    Just replaced my starter relay 3 days ago. Today my truck wouldn’t start. Found your video. Did the paper clip jump; battery and starter both check good. Replaced the same relay and my truck started up…bought a new relay as a spare! Glad I had that paper clip.Thanks

    Been trouble shooting my 06 Duramax no crank no start. First off this was the best explanation on this that I’ve been able to find, thank you!

    I appreciate the video! My ignition is all loose and sloppy making it very hard to “crank.” I ran a momentary switch between the starter relay poles like you said and boom! Truck cranks perfect!

    Heh. My 2004 silverado just decided early yesterday evening not to crank while parked on a hillside on my acreage with a load of junk wood. It doesn't even click. I'm going to give this a try (and maybe deoxit the ignition switch. Thanks for this video.
    BTW, yes the battery is fully charged and jumping didn't help. It doesn't even click. Nothing.

      @@bigvince1978 yep. The starter was bad. Thanks to TH-cam, swapping it out was easier than I expected.
      The gear had no spring tension. It just slid back and forth on the shaft by hand🧤

      Mine still won't crank from key. I can jumper starter relay and it will crank. Any ideas. New starter and ignition module

      @ReasonablySane ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eldudeareno11 I had that happen on an old 60s Chevy. The battery terminals all looked clean and the battery was fully charged. I ended up replacing the starter and the alternator before I decided to take out the battery. And when I did, one of the terminals fell off the battery. It was not tightened down. I simply tightened down both terminals got in the car and it started right up
      Yeah, pretty stupid mistake. At least it was round 1982 so I was young and stupid.

    Hey man I have no power at the crank fuse when attempting to crank I have already replaced the ignition switch the relays good when I cross the relay over it starts or when I run power to the crank fuse it starts am I going to be looking at the park or neutral safety switch or the gear shift indicator on the side of the transmission?

    What would cause the starter to stay engaged after it turns on? I just put a new master ignition switch in and a starter.

  • @primetimetacticaltraining
    @primetimetacticaltraining 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    So, if you connect those two prongs and it doesn’t crank, considering you don’t have battery issues does that mean the starter is bad?

  • @ezeytricks410
    @ezeytricks410 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do starter fuse look different because mine doesn’t look like that but my truck recently stopped turning on the only way to turn it on is to tap the fuse while someone turns the key?

  • @NickMattia44
    @NickMattia44 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Will any of this affect the actual key getting stuck in the ignition? My key will turn halfway then stop and it takes a lot of messing with to get it to turn over. I think the ignition cylinder might be bad

  • @nathanvega6281

    I just bought a 2003 Sierra and the battery gets drained overnight.
    I googled some stuff and the most probable cause is a faulty relay.
    Already fixed it and I have no more problems.
    Could you make a video explaining such issues in more detail for people who wants to know.

    Do I have to unplug the battery to remove relays??

    • @rileysilva9358
      @rileysilva9358 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most important is not to have the vehicle running. If you're going to check for corrosion, you might as well do it it first. Sensors you can look at to see if they've blown, and are no good. To check relays, you'll want the battery plugged in. You'll need to attempt to turn the vehicle over. If you test/replace the relay and or fuse,and the vehicle turns over, theres you're issue/solution.

    Need help!
    2003 GMC Sierra SLT
    2 wheel drive
    200,000+ miles
    Crank but no start.
    Replaced fuel pump
    Throttle body
    Idle position sensor
    AGR valve
    Map Sensor.
    I have fuel and fire.
    2 weeks ago I started it, drove it out the drive way, got about half a mile down the road, when it started idling really high, then bogging out, and finally died. I got it started, but it wouldn't go over 5 mph. I got it parked, now it won't start.

    • @enthused7591
      @enthused7591 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you figure this out? I had a crankshaft position sensor go bad and it cranked but didn't start and would hiccup every once in a while before doing that. it's located behind the starter and should throw a code, but I would think you don't have spark or fuel when it's bad.

    • @blkhemi3925
      @blkhemi3925 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@enthused7591 mine drives fine for 45 minutes, and then shuts off. Then, It won't start for about 30 minutes. Then, it'll stall again after about 20 minutes. No frigen clue.

    I'm guessing that the fact that there's no battery might be the problem.
