- I'm back and I have something to show you. This one is a love child of Casio F91WG-9 and A168WEGB-1BEF and it is my favourite Casio mod so far.
This time I didn't have to replace a polarising film. I used LCD from A168WEGB-1BEF which is already an inverted LCD and the result is much better. I also used black stainless steel strap from the same A168WEGB-1BEF.
Still as slim as original Casio F91W but now has some weight to it and feels a lot more premium. Black & Gold Casio should go nicely with any outfit.

They'll charge a premium for it though. The fun with the F91Ws is that it's cheap and reliable and fun to mod it.
Edit: Just found out that they do sell a black gold version of the F91W with a positive display and still with the resin strap. Just change the strap to metal one and your good to go!

168 module is too thick for f91w case. You can fit in Skmei 1412 module wich has backlight like 168 but I don't think there is inverted display version of it.
As an 80s kid I strongly feel that you picked the right music for this video. That should be Casio's official theme song.
Cool project, too; it makes me want to understand more about how the LCDs work.

@@donnk Correct. Casio uses natural diamonds in the WEAD versions of their A158 and LA670 models.
I'm not a huge fan of the 91 in and of itself, but I love your videos and watching you work. I've said this before, too; the music is totally, absolutely, perfection. What a great production effort on your part, makes me smile to watch you work.

Great mod idea. Kinda spendy though so personally I'd get a S**** clone bracelet and invert the display on the F91WG-9, if possible.
Worth the wait, you did not disappoint! I can tell you're getting more careful and calculating. I was inspired by your videos and I just did a mod where I fit an A700WE module in a F91W for a better light, nato strap, and used mineral oil (lot of trial and error to get rid of the bubbles) for more water resistance... was a lot of fun!

Well that's one way to invert the display instead of peeling the polorizer off the screen, but I actually prefer the f91w band instead because it doesn't strip the hair on my rist, but still petty amazing!! Keep up the good work !!

I have the original F91-W with the gold trim, and of course this looks so much more awesome. Funny thing, watching the final result I instantly got reminded of one particular Formula One racing car team from the 70s: John Player Special. Those cars were in black with gold trim, and stuck out from the usual red, yellow, blue etc other racing cars.
You should google JPS and easily see it. One actually could imagine the drivers back then wearing watches designed like this for promotion. Digital watches were all the rage back then.

Casio is selling a black gold version of the F91W anyway. Just change the strap to a metal one and you're good to go! But this is a nice mod to current owners of this watch.

Does the presumably lighter weight of the F-91W case cause it to sit in any unusual way on the wrist?
Great work as usual, and another excellent mod. I have that F91W with the orange/gold trim at front. Now, this would lift that watch, esp. with getting the little detail with gold buttons. But needing a donator watch wouldn't work for me, only for that one mod. In your case I assume it's a different deal, as I guess you keep most leftovers for future mods.
But that strap change alone made the basic F91W a little more fun. What model did that strap came from? Another question: Have you tried using parts/modded from those Skmei Casio replicas? If so, would their parts fit into real Casios?

Shouldn't whole module from A168 fit in F91?
Anyway, this is great since it isn't easy to remove polarizer, and glass shatters easily.

What's the benefit of the F91 over the donor watch? Why not just use the other watch if it already has the inverted LCD? If it's purely looks, I can understand, that thing looks unreal!
