Best series of all time. I honestly can't even rank them, I like them all for different reasons.1 & 3 for replayability and 2 & 4 for longer deep dives
Genuinely an all round incredible series, I definitely appreciate what 2 did to the series as a whole and also appreciate the type of gameplay it brings to the table. I don't really like when people say that the gameplay from 1 and 3 are "real" Pikmin experiences, because I don't think 2 being so different makes it any less of a Pikmin game. Though some valid criticism people say about pik2 is that it's a very flawed game and sequel, which also missed the point of what made Pikmin 1 so special, which is definitely true
@@SenderBender63if you have never played it how can you say it sucks? No offense just seems like bandwagoning the game is actually fun if you can get past its differences with the main Pikmin series and look at it as a spin off
I love Pikmin 4's gameplay but despise with every fiber of my being the story. A fucking reboot after ten years? Are you fucking with me, Nintendo? You just gonna put down a cliffhanger in 3 and then say "Lmao fuck you keep wondering" in 4? On god I'll throw hands.
@@birdbig6852platinum is optional tho, and rewinding is just and in game mechanic for resetting the gamecube in pikmin 2 so it ain't that bad, even in normal exploration i do it (just to the start of the day tho, like in the old games)
Heres my own list 1. Pik3 (definitely here because nostalgia, but i love getting the minimum days and replaying this one. Also love bingo battle and mission mode. ) 2. Pik4 (bunch of content, and am trying to do some challenge runs after 100%ing it, reeeaaaaaly enjoyed it) 3. Pik2 (i played all of the games as a challenge before, and i suprisingly loved it, definitely mulled over 4 and 2 the most) 4. Pik1 (The replayability and openess in both a game design sense and a level sense is great, definitely a short and sweet experience, but the dumb pikmin ai can definitely be frustrating at times when going back to it) 5. Hey Pik (The games pacing is the worst part of it, constant cutscenes, slow movement, the amount of collecables each level, and the fact that the first few worlds don't have a hint of engaging gameplay makes this reaaaally boring to play. Definitely has some great music, the cutscenes are charming to look at, and the visual design is great, but its just a really basic platformer with some really boring gameplay that becomes kinda interesting hours later ...wow lot to say for this one, huh?)
I'd say I agree with 3 vs 4 4s great and I'm really glad we finally got it, but the issues I have with the game keep me from liking it more than 3. I just... can't see 4 as my favorite
Pikmin 4 is my favorite. Its so polished, beautiful, relaxing. The treasure and environments are great. Being inside a house is so cool. The music is excellent. Its lengthy. I can gush about 4 all day
... you waited 10 years for an unreal engine game, no offense. it looks uncanny and squeaky clean, yk, everything the series aimed not to do. they couldn't even be assed to upgrade 3's engine, but i guess that would've been too much money out of their billion dollar pockets. idk why everyone is so happy with how this game looks when the environments are so severely lacking as well.
I just 100% Pikmin 2 and it holds up great in the gameplay department, honestly I think I like the controls better than Pikmin 4, because in 4 it auto locks and sometimes I don't want it to lock on to something and it stops you from throwing more Pikmin on an object then is required, it's annoying. Pikmin 3 has the best controls no debate, I understand 4's controls are for people who are new, but it feels like they over did it a bit.(if you disagree can you tell me why)
I agree. Autolock should've been something optional. It feels like the game doing stuff for me. When in the other pikmins aiming correctly was important and part of the experience
For me I hate the auto lock because it somehow made the game harder for me personally. Not having control over where I throw made multi enemy encounters quite frustrating.
strong agree. I played a lot of 3 in the buildup to 4 and the controls in 4 felt a little clunky. Too many options with Oatchi, and even just swapping between you and oatchi felt really difficult. Even having to juggle Brittany, Alph, and Charlie in 3 felt really easy and intuitive. I found myself messing up on a lot of dandoori challenges just because of the control set up
1. 3. Love the use of 3 captains, level design is great, use of pikmin for different gates, great. Bosses, great. Introduction of "go-here" was perfect for Pikmin. 2. 4. Tons of content, but the base-game level designs of 3 are better. The Dandori missions are awesome, leaf sage levels are awesome, Olimar missions are awesome, night missions are cool. 3. 2. Improves on 1, but 3 & 4 are better in every way to me. 4. 1, the OG, nothing to say except every new entry improved on it. (Pikmin AI is iffy now lol) 5. Hey by default, but I've never played it.
