    109HP? That's insane for that size (and price) car! Here in Europe we don't get the triple-digit horsepower engine at all, even as an upgrade :-(

    • @EliteSlayer542
      @EliteSlayer542 6 ปีที่แล้ว +85

      Thomas Sanladerer Say what? Does a car even move with 2 digit numbers? Or do you guys just not drive them on the highway?

    • @karstenhjaltelin7600
      @karstenhjaltelin7600 6 ปีที่แล้ว +152

      honestly, with 2 digit horsepower torque is really important. a 90 hp engine can be really decent with enough torque, but basically any standard european 60hp city car is useless above 80kmh

    • @EliteSlayer542
      @EliteSlayer542 6 ปีที่แล้ว +95

      Karsten Hjaltelin So I guess the Europeans are serious when they say "city car" eh?

    • @baptpopeil
      @baptpopeil 6 ปีที่แล้ว +57

      Thomas Sanladerer You're not completely true. Even though they are quite expensive, in Europe you can get a Renault Clio with 120hp, a Kia Rio/Hyundai i20 with 120hp, a ford fiesta with 140hp, a vw polo with 115 hp, a Peugeot 208 with 110 hp, etc... (These cars are often top of the range and with turbos). Even though most people in Europe buy city cars with 60-80 hp engines, we can still get quite punchy little cars :)

      @t-bone9239 6 ปีที่แล้ว +73

    Honestly guys, your "regular car" reviews are probably your best. We all get exposed to 6 videos on the same day of the new Porsche or whatever because all the TH-camrs went to the same press event, but stuff like this showcases why your channel is so great. Not everyone talks about cars like this, and because it doesn't have *every* feature imaginable there's way more of substance to talk about. Please keep doing reviews of sub-$50K cars, that's among the most interesting content.

    PS. I don't think I've ever heard a review that mentions how a car has perfect elbow position while driving! lol I remember that being important on my make it or break it list.
    PSS. Everyone, please drive carefully on the sideroads and watch out for bikers! Give them space too!

      Think how cheap you can get this used. It probably looses value like a rock thrown off a cliff, and the original price is super low. You can probably get a slightly used Micra for a few grand, and the car will be cheap to maintain for a long time after. If you're on a tight budget but need a car, and you dont care much about them beyond something to get you from A to B, I think this is perfect. Plus it doesn't have the tons of electronic toys that new cars have that are just waiting to malfunction (touchscreen glove box button anyone?).

      The only reason this car has them is because they're mandated by Canadian law for brand new cars. The newest model year Micra now comes standard with a backup camera, not because Nissan wanted to include it but because now all new cars in Canada are legally required to have one.

      It’s sad because they were so great back then. I really want them to succeed, but each new model they release (that happens very rarely) just let me down. They’re always priced above the others for what they offer. They have electronic difficulties and the engines don’t deliver. I wouldn’t be surprised either if they left the US/Canadian in 10 years.

    These things also sold well here in Australia and were pretty cheap, but Air Con was standard! Nissan no longer sells the Micra in Australia. In fact, Nissan Australia pretty much axed all of it's passenger cars, except the Leaf, 370Z and the GT-R, everything else is an SUV and a Ute (Pick Up/Truck).

    Weird that they used the 2011 model from the rest of the world as a super budget model for Canada. It is hilariously cheap though, 10k cad is like 5k gbp or 6k eur. Which is ridiculously cheap.

    Nissan Micra was first car I bought last year. I get some slagging for it at work and everybody else I see driving it is a wee old woman or old man. But I drove that motor to St Petersburg and then to Athens, driving over 10,000 miles in a 40 day period through everything from snow storms in the Baltic and dirt roads in Albania to the Italian alps. Hell of a motor, only issue at all was when I fell asleep in Poland with the lights on and drained the power. Hell of a car.
