Perks, Quirks & Irks - 2019 Nissan Micra S - I'd buy one!

  • There's a saying "Nobody moves and nobody gets hurt."
That's what I think of with the Micra S as there's so few electronic parts (relatively speaking, of course.)
A throwback to simpler times is what Nissan's smallest option offers.
No longer Canada's most affordable car, the Nissan Micra S for 2019 is a bare bones, no-frills, utilitarian vehicle that does a terrific job of moving you from A to B.

I’m wondering how safe is for snow . Did anyone get stuck or how is it driving in the highway . I’m trying to buy one to revel back forth from Windsor to Detroit everyday commute

Great question. With a high quality set of winter tires and smart driving habits, you should be good.

In Mexico and other Latin countries and some Asian countries it’s called the March.

I bought the Micra 2015 SR model fully loaded and my wife and I are extremely happy with this very reliable car. We travel long distances on the highway and it is amazing how well it handles and really cheap on gas. One of the best Nissan small cars ever built, is the Micra.

2019 model? That's the last model in Europe market in 2016. Because 2017 saw the new micra design in Europe. Which cursed country ars you in?

A buddy of mine got a 2015, and his second gear went, $2200 bucks later lol but other than that with oil changes, tires and other basic maintenance, the car has been great! He also popped in an aftermarket JVC deck

      Hey Costanj,
      Haven't driven the base Spark.
The Nissan Micra S is the only base model vehicle on all media fleets as far as I know.
Almost all media cars are top-spec to give the reviewer and audience a full scope of what the car can offer.
Truthfully, I don't know if there's a base Spark on the Chevy media fleet.
Wish I could say take the Micra but with no direct comparison, I unfortunately can't help in this case.

Micra has noticeably more pep than a Spark.

Now they don’t sell this cutie here anymore. Still in inventory till the end of this year. Sold in Canada from 2014 till 2019. Base MSRP about 8000 dollars. The TATA Nano of Nissan.

Armrest + 5-speed manual = Horrible combination! No air conditioning, not even as an option in the 5-speed. Nissan dealerships should at least be able to recommend a 3rd. party supply/installer. They don't. No engine temperature gauge, which is flat-out ridiculous.

2:13 same exact touchscreen as the 2019 Versa because the Micra shares the same platform as the Versa

We need this in the US big time! Better looking but tighter than the Versa.

Perks for the Rolling Stones Steel Wheels reference. Hard to imagine a car without A/C these days, then again my car's A/C doesn't work anymore but I'm getting used to it. Old school car, like a Mazda 323 hatch which didn't have a right side mirror.

The only way you see this car in the United States is that if you live in Detroit Michigan Buffalo Niagara Falls & Plattsburgh New York State St Albans Vermont the basically major cities that have interstate highways running through the Canadian border. Plattsburgh, NY & St Albans, VT are on I-87 & I-89 Corridor towards Montreal Quebec.

I wouldn't even consider a care without A/C. Power locks, mirrors and windows are pretty much essential too. The SV is the way to go.

    • @ZeldaIsMyLove

AC is the only thing I could not do without in a new car. Power locks and Windows are great. But I need AC for the amount of driving I do for work.
