What’s really interesting about the product placement changes is that Nintendo had the licenses for a very long time. It was as late as mid-2017 when the NPC! port of Pikmin 2 had been rereleased on the Wii U eShop with no alterations whatsoever, up until the eShop’s closure in 2023. It makes me wonder if these changes were a preemptive or creative decision, like if they were worried that the products would be dated in the future or if referencing non-Nintendo products wasn’t a practice that set well with the leading creatives.
the Wii Version of Pikmin 2 was released in 2012, and the one on the Wii U as you said, 2017, and the Switch Version was released in 2024, so it seems that Contract only lasted 10 Years (2012-2022) concidering how it was still on Wii U but not Switch.
While I understand the removal of brands, likely because they didn't want to get permission again or something, the name changes confuse me. I know Wollyhop (It's Wollywog and you can't stop me) was a Pikmin 3 change, and I can understand Caustic being changed since it isn't really a water related term like Anode. But your telling me we can't have pickles.
While I can understand the wollywog name change now even tho I had no idea it was a term. I find it weird they went to the effort to downgrade the pikmin 3 logo but not rename the wollywogs since the name wolpoles is used in pikmin 4
I love how you can find those real world brand products that sucks they change them just like in Death Stranding the PS5 version they change Monster energy drinks I mean I understand why but it sucks
@@PinetatoRaptor literally zero reason to change those unless you think husband/wife is somehow offensive. They appear to be the only treasures that had a name change.
Ok, I can forgive the rebranding of the batteries, but taking away the weed is too far!
not the pikmin weed 💀
Honestly, I love how the batteries look.

Unfortunately it was changed due to it being a British slur
The remake was done by the European localization team, which explains wollyhop
@@philltheotherguy1868 the change to Wollyhop seems to have carried over into pikmin 4
I forgot how many name brand items there were in Pikmin 2, so may i recognize from my daily life
they removed the pickles, cant have shit on pnf-404
Fun fact: the remastered version of the hypnotic platter says "19th anniversary", and this remaster was released 19 years after the original pikmin 2.
Kinda funny that they changed some from being a brand to being generic
Video games are better when they have real products in the game but not in a way that it’s forced .

TL;DR
Wog is an offensive word in Britain.

did they really change all the brand names to generic? crazy
Why did they change gemstar husband/ wife?
my guess is to be more inclusive to non-hetero couples
@@fridaykitty Lame
the husband’s tears series was also changed to the expensive sentiments series

Fuck it I'm pirating, I just got the game on the switch to hear tokatas easter egg for half an hour like a dumbass. Also no weed
Y'know, there's a Mod for the Switch Version that actually restores all these Brands.
Works on the latest Game Version too

wokeness has officially crossed the line;...
What wokeness? These are literally just changing them to generic stuff