I really liked Pikmin 4 but going from 3 deluxe to 4 the controls felt a little clunky. Oatchi adds a lot of interesting gameplay to the series, but the amount of options with him makes it feels less seemless in game. Pikmin 3's controls were so seemless and i felt that it was so easy to multitask. If they could have kept the streamlines controls for 4 it would have been my top of the series, especially with the dandori challenges. I got go 2, 3 deluxe, 4, 1 personally
I tried making the list in my head and it was painful… all the games are so ENJOYABLE, but in their own ways! They are so different so comparing them together is so difficult! The pikmin series is truly a masterpiece.
“Find someone who doesn’t like Pikmin 2, I dare you.” It kinda sucks that the largest video on Pikmin two (Schaffrillas’s review) is kinda just unfairly hating on it. Pikmin 2 is not my favorite in the series, but It’s absolutely a wonderful game that I enjoyed nearly every second of.
He's just unfairly picking on things that don't actually matter, or things other games do, and repeating and contradicting his own points for 40 mins. He just has a dandori issue. Complains about game being too hard, complains about purples and bitter spray being broken
If someone sharing their reasons on why they don’t like a game is “unfairly hating”, then ig all negative opinions on all games are just “unfair hate”. God forbid someone doesn’t like your favorite game, that would be so unfair.
“The planet does not have any oxygen” actually it does. That’s the problem. Olimar’s and the other Pikmin protagonists can’t breathe oxygen. The planet is Earth, a planet rich in oxygen.
If we ever get updates or dlc I would want a new game + mode with 5 type limit, more aggressive enemies, some additional obstacles requiring backtracking with Pikmin only found in latter parts, and increasing price of upgrades. Maybe it would also disable auto lock too and… yeah I think that would address my issues with the game besides dandori battles being a poor substitute for bingo battle.
@@pkthunder9443i feel that since most people want pikmin 4 to be hard, why not allow only 3 still? give bulbear the glory it had in pikmin 2, make caves more dangerous, no rewinding and if you DO reset, you’ll reset to the start of the day, no autolock but there will be autolock on situations such as the one fell jump floor to increase difficulty + make the enemies much more aggressive if DLC does manage to come though, i would love to see a cave editor, which would basically allow you to build your own cave people will find out a way to make pikmin 2 caves
My personal ranking 1: Pikmin 2 2: Pikmin 4 3: Pikmin 3 4: Pikmin 1 (an enjoyable game Pikmin is above it because of gameplay) 5: Hey Pikmin( everyone saw this coming)
Day Limits from Pikmin 1&3 Is only really there for story reasons from my perspective since playthroughs after the first one would just be how fast you can beat the game since you'd already know where to go and what to do even with a day limit as low as 30. Time limits during the overworld still makes me feel a small sense of pressure of trying to do everything as fast as I can trying to minimise how long I spend In each level.
I'm in a Pikmin frenzy and have to play anything Pikmin related. Found out Hey! Pikmin is actually not a bad game, just different from the main series.
By the time I beat Pikmin 3 recently, I had over 70 days of fruit. I try to put myself in the characters and think that I want to get off the planet as soon as I can so that challenges me to use the days to the best of ability. I beat Pikmin 1 in 17 days and made a lot of mistakes so you can breeze through these games. Pikmin 4 is the exception as the night scenes really drag out the days as you spend a full day on the night sequences as well.
If Pikmin 4 had actual respawning enemies and didn’t let you instantly rewind every time you mess up (removes any and all tension and feeling of consequence to rushing into dungeons and bosses) it would be #1 but nope, Pikmin 2 remains the GOAT. Cement
I mean, rewinding is basically just there so we don't have to restart our console every time you lose a whole bunch of Pikmin. It's not there to be abused (actually, it tends to be a pain to use since it brings you back to the start of the sublevel/area, making you transport everything all over again). I mean, Pikmin 2 had a rewind feature too... It's called the reset button 😂
The thing with 3 I didn't like on my recent playthrough was how much the story railroads you, it's entirely possible to get up to the point of beating the Mireclops and rescuing Louie and just ending the game by beating the Plasm Wraith without collecting all of the fruit. The game is really satisfying if you break away from following the story and just collecting everything as efficiently as possible but it feels at odds entirely with how the game's story wants you to play it. It almost feels like it's 2 different games in one where 1 is a collect-a-thon like in 1 or 2 and the other half, the one the game heavily favors and pushes you toward, is just a linear series of boss fights (with arbitrary invincibility stages btw lolololololol) I find it really weird that people think 3 is closer to 1 than 2 is closer to 1, considering neither 1 or 2 hold your hand as much as 3 does. 1 and 2 give you an overarching goal to achieve but they both let you accomplish it the way you want to. They give you a toolbox to beat the game with and you create your own path to your goal the way you want to. In Pikmin 3, it's more like collecting 100% of the fruits is just the side goal to beating the game, if all you want to do is beat the plasm wraith and be done with it you can just get enough fruit to keep going. The only thing you get for getting 100% is slightly nicer ending screen text, anyway. It's not really your story, it's the story of the Koppaites, and the game tries it's hardest to force you to play the way it wants you to. 4 has a pretty hand-holdy tutorial but after you get past the Sun-Speckled Terrace the characters kinda shut up and let you do your own thing. I think it's for the best that it's more like 1 and 2, 4 feels like the proper sequel to both of those games and I think it might end up beating up 2 as my favorite if it weren't so bloated. I still like 3 quite a bit in spite of my issues with it but IMO it's the weakest in the series and I don't really understand the recent fascination with it. I understand zoomers get filtered by 2 but I also don't see why nobody else notices this stuff when it's pretty apparent and different from the other entries. Also, the Olimar mode from 4 is the first time a time limit in Pikmin has actually mattered and wasn't just window dressing. I find it very funny that it took the game with the least emphasis on beating it quickly for the series to give us something on the side where "Muh Time Limit" makes you evaluate how you spend your time and as efficiently as possible.
