Playing with electrical components is always a project. Love the way it turned out. I also feel the same about not having a rats nest of wires behind the dash.
Damn. Wish I would have got these mirrors for my 07’ I went with the 08’-16’ mirrors. Figured the 17’+ wouldn’t mount because it’s a completely new truck. Clean install. I’m OCD like that too.
Yeah I looked High and low for the right ones back then. There are quite a few aftermarket options nowadays. Super happy with how they turnout out though!
one of the towing mirrors on my 2003 f250 is broken so I got a pair of used mirrors from a 2004. mine are power mirrors but the new ones also have running lights and i think maybe mirror heat. i don't need mirror heat but i would like to connect the lights if possible.
I personally think the 17+ mirrors flow better with the lines on the early Super Duty trucks. The 08-16 mirrors look good, don't get me wrong, but these look better in my mind. Also, are you sure the turn signals are white on yours? I know on my Dad's 17, they have clear lenses with amber led's in behind.
I agree. The 08-16 blocky ones don’t seem to be quite right to me. I don’t have my turn signals hooked up but they do have amber line markers and white as well. I’m running my Amber’s as running lights
I think you could either replace the bulbs in the mirrors to amber bulbs or place an amber colored cover behind the existing plastic mirror signal covers. I'm just making a guess for options for you to have amber mirror turn signals. Enjoyed the video. 👍🏽🙂
So where do you find these "conversion" mirrors that fit, now that I'm 200 bucks deep in this with a set that wont fit? And i dont need the wiring and stuff. I want to keep full manual adjustment with no lights or heat....
I have not found any 17+ style mirrors for our trucks that are manual. Unfortunately it also appears that the mirrors I used are no longer sold. There do seem to be a few other manufacturers this style though though.
I’m currently doing excactly what you did here. When wiring the mirror controls did you find that the mirror could only go up and left and the remaining wires couldn’t be powered? I have all the lights and left/up working but I can’t find how to get down/right to work
I don’t remember exactly but I think it was a combination of weird wiring to get them to move properly. It took a lot of bench testing trial and error to find the right ground and powers. I did get all 4 directions working though.
Just did the same upgrade on my 2000 X. Do you notice two different angles of the mirrors between driver side and passengers side. Passengers is angled in a little more than drivers side. Wondering if you noticed that on your.
Funny you ask because I just watched a different video on this. All trucks mirrors are actually at different angles. Because of the drivers sitting closer to one side. If you go and measure any trucks mirrors they will sit at different angles.
@@LivingOnWheels Thanks for replying , There wasn't much out there with people commenting on the difference in mirror angles after upgrading.Thought maybe I had a poorly designed pair. Thanks again, I enjoy your videos.
Unfortunately I don't think they are sold on amazon anymore, but I do think you could get the ones from Boost Auto Parts for the 03-07 and change the wiring to make them work. I would almost guaranty the Boost mirrors would be higher quality too. boostautoparts.com/products/2003-2007-superduty-tow-mirrors

I appreciate it. Our trucks mirrors did not come with lighted or heater mirrors. So you would have to wire those in yourself if you wanted them. The power options would should be plug and play.
I do not. I thought about that but everywhere I looked was different depending on what mirrors they bought. I don’t have a factory harness either and so I just color coded my wires to the mirrors I got.
