    I love that you used the music from Kubrick's 'Barry Lyndon' - a nod to classic film-making..:D (subscribed...not just for that reason though..;) )

    Hi. Terra 4k is a very interesting camera. Can you do a test on high ISO, a test of a rolling shutter and high-speed shooting? And maybe you can share the source? Thank you.

      Great suggestions, I'll do my best to do at least one of these tests before the new year.

    Great video & explanations. Love the idea of electronic ND filters. Would like to see IBIS of the sensor (I know not everyone needs this, but some solo shooters would welcome it). Can the LCD panel be viewed outside in strong daylight? I would like to know how it performs in low-light! Would like Kinefinity to develop their own EVF for ‘run-n-gun’ shooters, as other manufacturers‘ versions tend to be very expensive (e.g. $\€2K+). Thanks for posting.

    Have you tried to use crop sensor lenses like the Tokina 11-16 f2.8 or the Sigma 18-35 f1.8 with the KineEnhancer? Would love to know if it works without vignetting!

    • @voradorlinux
      @voradorlinux 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Terra sensor is 10.3x19.5 mm in DCI4K and 10.3x18.3 mm in UHD. With the KineEnhancer the sensor will behave as 14.30x27.04 mm in DCI4K and as 14.30x25.40 mm in UHD while gaining approximately 0.93 stops. Hope that helps giving you an idea about which non-Full Frame lens might be compatible with KineEnhancer.

    is the kineback necessary for filming or can i use it without it? can you use v-tap without it?

    • @cineready6217
      @cineready6217  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kineback is not necessary for filming, the camera can operate with only the sidegrip. If you power it via it's DC input it can used without sigegrip.

    Can the monitor be mounted to the side of the camera or any other way other than on top of the camera like that? Also are the mount adapters active and how accessible are the more common run & gun settings like white balance, shutter, iris?

    • @cineready6217
      @cineready6217  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      sure there are many ways to mount the monitor to the side of the camera, so you can use it in a standard shoulder rig setup. The mount adapters are active, only for iris control though. Run 'n gunning is totally possible with Terra. The three settings you mention are all available via the multi functional joystick/wheel and can be changed within seconds.

    Other than a Kine Mag, what other SSD's have you used? Looks like a Samsung EVO on this video, correct????

    • @cineready6217
      @cineready6217  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, Samsung EVO generally work fine.

    How's the E-Mount adapter with the Sony 24-70 f/4? Can you change the aperture via camera?

    • @cineready6217
      @cineready6217  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, with the final version of the E-mount you can change the aperture via the camera, if the lens is supported. The one you see in the video is just a prototype without the electronics.

    Hi! Does the monitor have all the essential features like peaking, false colour, waveforms, etc.? And regarding the mounts, they also do a Nikon mount (including SpeedBooster and built in ND)

    • @cineready6217
      @cineready6217  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The monitor does have peaking and falser colour. Waveforms are built-in to the camera's video output. Nikon mount exists with KineEnhancer (Speedbooster) and standard.

    How are you using the Sony lens @ 2:45 when it is a focus by wire lens and there are no pin connections?

    • @cineready6217
      @cineready6217  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's just for demonstration. The E-mount adapter in this video is a prototype. It can only be used with manual lenses.

  • @BfoSHIZnats

    The only thing I don't like about their cameras is that you have to transcode the raw in order to edit it. At least the files are small for raw though.

    • @cineready6217
      @cineready6217  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, that's a little annoying at the moment, BUT: A) the transcoding can be done at the same time as the footage is copied to your workstation, it takes just a little longer, but no extra step. And B) Imho it's just a matter of time before the big names in the editing and grading software world will implement KRW into their software.

    How's the lag on the SDI outputs? Is there also lag on the kinemon? Can you post a video showing this? tnx

    • @voradorlinux
      @voradorlinux 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      KineMonitor has a 320 to 340 milliseconds lag. Kinefinity claims 100 to 200 ms but I haven't had that luck with my camera in the 2 weeks I have tested it. I'll be honest, if it was 100 ms I wouldn't be complaining at all as I think =

    Is there a bottom cover for the battery in the grip?

    • @voradorlinux
      @voradorlinux 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No bottom door, but honestly it is not needed. The sliding lock mechanism is pretty safe and sturdy to keep the battery in place. I have to admit the KineGrip is well designed and well made. Just hope the rubber skin stays in place after years of use 😉👍🏻

  • @layoutsbreakdowns
    @layoutsbreakdowns 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    HI! thank you for the video! I was wondering if you could tell me how the Sony-E mount works? Like can you focus the lenses?

    • @cineready6217
      @cineready6217  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the one you see in the video is just a prototype, in the close up shots (7:08) you can see that there are cutouts for the electronic connectors that will connect the lens to the camera. Like this the Iris of the lens can be controlled through the camera, same as with the current active EF and PL mounts. I'm not sure if it will support auto focus or image stabilisation.

    • @layoutsbreakdowns

      Awesome, thank you so much for taking time to respond and putting up videos. I have the 6k Terra and rarely see info on the parts/ options that are clear as your work.

    This is a great camera! Great specs, great possibilities.
    But sorry i have to say: It´s looking like they wanted to make a RED camera and sell it for 5 dollars.

  • @kernelpanic2887

    The sensor is tiny, to small for me for a cinema like camera. It kills the bokeh. And it looks a bit cheap the hole camera.

  • @199hamill
    @199hamill 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does it have a 3.5mm input on the body?

    • @voradorlinux
      @voradorlinux 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Assuming you refer to audio 3.5mm input, if so then yes... Haven't tested the quality of sound though... Needless to say every cam I have owned had poor in-camera audio... That's what the KineBack is for, or, a separate audio unit.

  • @reddepo
    @reddepo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Interesting, but for the price you pay for a stocked-up Terra, you can now pick up a used Red Epic Dragon with pretty much all the accessories on eBay.

    • @jamesmathews243
      @jamesmathews243 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not accurate. Red Epics are going for 15K kitted out. 4K Terra kitted out is 7K. Not a bad price for the Epic, but if you're a small company and you have 15K, I'd rather have 2 cameras for that price. Of course we gotta wait and see how these thing hold up lol

    • @jamesmathews243
      @jamesmathews243 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As for eBay, I guess you have to catch a good deal, but that's why we ebay. Their current packages are 15K. As for the Terra, the Pro Package is currently $6,999 on their website. But, yea I would definitely buy that Epic package over the Terra for 7K.

    • @reddepo
      @reddepo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a great b camera, but I am just not a fan of that creme/pastel color space and rolling shutter -- also haven't really seen any impressive anamorphic videos from it yet.