I actually don't mind this, 3 is my favorite for multiple reasons but I never cared about it being linear, it's still the most fun and polished one to me
There's a word for Pikmin 3's design....metroidvania, it may not be 2d, but it's similar to that, & the game being linear doesn't make it hand holdy, whereas Pikmin 4 in addition to the talky tutorial is full of second rate repetitive dialogue throughout the story (which I'm only 20 hrs into); also the single player is often just a tutorial vehicle for the multiplayer. & the overworld is more of a hub world for the caves which are more linear than Pikmin 3's level design. Though going back to the overworld, it's certainly more open than 3 at the outset, but for that reason, it lacks good set-piece moments which 3 has in spades. 4 also lacks the "dandori" of 3, a game that allowed you to be operating 3 separate crews all across the map. Also, 3's controls destroy 4's, as do 1 & 2's. In my last playthrough of 3, I got everything in 6 hrs, not a world record, but it shows that the fact that the game’s setpieces & bosses, & structure aren’t restraining or constraining.
4. Pikmin 1 Awesome time management and simplistic game. 3. Pikmin 3 Rich story mode and heavily underrated challenge mode. 2. Pikmin 2 Amazing continuation with many iconic and unique additions to the base Pikmin formula. 1. Pikmin 4 Superb reimagined Pikmin experience with peak above ground and below ground gameplay with a laughable amount of content. What’s Hey Pikmin?
My list: 1. Pikmin or pikmin3 i cant deside! 3.pikmin4 4.pikmin2 5.hey! Pikmin I like pikmin 2 and i had a lot of fun (its a pikmin game what do you expect?) But i grew up with pikmin 3 and something with pikmin1 just clicks with me. Idk what but its just super fun. The first time i played pikmin1 i didint like it at ALL because of the time Limit. Then i beat all the other games and thought lets try it again and then i had super fun with it.
I ranked it based on following: Pikmin 4 is the best, Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 3 are very close 2nd (I flip between the two), Pikmin 1 is last although still a great game. My issue with Pikmin 1 is poor controls causing frustration at times and just how short the game is. I do agree with the positive points in this game that the levels are well-designed and I miss how challenging some of the enemies were (notably the Wollyhog or Frog-like characters, they got nerfed in the other games to the point that they aren't a threat anymore). Pikmin 3's multiplayer mode is the best because you get bigger levels, multiple Pikmin-types, etc. I play it with my wife the most of the groups. Pikmin 3's Mission mode is awesome as well but I do think Pikmin 3 has a weak campaign in that it is easy and quick to complete.
