  • We test the fuel economy of the Nissan Micra. The Micra's closest competitors in the North American market are:
    - Ford Fiesta
    - KIA Rio
    - Hyundai Accent
    - Toyota Yaris
    - Chevrolet Spark
    - Honda Fit

great break down good work thank you. Could you do one on the nissan frontier?

As A Frontier owner, I say just double it. My range is the exact same, but with a tank twice the size.

I regular get between 4.2 and 4.4L/100km in my new Honda Insight touring model which is around 65 to 70 miles per Imperial gallon in the city. I get about 60 mpg on the highway. I'm always in the Econ mode since I bought it for great mileage and NOT speed.

Hi thanks for video , i want to know if you know is it worth paying for 95 or 98 fuel . Does it help in getting better mileage in driving .

Hi Shon, I actually am not sure about the difference as we just usuall fill in the base fuel that is required by the vehicle. Perhaps one of our viewers else can help answer this?

Premium fuel is required for certain cars (I.e. turbo); “flex-fuel” capable engines can sense the octane &/or ethanol rating up to E85 (only 15% gas). So a normal engine can only accept regular gas, a modern flex-fuel engine can accept whatever grade of gas you pick.
My ‘14 F-150 can accept any up to E85, but regular gas is all it needs. Premium will allow you to run the engine harder without the carbon buildup found in the use of regular gas (I.e. catalytic convertor and exhaust valves).

I’m at 1500km. Had the car not even 30 days and I am averaging 400km per full tank. Very upset and contacted the dealership this morning to have it checked out. I have not used A/C much as it has been on the cold side in Montreal. I am slow and careful. Huge disappointment and not at all what Nissan promised in terms of fuel economy! My Husband’s 2017 jetta does much better! Can I ask if you know of any provincial laws to return a leased car due to dissatisfaction?

Dealership seems to be stalling the process and I’m wondering if it has something to do with a 30 day return policy??

I bought my near new 2019 Micra with 4000 K's a month ago. I am averaging about 400 km a tankful as well. This has been combined city and highway and freeway driving, and where I live has a lot of hills. I have been averaging about 33 to 35 miles per gallon, which is actually a little better than what the Nissan brochure indicates. If you are leaving your heating control in defrost mode....you are still using the air conditioner, which comes on of course automatically....when using the defrost position, the first thing I do is turn off the air conditioner, and I have noticed this has made an improvement in the fuel economy. You would of course get better fuel economy in a small car equipped with a CVT transmission, but Nissan CVT transmissions are notoriously crappy. I hope your fuel economy has improved with time....but for a 1.6 L engine with an automatic transmission.....I feel 35 mpg is reasonable....Im just waiting for spring, and see what it does on the highway with no a/c on and perhaps a good tail wind at my back.

So whats the verdict? Is it any good for fuel mileage?

That's actually pretty terrible mileage, especially considering it's a manual.

Please specify standard or imperial when you refer to “gallon”

Hate to tell you KennyBoy217 but in the text it says "North American" and not "US". Canada is in North America and we are in Imperial gallons and at the start of the video he displays 6.9L per 100km which sure sounds like he's talking about Canadian gas mileage as we're metric.

It amazes me that this car has worse fuel economy than both the sentra and the versa. The versa has the same engine and is heavier. I just dont get it. Anyone know whats up?

    • @erm668
      @erm668 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Micra has a 4 speed automatic transmission, which is far more reliable than Versa's CVT, but with a bit worse fuel economy. Plus, Micra's consumption increases sharply if you drive it faster than 90 km/h
