Great informative video content! It’s always the little stuff that can make us happy, Lol!
I hooked up my white running lights to come on with my puddle lights. Tied into the door courtesy lights.
Amazon has a rear window defogger with timer and an on\off switch. Works great for mirror heaters. Used a fuse tap and 5 amp fuse. Mounted switch on top of door panel where stock ones mount
I like the puddle light idea. Do you remember which wire you tied into? Inside the door or inside the cab?
Your Awesome Man! Love this info, as a long haul trucker, I don't like the lack of rear view sight in these stock mirrors on my 2003 F550
Yeah the stock mirrors on these things were not great. Both the 08-16 style and this style are a huge upgrade in visibility.
Thank You ! Good Work There What Year Is The F450 ?
That might give it away haha
Do you have a video of you doing the harness for power windows
Truck came with the power windows. I do have a video on the power mirrors. Must say though it’s not my best video. I definitely wish I would’ve gone into more detail on it.
The heated mirrors you used, are they self regulating ? Or do you need to turn off the switch before they discolor ? Ty
Not that I am aware of, but they dont get hot by any means. Just warm
I have to do the same, mines non power but I can fix that.
Yep. The wiring really isn't too complicated, just takes a little time to figure out.
@@LivingOnWheels mines the early 99, Montana truck, pretty rust free for Minnesota. Need to fix rear pinion also, drives but it stops 20 feet behind ya with the bearing going out. It's a keeper though.
My 01 doesn't have power mirrors I can't seem to find 08 mirrors without the lights. I need a new set but want them just plan I don't want to mess with all the wiring.
I don't think you're gonna be able to find any 08+ style without the lights. If you dont want to deal with the wiring then id just let the plug hang in the door.
@@LivingOnWheels Good point sir thanks and keep up the great work.
Put some masking tape over the mirror and leave it there for some 5 minutes and you will be able to read the temperature by using your temp gun
I thought about it. Ended up just going by feel if the hand. They are definitely working
Part # and manufacturer of the mirrors?
Thank you
Got a Link to the ones I used in the videos description
Don't the heated mirrors have to be on a timer so they shut off and not burn out?
I suppose if you left them for very long periods of time they might burn out early. I don’t know if the newer rigs had timers on them or not. This is just how I chose to do it without over complicating things. Turn them on when I needed them and off after a little bit when they did their job.
What did you use for a switch that operates the heated mirrors
I just did a simple switch and relay setup. I wanted it to have its own standalone power source.
Can you help me figure this out. I replaced the 2 door actuators on the truck and they still do not work….i can hear it try to move but still doesnt work…..is there a special spot to place the actuator? Idk, im lost@@LivingOnWheels
@@chrisallen3741 I’m not sure. Maybe the mechanism itself is seized up. Hard to say without being able to look at it but I’d go through all the linkages and make sure things are moving as they should.
Ok, I’ll look over it again….i was just thinking maybe i could have installed the actuator in the wrong place. Thank you so much@@LivingOnWheels
Do you have an Instagram for the truck/TH-cam?
I do @living_on_wheels_official
Dude, you spent WAY to much time justifying using that switch. Your truck your choice :). Not what I'd do, but that shouldn't affect you lol. Secondly, great video, thanks!
I appreciate it. I wasn't really trying to justify using it more just explaining why I chose too. Out of curiosity though, how would you have done it? Thanks for watching