2 = 4 > 3 > 1 > hey 1 to me is first game syndrome while it's a great stand alone experience even really unique at 2001 I just think the sequels just improved with AI more Pikmin types and monsters etc 2 is probably my fav even if I have it equal to 4 mainly because 2 just means a lot to me I used to 100% like 4 times a year years ago 3 when 3 came out was slightly disappointed by caves not returning but replaying it so many times I do appreciate the triple captain Dandori and the great mission modes, while I like 2 more with the dungeon crawling I feel like these embrace what Pikmin gameplay should be and improved on in 4 in most ways 4 after 100%ing 4 twice I really couldn't be happier, caves are back so many Pikmin enemies/bosses from the whole series return in HD, the Dandori missions were awesome, I love the big overworlds and multiple bases. One of those games so good I just can't help to nitpick some things because it's so close to being prefect, like why do you get the Lineup Trumpet so late Nintendo thats so monkey's paw. I mean I can make other criticisms like maybe enemies don't respawn or yellow's aren't needed at all in the second half of the game but I'm mostly happy with it tho my biggest issue with 4 is that it rewrote Pikmin 1 for no reason when the game could have just been after 4, it even felt set up since 3 implied there's a reason why there's so many ship crashes and 4 was all about the castaways. Oh Shiggy you and your story hate Hey Pikmin is ok don't hate it like most people do it even had cool enemy designs and even a new Groink species which 4 was weirdly missing
(some spoilers here) This is my exact ranking. Just 100% and platinumed all challenges in Pikmin 4 last night, and it has so much content. Took me about 42 hours to complete it. It really felt like a love letter to Pikmin fans (Pikmin 2 specifically) with the returning fan favorite enemies like Waterwraith and Man at Legs, Louie having another final boss, Olimar's shipwreck tale, etc. Plus, the six main areas were an absolute joy to explore, with phenomenal visuals, gameplay, and level design. Oatchi and all of the captain's abilities/commands made "dandori" the most fun in the series, despite 3's triple captain mechanic. Pikmin 2 is tied though (mainly due to nostalgia), but I can admit that 4 is better in many ways. However, 2 has the difficulty that makes it stand out from the other games. 1 and 3 are also great, with awesome replayability and high quality area design with memorable puzzles and set pieces, but they are definitely a bit too short for my liking. Still great games though. And then Hey Pikmin... Is fine. I enjoyed it, but I won't say that it's even close to the other games.
When he said pigment who was the best like 50 billion people just clicked off the video they're all expecting Pikmin 4 to be the best and then they just smashed the keyboard or through their iPhone on the ground or Android
For me: 5. Hey! Pikmin (even though I don’t think it’s as bad as people say it is) 4. Pikmin 2 (Once again, not bad, I just think the caves are poorly designed) 3. Pikmin 1 (I prefer the challenge of this game over any other, but it’s a little short) 2. Pikmin 3 (Pikmin 1 but easier, but with way better area design, and way more to do. Pikmin 1 and 3 were really hard to rank) 1. Pikmin 4 (The length and exploration of Pikmin 2 with the level design of Pikmin 1 on the surface and the level design in the caves of Pikmin 3. It has the best of all worlds. I just wish there was some kind of day limit, as that has a level of arcade like goodness that makes Pikmin 1 and 3 so much better.)
(just gonna ignore how adventure keeps getting forgotten) as someone who has actually played hey pikmin, I think that it honestly gets WAY to much hate, most of the hate comes from people hating because other people hate it the only real problem is that it doesn't have much substance there are some good things about hey pikmin, such as balanced pikmin types or creative enemy designs (AKA not just "its a dog with its front legs cut off that has every element") it's not bad, it just doesn't compare with the others (also trying to compare a 2d platformer with a 3d RTS is a little unfair, of course the quickly produced spinoff game won't compare to the game that took a decade to make) also the mario movie wouldn't exist without hey pikmin (legitimately)
Honestly, if I had to state my opinion, Pikmin 3 would be higher. I like the bosses, the missions, side stories and the 2 player. The bad part is definitely the linear-ness of Pikmin 3 levels. But still, I like this game.
CEMENT! It’s okay if you don’t agree with my list, everybody has different opinions. Just don’t be rude about it. 5. Hey! Pikmin 4. Pikmin 2 3. Pikmin 3 2. Pikmin 1 1. Pikmin 4
pikmin 2 at # 1 absolutely baffles me. i really wanted to like 2, i really did, but the RNG elements and the reused level layouts and the UNFAIR ramps of difficulty made it so unbearably frustrating and headache inducing that i genuinely couldnt find it in me to finish it. i wish i could have got the same enjoyment out of it like the rest of the pikmin community clearly did :( i just couldnt stand the janky-ness of it, the bombs and enemies just randomly spawning from the skies making deaths feel cheap and not at my own fault or hands, and in general i just feel like the game is tediously long and overstays its welcome. the schafrillas video on it is literally the only schafrillas video i've ever agreed with as i generally dont like his presumed 'hate because it's popular' mentality he seems to present, but really his opinions of pikmin 2 heavily reflect my own. it's a shame really :'( if they ever polished up pikmin 2 with a modern paint of coat, gave it like 3 or 4's AI mechanics and took away the enemies falling from the pearly gates to send me to hell for no reason, i think i'd have a far better time with it. just my two cents just my opinion 🫶 since i feel very isolated in feeling this way sometimes, just figured i would share.
Sounds more like a Dandori issue to me. Also, Schaffrillas' video about Pikmin 2 is objectively wrong and he does nothing but contradict himself constantly. Pikmin 2 is the best game in the series and saying otherwise is pure lies and slander.
