When I was in Elementary School, our Swim Teacher always told us to take off our watches before dipping in the pool.
Boy did I feel like a bad-ass rebel every time I flex on them swimming with this one still on my wrist.

An excellent ice-breaker as well to start a conversation. April 2019 I was trekking in Nepal and in the common dining room I spotted this watch worn by another trekker. I asked him straight up "Hello is that an f91". At first he was taken a back and looked at his watch to confirm the number and he gladly nodded in agreement "yeah but this is written f minus 91w". We spoke non stop for over an hour after that

I wore a F-91W daily all through the 90's. It never let me down, kept perfect time, I wore it to work under a dress shirt and I wore it while playing sports. Fantastic watch. I had totally forgotten about it when I saw it online a couple of weeks ago. I had no idea Casio was still selling the same exact watch since 1989. How cool, it is retro and new all at the same time. I immediately ordered one and have been wearing it daily since I got it. Wow, it is 1990 all over again :) A nice bit of nostalgia for $12. I collect watches but this is all the watch anyone needs if you just want the correct time. Everyone should have one in their collection.

My very first digital that I owned back in the 1960's here in the UK was a Casio. They had a stainless steel case and caseback in those days and were quite expensive. I have several Casio watches in my collection but not the F91. I own two Casio 5610 G-Shocks though which are awesome, two MTD1053D dive watches and other square watches by Casio which includes the Royale on the stainless steel bracelet. Casio offer an awesome range of watches and they are great value for money. I am currently wearing my Casio W-96H watch which I really enjoy wearing which is a bit larger than the F91 on the wrist and is quite a stylish watch and might be worth a review. It's great for someone with a small wrist size. Thank for uploading this video and greetings from here in the UK.

    Great video.
So my mother had this watch back in the mid 90's the first time I saw her after she had abandoned me 3yrs prior.
We sat at my Nan's kitchen table and her red F-91 caught my eye as she asked me (Do you forgive me?) To which I replied (Only if I can have that watch!)
I was clearly hardened by this point!!
Anyway I didn't get that watch as she was a nurse and needed it for work but soon afterwards my Dad let us begin monthly weekend visits and sure enough I arrived at her place one Friday night and voila! I had my own one just the same! Great bribe Mum, in hindsight it kinda worked on me!
Needless to say as a rough kid I broke / lost it within months but recently after beginning a watch collection properly for the first time I pulled the trigger on a black and blue one for a colossal £6.70 in GBP delivered free via Amazon prime and I'm wearing it right now as I type during my long quiet night shift.
Great to read everybody's stories and memories surrounding this horological icon!!

In December 2020 I looked at this watch as a gift for my spouse, but wound up going with the G-Shock DW5600E-1V. Love what Casio did with the industry and love that these watches are their own design. Few other watch makers stand on their own design language the way Casio does. She loves the watch, btw.

A true watch fan like you gets excited by the watch not the price tag. I´ve been getting into quartz Seikos from the 70´s- they go for pretty cheap but they do represent a hugely important turning point in the history of watches. That is cool to me. Back in 1975 say, quartz watches were still pretty new and at people were like, wow, you mean I don´t have to wind this....for years!!!

I actually have the gold variant and it's the only "gold" watch that I don't hate the looks of. I'm thinking maybe because it's not trying to look like gold, it's sort a just more humble and it's own thing. Like you said trying to be futuristic but so nostalgic as well. It's just a nice everyday wear and plesent enough to look at.

The one thing that I can't get over is the lack of a 4th button. You have to go through the setting mode to get back to time mode. That kind of sucks, because an inadvertent button press could change the time. I like having a special setting button that you have to hold for a couple of seconds.

Your young Time Teller. The F-w91 Came out in 1991 and Casio made there first watch in 1974. That is a 15 years apart. G-shock came out in 1984 a decade before the G-shock. Casio disconnected its older Digital, well not all, not the first G-shocks, it released the F-w91 in 1991. I group up as a little kid in the 1980's and the Casio Digital watches I had were not G-shocks but they had stainless steel buckles. Also Timex had a Digital divers watch that came out in 1980. When the 1990's came I was in high school and wore a Timex digital watch. Then in 1996 I revived a bigger Casio watch that wasn't a g-shock.
Casio started making Digital watches in 1974 and didn't even make the fist digital watch. That was Hamilton. On its American web site it is selling a reissue of that watch.
    American Classic PSR Digital Quartz
    Quartz | 40,8mm x 34,7mm | H52414130
    In stock
In 1970, Hamilton changed the way the world told time with the debut of the Hamilton Pulsar. Fifty years later, the Hamilton PSR celebrates the launch of that revolutionary first digital watch. Today, a hybrid display and a stainless steel case bring this game-changing invention back to the future.
    $745.00 www.hamiltonwatch.com/en-us/?msclkid=88bf46f70c1d1e43063318215235384b&(B)%20HamiltonWatch%20-%20Exact_new&Brand%20Exact&gclid=CJ-oyfSn4-kCFc6Bfgod2MgHOw&gclsrc=ds
Time Teller, Please got to the Hamilton web site and check it out. Also please check out the real history of digital watches.
None of this is to knock Casio. I love the watches and grew up with them and I own plenty of them now but in no way did they make digital watches what they are today. That was Seiko. They were a big player in the Digital watch. If you watch the James Bond movies you will see what I mean.
Any way love the videos. Keep them coming.

Like the color, but on my 7.25" wrist the F91W and 158W are little chicklet-things. I guess my wrist was a bit smaller back in the water park/video arcade days.

I worked in a jewelry store for a few years, I was the store "watch guy", so when someone asked about a watch they referred them to me, I did the batteries and adjusted the watch bands. When you talk about water resistance, watches that carry no water resistance labeling at all, they aren't even rated for splash. Many of those watches were wide open for water to enter, you could take the back off and see daylight out the opening for the stem, so there was absolutely nothing to prevent water from entering. No marking means no water resistance at all, it is recommended you remove the watch even when washing hands. Water resistant means splash water only, not even rated for swimming. Water resistant 50 or 100 will be good for surface swimming, usually no diving at all. One person brought in a watch, not marked water resistant at all, he went swimming in the ocean and when the watch was opened the movement was a solid lump of rust from the salt water.

I totally get what you mean about Casios looking like Casios. They have always had a consistent design language and consistent user interface. In the mid-80s, my big brother would take me to San Francisco Chinatown and into the camera and electronics shops and we would haggle with the shop owners over rare Casios that were not available in department stores. I probably owe my love of watches more to this than seeing my dad's wear his gold Rolex and that is saying a lot.

Eventually found it, used it my senior year of hs, wore it all through out the pandemic, and now after I started working at a water park for summer the poor thing gave out on the first day of being submerged in chlorinated water. I don't know how old it really is or who even owned it before me but all I know is that I really like it alot. I think I'll get another.

Great review - you should review the Casio the John Candy's character Dell Griffith wore in the iconic movie Planes Trains and Automobiles...one of the great nostalgic movies, and an awesome watch..."No, I have 2.00 and a Casio" The closest iteration to the actual one worn by Candy I believe is the A 159W -N1df. Just a stunning watch with the stainless steel band and glossy resin watch case...true icon to the 80s/90's.
