pc: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
sounds like a chainsaw
@@n1ck_real or a lawnmower
I thought that the laptop had 2009 Horsepower
Could've fooled me haha
That is why I even clicked on this video 😂😂
Him: *Presses a button*
Pc: *Engine starts*
it sounded like a lawn mower
It probably could work as one too lol
2010s design somehow looks better imo
They really do!
i hate the minimalism of modern laptops. my toshiba qosmio is literally the polar opposite of it
I use a computer from 2008 with windows 11 daily and I have literally no issues. The secret is to get an SSD and upgrade the CPU. People drastically underestimate the capability of older computers.
What CPU do you have, I have a core 2 duo and want to try this.
@@efeloteishe4675 core2duo E8400. I recommend one of the later Core2Duos.
@@efeloteishe4675 I also recommend upgrading your ram to at least 4GB 8GB preferably but 4GB will run Windows 11 decently though.
@@efeloteishe4675what laptop model is it
I honestly didn't know upgrading the cpu was possible in that era of laptops. I always say minimum 8GB RAM and an SSD will boost up any older computer enough to be decently usable. But a CPU upgrade would be an even bigger punch.
You broke the secondary WiFi antenna cable, it will still work, but you will have a bit worse WiFi reception.
The display turning black for a second is a display initialisation procedure, it was probably Ram training because you reset the bios by taking out the small coin cell battery witch is why it didn't start at first.
Shove an ssd in it and then put w10/11 on it, it will actually be kinda usabale, i used older computers, but I prefer w10 on theese old bricks.
Thankfully the cable wasn't a major component, I hope to make this laptop a project of mine where I'll continue adding on to it and fixing it further.
it is actually really easy to take HP laptops apart when you know what you are doing.
.
.
Try taking apart a thinkpad.
You're right I don't know what I'm doing!
I hate taking apart HP laptops, because you have to take everything on the bottom cover, the keyboard and a cover under the keyboard out.
@@ryankery5052 It really isnt a nig deal compared to some of the others
To be clear old thinkpads from the xp days were shit to take apart, my modern thinkpad l13 yoga gen 2, it's a robust laptop with easy to dissasemble
@@mr.technologysilva8856
Old hard to take apart thinkpads were the quality bricks, the new thinkpads are everything but quality and sturdy.
I remember taking apart my mother's 2007 HP to upgrade it's specs & upgrade it to Windows 11. It has hard but worth it! She got so mad at the technician after I showed her Windows 11 on it, because he told her it won't be able to be updated to windows 11!
She shouldn't be mad at the technician, because it's literally not supposed to be able to run windows 11.
I bet it runs like shit too. Beter to instal debian 12.
You can * technically * install modern versions of windows on most older computers, but there's a reason technicians don't recommend it, it will be incredibly slow unless you already are upgrading the computer's hardware and de-bloating the OS. But most average people are never going to do that, they just buy a new laptop.
I was working with the same laptop recently, it's built so you push everything on the front, from the back. And the back cover pops off once you get keyboard out. No need for taking off the screen and dissasembling the top half of the laptop. The sound you we're hearing was something hitting the fan blades. Very good video tho keep it up!
Haha yeah, maybe I should’ve had a guide with me before hand 😅
@@GregBaloney I have the compaq version of that laptop
cq60?
@@tallreversdi got the compaq cq60-215dx, both of the hinges broke off, but it works, windows 11 ran alright, but i always use windows 10 on it.
@@tallreversd i personally owned a cq62 209-wm
bro you have a good future in this work keep going
Thank you so much! The more practice the better I'll get!
The lawnmower sound was epic.
Broke a cable? No problem. As long as it works 😂
As someone who did laptop repairs for the last few years, in can be VERY frustrating.
Especially the ones that put the RAM on the other side of thr motherboard.
man you deleting the recovery partition of the windows 7 hp oem thing just hurts my soul. Except for that W vid keep it up!
Him: *turns it on*
The laptop: Lawnmower mode!
it is either crying for help, or is powered by a lawnmower
i cant believe that ur making soo good content and seeing you with not even 1k subscribers that means everyone does like but dont worry i am a supporter of you ❤ you
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the support!
its just a shame to see that humanity is getting worse and it goes to show that people dont respect people who do hard work the fact u r brave and not shy in the camera in itself such a big thing
of urself is just a facination hope you will be succesfull
Thank you again! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
I installed Win11 also on an ancient HP Compaq 6820S from like 2007 and it was running actually not bad, if it had an SSD I would absolutely call it usable
Nice video mate, good editing, keep it up
Thank you so much! Thank you for watching
one thing to avoid in the future: using a hp laptop, or any hp computer in general
As interesting as seeing windows 11 on old tech, no windows OS will ever be better than windows 7. I'm still going to use it on all of my machines that support it until its unusable - but considering server 2008 R2 is still receiving patches, I don't think it will be a problem.