Pikmin 2 hits the theme of an rts game the best, because you really need a strategy. Blindly walking into sublevels with 100 Pikmin and just trying to brute force wont work and is therefore a bad strategy. You really need to scout for traps, enemy location etc., because if you dont, you will lose pikmin. And its the only game, where the fights are strategic as well, as its usually better to fight bosses with a small group of pikmin. I get its by far the most difficult pikmin game, but i really loved beating it 100% with no deaths. And the random generation just makes replaying the game way more fun, because you can never fully know a sublevel. So i absolutly feel the same for this list: 1. Pikmin 2 2. Pikmin 4 3. Pikmin 1 4. Pikmin 3
A lot of Pikmin 2’s love comes from us who grew up with it. For the longest time Pikmin 1 and 2 was all us Pikmin fans had, but personally, looking back on Pikmin 2 it is probably my least favorite of the 4 even though I still love it.
I actively despise pikmin 2, and it frustrates me because I would love to understand what people enjoy so much about the caves. The caves in pikmin 2 are what make it my least favorite game in the series. The way the caves add difficulty feels cheap and artificial on so many levels, whether it be falling bombs, falling enemies, and sometimes just pure enemy spam. In fact, almost every cave feels like enemy spam. The combat focused nature of them isn’t fun because pikmin isn’t purely a combat focused game, it’s also about multitasking and trying to go fast, but pikmin 2 throws that out the window and replaces it all with repetitive combat over and over. It’s not even like the combat is fun because purple pikmin and ultra bitter sprays wipe the floor with enemies, removing any strategy that was there in pikmin 1 when fighting enemies. Unless you are in a very specific situation, you have no reason to not use purple pikmin on almost every enemy in the game. I could go on for much longer on what I hate about the caves but I’ll stop there. It honestly makes me appreciate pikmin 4 even more and what it did with the caves to heavily improve upon them.

"The game is too difficult! The Purple Pikmin and Bitter Sprays make it too easy!" How can a game be simultaneously be too difficult and too easy? Anyone who uses these arguments against Pikmin 2 clearly don't know what the fuck they're talking about! Dandori Issue! *GIT GUD!*
@@newb_idkhes right tho, bitter sprays and purples are good... but if you waste them, you have to invest time to get more. heck, whites and spicy sprays are good too. You can call them "broken", but i wouldnt say so, because you actively have to farm them and use them wisely. You know, strategy, thats whats makes an RTS game
I disagree with the "falling" stuff being a bad point at all. Because you could prevent that by just walking around without pikmin and analysing the area first, and then plan how to go about it. That's what I did a lot of times. I think Pikmin 2 clearly encourages the player to not blindly walk around with your whole squad, and it's satisfying to prevent all of that by taking the neccesary precautions. There's a lot of situations where it's better to not have the squad, or to have a small part of it which makes it more interesting in my opinion. I also don't get your comments in regards to the difficulty, because it feels like you're simultaneously saying that the game is "too easy" and "too hard"
A few gripes I dont like about Pikmin 4 are 1. Caves are easy. Only when you hit the final cave is it hard and brutal. 2. The Dandori challenges suddenly turning the exploration type if game to a minigame. Some might like it, but i prefer exploration over minigame. 3. Enemies above ground, dont respond. I miss having to refight the enemies above ground or even having surprise bosses come above land like in Pikmin 2. 4. The inability to choose more than 3 types of pikmin is a horrible mistake since you dont have the flexibility to change up the fighting. 5. No true co-op. We have have 2 captains. Let us play with a friend. 6. The ability to restart the level defeats the idea of what it is to lose your pikmin. There is more to say, but to be honest, Pikmin is the GOAT of the series. Totally worth it.
