    This video has been pretty insightful for me. Thanks!
    I was recently presented with a potential documentary shoot to bid. I own a BMPCC-4K, but the 12K Pro and the full frame 6K Pro are on my radar as potentials to purchase or rent since the project is bigger than run-n-gun style. As I read through a lengthy scope of work outlining what was needed and wanted (remember... these two should be mutually exclusive if the client is flexible), I first noticed the 4444HQ codec output request. And I'm thinking, it only makes sense to provide that in the masters if you captured the majority or all the footage natively at that codec. That really narrows the field on cameras that can do this! Sure enough, after reading a bit further, there was a blatant hint for Arri, and even a suggestion for a high-end drone for aerial shots.
    I definitely would hate to be in the situation you described as showing up with Blackmagic gear, but the client prefers Sony Venice!
    So, one important takeaway after viewing this and a few other videos on the 12K? The industry is more comfortable with the other existing (and proven) cinema cameras. But this 12K camera is really good for the price, and it can hold its own.

    I totally agree with you when it comes to TH-camrs. Show me what the gear can do…don’t just tell me. Your work looks fantastic by the way. Great stuff bro!

    20:45 - Regarding chroma noise, this is where the 12K resolution comes in handy, The pixels are so small that noise is not perceivable between ISO 100 to 1250. If you are in 8K or 4K, then at ISO 800 and above, you need to ensure your greys are at IRE 40 or above or you will see chroma noise.

    You hit on a great point I love about Blackmagic! I could get 3 pocket 4k cameras for a multishoot at the cost of a single camera from other brands. The price to value is crazy!
    Also @blackmagic I will happily push the Blackmagic name, please send me the Ursa 12k. Thank you, happy to click and collect.

    A 12k olpf full frame camera would take the industry by storm! It's already a brilliant camera but full frame would take the cake!

    Honestly I shot with the old URSA and pocket a lot and I just loved shooting with the URSA in particular. The Image was always great. It being big can be tricky but the results are just undeniable.

    Great review. I’m considering adding this to my arsenal. I have a pocket 4k and VRaptor. I’m newly subscribed.

    I appreciate your balance of subjectivity, objectivity, and critical thinking regard this review and upgrading thoughts.
    My desires for the U12KP is form factor and I/O layout. For my doc work, I dislike how crowded the I/O area gets on my 6K Pro.

      Some of your thoughts are reflected in the Ursa Cine, for which they're trying to deliver a high-quality camera that competes with those frequently used on sets.

    Love the video - nice work - just felt like objecting a little - don't understand why battery life is is the SO SO category since it's dependant on the battery you own - I get 5-6 hours out of my Intellytech vmount 280's on the 12K and I'd say that's great - and that's powering a focus motor and a monitor at the same time.
    As for the mount - there's a reason all the top cameras still use the mounts they do - this is why Arri still uses PL mount, and further updating to LPL mount - which is similar to the flange distance of the EF mount - it does affect field of view of the lenses a bit - " the mood " - it would be great to have a short flange distance sure, this way you can adapt whatever you want - honestly the amount of PL-EF lenses on the market outnumber any other mounts out there - so it's not really something to be turned off about - the issue I think most people have is they invested in to Sony and other manufactures clever marketing schemes and can't just keep the glass they invested in - so the complaints start to rush in about the mount. The further you get into your filmmaking career you are most likely going to be going after PL mount anyways - do yourselves a massive favor, stop worrying about the short flange mounts and start investing into PL or LPL lenses now. It's worth it. Old EF mount glass is amazing by the way, and they can all be converted to PL easily :)

    Your work looks stunning! Hope to get the new FF 6K and a pair of budget cine primes. Would be my first camera.
    Would love to get my footage looking like yours. I'm an aspiring film maker. Don't plan on doing high end shoots but would love to get my solo-shooter passion projects looking half as good. How do I go about improving my cinematography and colour grades? Would you have any tips mate? Cheers.

      Thank you! The new 6K will be a seriously good choice, hope you enjoy it, can’t wait to try one.
      Most of the time I work with natural light, so just being aware of where to put your subject and what time to shoot is key. In terms of grading I’ve recently started using DaVinci way more but would definitely recommend Cullen Kelly’s tutorials. Just experiment, practice and have fun with it really!

      @@CamVFilm Would love to see what you create when you get your hands on one as well.
      Great tips. I plan to shoot mostly in natural light too, budget friendly as we know. I follow Cullen Kelly's channel too but find it hard to get the image looking 'filmic', going overboard with saturation a lot of the time. Have to keep at it, like you said.
      Cheers. Thanks again and wish you well!

    • @CamVFilm
      @CamVFilm  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you! I really appreciate that! I was wondering about where the P4K fits in now, I probably will replace it with the 6K Pro for the higher frame rate options and use the full frame 6K as my A cam unless the project requires the URSA. I'd still definitely recommend the P4K to people looking for a solid budget option though.

      I've had the 6K Pro and 4K - I honestly like the 4K more - granted the lack of internal NDs and flip screen, the 4k's image has something way more special about it + the lens adaptations and selections felt extremely limiting with the 6k; granted the full frame one is out now. For ex, the Laowa 7.5 on the 4k is probably the closest look you could get to a Arri ultra prime for a wide. Idk could just be me. The fact the 4k still is compared constantly to the FX3 should say enough & its 5/ 6 years old.

    • @CamVFilm

      I would probably suggest the 6K instead for stock shooting, unless you specifically want high frame rates in which case go for the URSA

    I like blackmagic because of resolve but the color are terrible. If the image is greenish yellow it is a blackmagic camera. Everyone filmed with a bm camera is yellow. Very unnatural strange ugly colors. Caucasians are pinkish magenta not yellow.

    • @CamVFilm
      @CamVFilm  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’d really suggest giving one a go for yourself if you can but totally understand if their colour science isn’t your thing.