Surprisingly enough I'm using the same exact same HP G60 laptop to write this comment. I went and put a SSD, max the RAM out to 4GB and installed Windows 7 Super Lite on it alongside Nightmayor's modded Intel 4500 GPU drivers (meant for Windows 10 and 11). With proper tweaking I was able to watch this video at 720p 30 fps max using the h264ify extension/addon with Supermium and MyPal browsers. I haven't tried gaming on it yet but I'm guessing 2D games would run fine on it, as well as light 3D games. But as said on Nightmayor's tenforums post there's a bug with his driver regarding about OpenGL error. Intel disabled something with the drivers and he cannot re enable it, so there's a bug with photo and video editing program. Which in this case Photoshop CS6, if you use the GPU Acceleration alongside the pen and custom shape tool the whole canvas goes gray and it makes it unusable unless you deselect GPU Acceleration. On the other hand Blender 2.79b runs great tho, rendering using the "Blender Render" made it render a bit faster. There's also Royal BNA and PHDGD GPU drivers which are older but I haven't tried them yet. A lighter Linux distro would probably make it more faster. Lastly great video showing this chunky laptop, I love how you edited this and shared your insights on it.
wait holy shit i still have this laptop
I thought it said 'i put windows 11 on a 2009 horspower laptop'
Him: Turns it on
Pc: You revived me finally after idk how much years
back in the day i used to install osx86 leopard on it those laptops where awsome
I also had an hp laptop in 2009 given by my grandpa.
Also windows 11 just froze on startup on my 2021 laptop...
My 2012 dell e6530 is rocking a windows 10 installation! Smooth as butter with an ssd (even on 8gb ram) minus a VERY loud fan
interesting video, i remember taking apart a hp a year ago and i just forgot how to reassamble it and.. let's say it's sitting in my closet waiting to be put back together 😆
You should give it another shot! It's a fun little project to do
You goddamn guy. Windows 7 has a place in my heart.
This video is underrated af, but hey the laptop sound like a car 😅
Put modern software on simple hardware.
Greg Baloney: What could possibly go wrong?
The fan have bad or unoiled bearings, or a cracked/missing blade.
I have a dell latitude 7490, and I repaired it at least 51 times (not joking). It is actually pretty easy to open. All I have to do is unscrew 8 screws and lift the bottom cover off.
I'm pretty sure this laptop could be disassembled in a simpler way but I'm an idiot haha. 51 times is insane!
Old boys are easier to repair save the particulars that are like specific
i think you have a broken fan
also yea the thermal paste is another thing you should change. and dont use windows 11 please (well without destroying it by using the chris titus tool, open shell, retrobar, explorerpatcher etc until its virtually unrecognisable and breaks as soon as you use windows update)
tldr linux is a smarter option
These are all very helpful tips! Windows was honestly just for fun haha
I put windows 11 on an old Dell T5400. It smashed it.
What about Windows 11 IOT LTSC Enterprise in this laptop ?
bro that fan needs a replacing for real
I might make this project a long-going one where I continue adding to it to improve it. Thank you for watching!
What's this computer?
Raising hell itself
I'm surprised at how difficult it was for you because I also have a HP laptop from 2010 that run Windows 7 on it I got it from my granddad it was my nan's laptop the reason why I got it from my granddad is because my nan sadly passed away back in 2020 and the moment I got it the hard drive immediately started dying on it before I had the chance to back everything up on it website where I could gather some back on it I replaced it with a similar hard drive that also died the battery was also fucked on it replaced the battery and instead of guessing another similar hard drive I just swapped out with a 500 gigabyte SSD flashed windows 11 on it using WinToUsb got that up and running and I split the partition in half and I also installed Windows 7 on it so now I have Windows 7 and windows 11 on it just so that way its stays original and have new software on it at the same time
it'll work perfect with ssd+windows 10 or 8.1
i think u may need to change to thermal paste lol
I think you may be right haha!