personally i really like hey pikmin But i dont think it fits to be a pikmin game and its time of release was pretty bad i still would say its the weakest though
I'm sorry but pikmin 4 just doesn't match the charm of the previous games, the atmosphere of the realistic graphics of pikmin 3, with pikmin 4's overly saturated colors feels like a color game for children while pikmin 3 actually feels like you are on an alien planet, instead of feeling like you are running around destrying the eco system, in the former games it feels like you are actually on a hunt for an important mission (pikmin 2 is limited in this regard), getting out of an alien planet with a chance of never seeing your wife and kids ever again? It's so compelling, likewise saving your planet from starvation, I much prefer a character with an actual story than a bunch of emotionless characters scatter just for the heck of it, pikmin 2 with it's difficulty and amazing soundtracks and creatures (especially bossfights) portray the game's idea so much better, pikmin 4 is just a reboot to get more players interested, it just doesn't expand on the former trinity and lacks depth, (funny dog = good tho) all pikmin games are good, but pikmin 4 is the worst
What would you rank in terms of difficulty?!, I was disappointed at the automation Pikmin 4 demo seemed to have during core gameplay, no tension or excitement
@clapbee5007 honestly I'd say it was an extreme rarity I can only think of one real instance it happened to me, and it was a harder version of something that was in 2
Here's my list: 6. Pikmin Bloom - mobile game :/ 5. Hey Pikmin - don't bother with the no pikmin lost medals in each level. Actively made the game worse. Other than that, it was pretty fun, just not great. 4. Pikmin - this game still has the best atmosphere in the series, with Olimar being in a truly dire situation. His dialogue and background makes you really feel for him. Plus, it's super replayable with great area design. However, it's super short, has the least Pikmin variety, and feels quite janky at times. Still, it's definitely a great game with an important place in the series 3. Pikmin 3 - best looking game on Wii U and still one of the best looking games in general. Great area design, tons of polish, excellent bosses, and a charming cast of characters. The Deluxe Olimar/Louie side missions were a nice treat, and the challenges were pretty fun. Plus bingo battle is just 👌. Unfortunately, 3 feels like it ends too soon, and its difficulty is lacking. Plus, I miss Purples and Whites despite their appearance in the side modes. Excellent game all around 2. Pikmin 2 - after careful consideration, I have to place 2 below 4. This game is phenomenal, with excellent gameplay (swarming baby!), Great area design once again, and a very pleasant difficulty level. The caves, while a bit hectic, feels extremely satisfying to complete due to their length and combat challenge. Unlike 1 (and 3 to a lesser extent), 2 really has a lot of meat on its bones. I love the cast, with Louie and the President being excellent characters. Also, Purple and White Pikmin are amazing additions. The treasure system is still my favorite compared to the ship part and fruit system due to the treasures' detail and fun notes by Olimar and the Ship. Also, Louie's notes on the beasts is just 👌. Phenomenal game. 1. Pikmin 4 - it's beautiful, it's lengthy, it's dense with content, it's my new favorite. The six areas are all fantastically designed with their own unuque gimmicks and mechanics, feeling more open while still having a lot of challenges and dandori potential. The dandori challenges and battles are excellent additions to the Pikmin formula, and I loved getting platinum on all of them. Oatchi is an awesome addition and gives the game so much intricacy in terms of how you tackle a lot of enemies, treasures, and especially dandori challenges/battles. The return of caves is truly what makes this game great for me, combining combat with puzzles to make uniquely and excellently designed sublevels for every cave in the game. Not a single one was worse than good. Plus, the castaway system is super neat and charming. The post game is probably the best Pikmin experience I've ever had. This game is basically a love letter to Pikmin fans with all of the cool callbacks and easter eggs. My only two gripes with the game is that the combat is too easy due to Oatchi's rush and the fact that some upgrades are unlocked way too late into the game (swarming was done dirty 😢). This game needs a new game + just so I can see how fast I can get through it with everything unlocked. Overall, Pikmin 4 is terrific, and it's one of my new favorite games of all time alongside Pikmin 2. Truly a modern masterpiece.
1) Pikmin 3 2) Pikmin 2 3) Pikmin 1 4) Pikmin 4 5) Hey Pikmin Pikmin 3 is my favorite because it has some of the best boss fights in the series, it has an amazing soundtrack, and the world design is beautiful. Pikmin 4 is low on my list because it didn't bring as much new stuff to the table. More than half of its bosses were from previous games which was disappointing. The game also felt too long IMO.
