm mono.

      No remote wire form the radio. It came from the low output converter

    I have a 2014 grand cherokee which has a stock sub would it be easier to connect the subs to the factory amp that is in the cargo area which isn’t that hard to access to

      Wassup dawg, my jeep is a 2015 and I’m not sure if the wiring colors for the head unit are the same as yours. I have power to my amp, turns on and off when it’s supposed to but my wires behind the head unit have to be in the wrong place. Any suggestions??

    I got a kicker cx 800 amp running that same box is that enough at halfway and do you need to bridge the speakers to one ohm To match the one ohm amp or does it come factory like that

      This box Comes factory at 2ohm. I guess u could take the subs about a rewire them down to the ohm. You probably still wouldn’t have a 1000rms output from that amp though cus it’s rated for 800.

    I’m about to run a similar setup in my 2020 Jeep. When I hooked the system up in my last car(2015 Mitsubishi outlander sport), as soon as I hooked the battery back up I started getting an airbag system service required light. Some people said that with the newer cars you have to plug something in when you disconnect the battery to retain factory settings and that was the reason I started getting that light since I didn’t do that. Have you seen anything like that in the Jeep? Last thing I want is to get warning lights after hooking it up.

      Haven't seen this problem. This car technically has two batteries so even when to disconnect the one I show in the video you should keep all settings

    With them new kicker amps too you can buy kicker k series rcas and cut off the other end and run it straight into speaker leads no need for separate LOC. just change input to high

      No it all has to stay connected. If you disconnect the speakers they won’t feed a signal. I didn’t know that when I made this video

    I tapped into my front speakers.Using the speaker color chart you listed.When I plug both RCA’s to the amp.It gets really low but If I unplug one it works better.Any ideas on what could be cause that?

      You may have wires crossed. Probably connected a positive where a negative goes etc.

      I didn’t have that but I’ve been told you can disconnect the mics in the ceiling. If you disconnect one it should disconnect them all

    Okay so I’m doing this on my 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee I did everything you did basically wired it all to the head unit no connections are lose I got power to my app remote wired up to a Metra loc and and everything has power but I get no output through my sub or a speaker that I tested as well, The only thing I’m thinking I did wrong is wired the wrong wires in the head unit

      hey the rear speakers are designed to cut out bass. you need to tap the front speakers. sorry, i learned this after i made the video

    You need an audio quest lc2 line out converter, that'll solve your problem. I have a 2015 cherokee with an alpine pdr m65 with a type r 12 wired to 2 ohm and a lc2. The lc2 with boost the low frequency to the amp because the head unit and a certain volume and beyond will not amplify the signal. Factory head unit will start clipping above 75%. I usually have volume at around 28 to 32.

      The wiring on the Jeep side would be the same. The LOC should tell which wire is which on its package

      Low Output Converter.
      Turns stock radio signal into a rca signal that the amp can read

      No! The loc should create its own remote wire which will be blue

    Thanks bro, definitely nice to have a good TLDR of how this thing comes apart. BTW, that plug used on the back of the head unit is the same style used for ECM’s on lots of stuff, especially big rigs.
    Does anyone know if the dealer will void a warranty over doing this install? I’m a professional mechanic so doing the work right isn’t any issue. I just don’t mess with cars that much (I’m a diesel mechanic) so I don’t know how the dealership I got my GC from will act if I do this install.

      We just got ours like 5 days ago. We lost our home and most of our possessions to a house fire (no one was hurt thankfully) and the heat of the fire melted the wiring harness of her old car. So I started looking at cars without her and then surprised her once I bought it. I just wanted her to have something much nicer than what she had with all the features I know she has been wanting so it would help ease that part of this crappy situation. That and now I have an excuse to go get me a truck in the near future. lol.

    I had a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the low-end stereo and yeah, that thing sucks. I just got a 2022 with 19 speakers and 950 Watts and it’s much better. I think I still want to add a single 10” or 12” JL Audio subwoofer in it.

      Yeah I tend to avoid factory upgrades at the dealership cus I’m prone to ripping shit out anyway😂
      If your sticking to JL audio 10” they have a stealthbox that replaces the factory sub. It’s expensive but saves space.

      Most likely a four channel amp to amp up the door speakers. This should increase the volume.
      I’m also swapping my door speakers today without an amp. This helps with clarity but sometimes they can also be louder than the stock speakers.

    I helped my.bro do this today . did a nice clean install and now no power to the head unit the only thing i did different was i spliced the line level converter into the ground wire on the head unit instead of mounting it to the chassis witch really shouldn't matter but maybe it did. but now there is no power to the head unit and out of the 100 stupid fuses in this thing none tell you witch is the radio and i can't seem to find any bad fuses under the hood and i can't find any fuses under the dash how in the hell is there no power to the head unit now the 2 power wires going to it are dead and we didn't short anything out i don't get how this could happen . can any one tell me the fuse the runs the head unit?

      iIRC Ground on this radio is a thick black blue wire

      So if you spliced into that wire it should still work. My guess is that you may have shorted the system out somewhere. If so I’m not sure what fuse fixes it.

      By tapping behind the radio you effectively tap BEFORE the factory amp and bypass it. Make sure the tap the front speakers not the rear. You can probably leave the stock sub connected if you want but otherwise disconnect it in the back

      @@reytijerina7496 they could be talking about the active noise canceling thing some systems have. I’ve been told that can be disabled by disconnecting one of the mice in the headliner. I haven’t had to do it but I’ve heard it’s easy access through the sunroof. They are wired in a straight line so you only need to disconnect 1 to shut it all off

With this '22 cherokee, i jus unplugged the sub and tapped into the LF input side of the factory amp. Have to finish running rca's tomorrow. Great video. Really appreciate your time and advice.

      The Loc will tell you which wire is which (yellow is positive etc). Catch is the unconnected system won’t send a signal if the speakers are disconnected. I found this out after I uploaded the video so amp tuning would have to be done while the speaker is connected. Just do it quickly so your door speakers aren’t damaged lol

      Also. Cut the wires behind the harness. I extended each wire I cut with some speaker wire then splice into the speaker wire. This gives more room to work with.

      @@sneakafanatic use front. Rear have “bass roll off” where the bass stops getting louder as you turn it up. Front doesn’t have this problem. Also, I later learned that you should set the radio to about 28 using Bluetooth before you set the gains on the amp.
