  • Follow along as I take you through a 15 minute dryland workout. Whether you're looking to improve your speed skating, recreational skating, hockey skating, street skating, or figure skating, these movements can help strengthen all the required muscles to be a better skater. Do you have the minerals to go through it twice?
The patch on my arm is a blood glucose monitor from Supersapiens. I was doing some testing on how food affects my blood sugar during training when this workout was shot.

When I was a kid, there were 3 ways to learn how to exercise for a sport:
    1. Read books
    2. Talk to your coach
    3. Identify the muscle groups and get creative
If you told me then that an Olympian would teach me how to train with 24/7 access, 🤯

...I'm pretty sure I'm not getting low enough but hopefully, I'll eventually get there. Also, I'm struggling with keeping to the rhythm of the movements. This confirms, as I've always suspected, that I do not have a rhythmic bone in my body. I guess I'll have to get there with rote repetition . Thanks for the awesome workout!

Firstly, I would like to thank Joey for such a prompt response to my questions concerning his dynamic workout! But for the rest of those reading these comments and would like to start somewhere, here are my suggestions. These are things that I want to try as I progress. First learn only two or three movements. There are actually 12 separated movements repeated two or more times. Focus on learning the movements slowly and in balance. If you need a chair or counter to master this, USE THEM! As Joey reminded me, use only the degree of forward bend from the waist as you can tolerate. I am sure mine will improve ONLY WHEN MY QUADRICEPS STRENGTH ALLOWS IT!! Master those first two or three before you move on to any others. Joey, please comment on these suggestions as needed! Oh, for those reading these and other comments concerning Joey's build: Strength does not always imply muscle hypertrophy!! The strength is the most important quality that my OLD MUSCLES lack!! Good Luck to all that try this challenging routine. I know it will improve MY skating!

Went through this dryland workout with the video; watched it once thru, then did the whole thing. Was astonished by how much of a good workout it was. Haven't yet let us down again! Thanks, Joey.
P.S. Do you have any recommendations of adding weights to this, i.e. ankle, body vest, wrists, etc...

This is great! I am not a skater, but I've been using these exercises as strength training. I noticed they've improved my road cycling a lot. My strength recovery and lactate clearing have never been better which helps with interval training and VO2max.
I love horse stance and bow stance esp. with kettlebell. What do you think about those tai-chi exercises for skating?
Do you also do a dryland version with weights?
Is your hip/glute engagement different during skating than during dead-lifting?

    Thanks. Great set
Instead of making it harder by running this more than once, would you recommend extending set times to say 30/30/30 40/40/40 etc?

Hi Joey! I'm the OLD guy who first asked the questions about your workout. I started with the first five movements. Balance control is the key and has been the hardest to learn, but I'm trying! This question is about breathing. What is the timing of inhaling and exhaling with the movements? I think is this is not coordinated properly, it will make the balance and deliberate motions very difficult. PLEASE ADVISE!! Thanks!

I am OLD! While I am a casual skater (two or three times a week). I really like the type of movements in this video, but is there a good way to begin a routine like this at a more "beginner's pace"! (same number of reps with more rest time or a more gradual "descent" into the isometric positions). Any advice would be greatly appreciated! (At your rate somebody else would be calling the EMTs for me!!)

    • @JoeyMantiaOfficial
      @JoeyMantiaOfficial  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Just take your time, skip every other movement until you build some tolerance. Also, do them with a LOT less knee bend when you start

I’m 65. I miss skating ❤ Unfortunately an inoperable torn meniscus behind my left knee & osteoporosis keeps me from doing what I love. I did extreme hill long distance. Moving to Florida 🌴🐬is a consolation.

Равновесие держит хорошо, согнутый коленный сустав под нагрузкой медиально не заваливается. Но классным конькобежцем не выглядит. Ни в одном упражнении нет толчка носком стопы в конце полного распрямления ноги.