my ranking for worst to best pikmin games as a pikmin fan from the games birth Gameplay Hey!Pikmin Pikmin 3 Pikmin Pikmin 4 Pikmin 2 Story Hey!Pikmin Pikmin 4 Pikmin 2 Pikmin 3 Pikmin Hey!Pikmin is ass and a disappointment to me Pikmin was a fucking masterpiece in Gameplay and Story. Only ranked lower than Pikmin 4 in gameplay because of glitches. Story, mf is the peak of all pikmin games. A lovable character that's trying to escape certain death to return to his family while fighting every last thing he can with barely any hope for success? Phenomenal. Pikmin 2 was god tier to me. My favourite thing was to farm pikmin and pretend i was getting ingredients for Louie and his restaurant that I made up in my head when I was little. I got to day 526 on one save before i lost the game for a bit and only found it after the memory card that had that save on it corrupted. Fucking adored that game. Story was bland, though, deadass just "Get treasure" Pikmin 3 was where I started wanting hands. Story was good, don't get me wrong, but gameplay. Oh god, when they changed the design of the onions to look so incredibly mechanical from the og designs, I wanted smoke. Smoke urge only increased when electricity was no longer lethal. No more swarm? Throw hands Nintendo. Onions FUSING? Oh i wanted to be in a boxing ring. Idk why all this shit annoyed me, but it DID. It changed the way the onions from the previous games were and confused shit for me. Where the FUCK did these new onions come from breh? Pikmin 4. Gameplay? Good. Caves? Good. Onions? Still fusing together but in a much better way. The shit isn't mechanical anymore and provides a possibility for the future onions appearance in Pikmin 2. The story? Never before have i despised a pikmin game for the story. It retconned Pikmin 1 and takes place inbetween this new pikmin 1 and pikmin 2. All this time waiting for something to happen AFTER Pikmin 3, and we get...a fucking reboot? Pure and utter disappointment. I tried so hard to find out if this shit happened after three, but no. Olimar didn't know what yellow pikmin were with this. Koppai isn't in its famine yet, just rapidly approaching. Hocotate Freight hasn't suffered the Golden Pikpik incident with Louie yet. The entire lore is now fucked up and i am pressed about it. The only good story bit is that the onions were replaced again to be much more organic, and the life cycle of an onion can now almost completely and thoroughly be explained. Candypop Bud, Pikmin 4 Onion, after enough Flarlic, nutrients, and time passing, the onion will unfuse from any other onions, dig into the ground, and hibernate as the root limbs turn wooden, the onion flattens slightly, and everything hardens to be more protective. Pikmin 4 Onions are adolescent onions and Pikmin 2 onions are adult onions, and I am here for that. Only good story bit from Pikmin 4 IMO. That's my opinions on this shit. Cya
Best series of all time. I honestly can't even rank them, I like them all for different reasons.1 & 3 for replayability and 2 & 4 for longer deep dives
Up there with the Metal gear solid series in being perfect and almost impossible to rank from one another
fr best series
Genuinely an all round incredible series, I definitely appreciate what 2 did to the series as a whole and also appreciate the type of gameplay it brings to the table.
I don't really like when people say that the gameplay from 1 and 3 are "real" Pikmin
experiences, because I don't think 2 being so different makes it any less of a Pikmin game.
Though some valid criticism people say about pik2 is that it's a very flawed game and sequel, which also missed the point of what made Pikmin 1 so special, which is definitely true
I'd argue the randomly genrated caves of 2 make it pretty replayable
@@jeremyshepherd1700 to be fair it is the longest by quite a bit (I believe)
I love how most of the pikmin community actually has a diverse ranking about the pikmin games.
No kidding, this is the first list where I saw pikmin2 at number 1
All the games are pretty good man, except for hey, which is always gonna be at the bottom
All pikmin fans can collectively agree hey pikmin just sucks, I’ve never played it but I’ve played all the main line ones
@@SenderBender63 Hey! was good, it just fell victim to people wanting another mainline game at the time.
@@SenderBender63if you have never played it how can you say it sucks? No offense just seems like bandwagoning the game is actually fun if you can get past its differences with the main Pikmin series and look at it as a spin off
No you cannot convince me that Hey Pikmin is a game. There is only 4 Pikmin games.
Great video, nice and well in depth!
Pikmin 4 might be the new 1#. Only bad thing about it is it’s difficulty and coop. But it definitely is my 2023 game of the year.
nah 2 is better
I love Pikmin 4's gameplay but despise with every fiber of my being the story. A fucking reboot after ten years? Are you fucking with me, Nintendo? You just gonna put down a cliffhanger in 3 and then say "Lmao fuck you keep wondering" in 4? On god I'll throw hands.
terrible game taste
Pikmin 4 too easy?
Getting all platinum from the white sage and doing the last cave without rewinding was hard.
@@birdbig6852platinum is optional tho, and rewinding is just and in game mechanic for resetting the gamecube in pikmin 2 so it ain't that bad, even in normal exploration i do it (just to the start of the day tho, like in the old games)
Heres my own list
1. Pik3
(definitely here because nostalgia, but i love getting the minimum days and replaying this one.
Also love bingo battle and mission mode. )
2. Pik4
(bunch of content, and am trying to do some challenge runs after 100%ing it, reeeaaaaaly enjoyed it)
3. Pik2
(i played all of the games as a challenge before, and i suprisingly loved it, definitely mulled over 4 and 2 the most)
4. Pik1
(The replayability and openess in both a game design sense and a level sense is great, definitely a short and sweet experience, but the dumb pikmin ai can definitely be frustrating at times when going back to it)
5. Hey Pik
(The games pacing is the worst part of it, constant cutscenes, slow movement, the amount of collecables each level, and the fact that the first few worlds don't have a hint of engaging gameplay makes this reaaaally boring to play.
Definitely has some great music, the cutscenes are charming to look at, and the visual design is great, but its just a really basic platformer with some really boring gameplay that becomes kinda interesting hours later
...wow lot to say for this one, huh?)