Whenever I open a laptop, I look for a guide or manual to do that. Mostly those can be found. Ans sometimes a TH-camr already made a video about is. And that all together saved me a lot of time! But that laptop you have there was ... well... dusty.... 🤭
Another thing: you installed Windows 11 on it. Try Tiny 11, that is Windows 11, without all the crap that comes with Windows. And I presume you used Rufus to pass the TPM 2.0 and processor check?
watching this on a 2008 hp on windows 10, they don't make them like they used to :/
No joke I used to run one of these back in 2013, my grandma gave it to me haha, ram Windows Vista on it for a while, and then I put Linux on it and used it like that till 2017 when it died randomly
I had the almost same laptop thats dead now
Gpu is cooked
I still use my Asus K42f from 2011 I think? yesterday I had to repaste it and it worked fine with windows 10 though... My only issue with it is that I can't connect it to wifi or else the fans turns into plane mode lol I'm only keeping it because it's unique in someways and it has a DvD drive so whenever I wanna use my old DvD I just have to connect it to the Tv using HDMI
@GregBaloney did you repaste the heatsink?
I actually own a HP laptop that is old (EliteBook 6930p)
this was a fun video :)
Glad you enjoyed!
Is that the fan thats crying out for help
Yes it is
You can turn the laptop into a DIY home server for jellyfin or plex. It would work.
Definitely an option I've been thinking of!
I HAVE THE SAME LAPTOP (my grandma gave me it) I STILL NEED A CHARGER FOR IT
I thought it when it ran windows 11 its going to be like. Fans:*Runs on max* him:OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
your lucky you got to wor with out going in the bios since ti wont let you imstall it with out sercure boot enabled. the cpu and tpm you can bypass but i have a laptop i want put on but there no secure boot
I have an HP laptop from 2020 and to be honest it's not too different
Tbh all you had to do was make rufus iso but your way works
I have a second drive with Rufus, but I couldn't find it. Had to make a new one
I think you shoud install tiny11 on it, its windows 11 but with less bloatware and better performance
That’s a really good idea thank you for letting me know!
I installed windows server 2022 on dell studio 1555 😅😅😅😅 still work like charm tho
Maybe you could of upgraded the CPU to the amd turion and the GPU to the nvidia gforce 8200m I have the hp g60 with that CPU and GPU and it works great with windows 10
I could’ve done that yes! I enjoy the excitement of not knowing what to change or what to expect, but you’re right!
@@GregBaloneyI used to have this model years ago and I gave it to a friend and now I have another model of it, the one with the silver keyboard
Nice vid!
Thank you for watching!
I opened it a different way on Lenovo computer unfortunately the same issue you didn't even realize that you just broke one of the Wi-Fi antennas I'm sorry that I have to break it to you but this also happened to me I wanted to display off because it was broken DON'T DO IT IT'S NOT WORTH IT
Nice video
Thank you for watching!
Does a painstaking disassembly and reassembly of a laptop only to clean a half broken cooling fan. Oh, and also installs Windows 11 on that 15 year old machine, but only allocates 3 minutes of the video to that. Weird!
Haha, honestly wanted to see if I could even do any of that
I have old 2006 hp laptop even with ssd installed it run very slow💀
try windoes 10 on it
Do you hp computer old on install Windows 11?
i installed windows 11 on a 2006 laptop
this was in summer 2022, it was a dell Inspiron 1501 and the result... laggy af
Those fans should get fixed. But good vid. 👍
I have same one but stock was vista but i enyered windows 10
why are you whereing gloves
Cause it was extremely dirty with years of gunk on it
Can I install Windows 11 on my MacBook Air that way I have a product key but it’s for Windows 10
I believe there is a way to have both OS’s on one system. However, I strongly advise you keep Apple and don’t change it please 😂
@@GregBaloney I mean using the Windows 10 key to upgrade to Windows 11
try win 11 lite .
I have that same laptop
why didn't you remove the dvd drive?
Honestly I wanted to keep the original parts the same
@@GregBaloney while you were working on it. one screw, and you would have had a way easier time...
These cables are for the WIFI. in other words. you cant use wifi no more
I'm surprised the browser worked then!
@@GregBaloney it worked but only bc the antennas were taken off, the wifi card still remained tho
Nothing will happens just signal strength will not like vefore in other words slow and 2.4ghz wifi only 😊
I had that exact laptop lmao
I wonder if u can clean my Dell XPS M1530 😂
yea, put arch on it, no windows on such old stuff man, no good for hardware
Mines was windows 7
Skills issues 😂
12:06 air conditioner noise🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
replace thermal paste please
do not ever install windows 11 on an old laptop. ever. or even not install windows 11 on any laptop, as it is horrible.
I will end up changing the thermal paste soon. As for the Windows, idk what to tell you lol
Wanna have more fun? Try Linux 😊
Or, keep it to the original OS, and install Linux on your main PC to have more fun.