I'd say I agree with 3 vs 4
4s great and I'm really glad we finally got it, but the issues I have with the game keep me from liking it more than 3. I just... can't see 4 as my favorite
i disagree but i cant make you change your opinion
This is my exact list, except 1 and 2 would be swapped for me
Pikmin 4 is my favorite.
@@murmirr Waited 10 years? I'm a fairly new fan bud. Keep your negativity to yourself. Thank you
I just 100% Pikmin 2 and it holds up great in the gameplay department, honestly I think I like the controls better than Pikmin 4, because in 4 it auto locks and sometimes I don't want it to lock on to something and it stops you from throwing more Pikmin on an object then is required, it's annoying.
What he said ^^
For me I hate the auto lock because it somehow made the game harder for me personally.
I found myself messing up on a lot of dandoori challenges just because of the control set up
The only time where I found the auto aim really annoying was the seventh tale of the trial of the sage leaf.
I still haven’t beaten it. 😢
Pikmin 2 is my favorite and 4 is following up close. This is my favorite Nintendo franchise for sure
(Pikmin AI is iffy now lol)
I agree
I tried making the list in my head and it was painful… all the games are so ENJOYABLE, but in their own ways! They are so different so comparing them together is so difficult! The pikmin series is truly a masterpiece.
Cement
Also, great video. Just ordered a copy of 4 and I have the bundle for 1 and 2 preordered. Lotta fun to be had in the next couple of month.
I got mad when he said bulbmin do nothing like cmon man
He's just unfairly picking on things that don't actually matter, or things other games do, and repeating and contradicting his own points for 40 mins. He just has a dandori issue. Complains about game being too hard, complains about purples and bitter spray being broken
Schraffrillas is a hypocritical clout chasing dumbass.
If someone sharing their reasons on why they don’t like a game is “unfairly hating”, then ig all negative opinions on all games are just “unfair hate”. God forbid someone doesn’t like your favorite game, that would be so unfair.
@@newb_idkand he even said that he still does like pikmin 2, it’s just that because of the bad parts he doesn’t replay it as much as the others
Keep up the great work man
Pikmin 4 is what a video game should be
i would stop playing video games if that were true. not every video game should be a big pile of shit like pikmin 4
Great list! Couldn’t have listed or said it any better 👍🏽
"Olimars suit has 30 days of oxygen" wouldn't that kill him?
“The planet does not have any oxygen” actually it does. That’s the problem. Olimar’s and the other Pikmin protagonists can’t breathe oxygen. The planet is Earth, a planet rich in oxygen.
Honestly.... Pikmin 4's difficulty is the one thing holding it back from being the best game in the series
@@pkthunder9443i feel that since most people want pikmin 4 to be hard, why not allow only 3 still? give bulbear the glory it had in pikmin 2, make caves more dangerous, no rewinding and if you DO reset, you’ll reset to the start of the day, no autolock but there will be autolock on situations such as the one fell jump floor to increase difficulty
+ make the enemies much more aggressive
if DLC does manage to come though, i would love to see a cave editor, which would basically allow you to build your own cave
people will find out a way to make pikmin 2 caves
not only make the enemies more aggressive, make them smarter and have a tankier amount of hp
nerf the pikmin as well
TMW Nintendo remembered they do actually like money and put an entire series - minus spin-offs no-one liked - on a single console.
Got them all. Don’t have the amiibo tho but that’s ok.
Pikmin 5 is the best... comes out Christmas 2027 where you team up with all the enemies you once fought to take down a distant alien race.
a 4 year wait between releases? I envy your optimism
That sounds great.
I prefer 6min
It'll probably come out in 2034 at this point.
It took me 53 hours to 100% and all platinum pikmin 4 imo its the best pikmin game, best switch game, and imo nintendos best game.
Pikmin 4 introduced me to the series. I beat the game yesterday. I love this franchise. It’s so immersive and quirky
Excited to play this series for the first time on the Switch
My personal ranking
1: Pikmin 2
2: Pikmin 4
3: Pikmin 3
4: Pikmin 1 (an enjoyable game Pikmin is above it because of gameplay)
5: Hey Pikmin( everyone saw this coming)
My ranking would be 4-1-3-2-hey
Day Limits from Pikmin 1&3 Is only really there for story reasons from my perspective since playthroughs after the first one would just be how fast you can beat the game since you'd already know where to go and what to do even with a day limit as low as 30.
Time limits during the overworld still makes me feel a small sense of pressure of trying to do everything as fast as I can trying to minimise how long I spend In each level.
In hey pikmin there is purple and white onions, but you can never use white pikmin or purple pikmin
A small correction on your segment on Pikmin 1. The planet has an abundance of oxygen, but it is toxic to Olimar (and other Hocotatians).
Great list!

2.Pikmin 4
3.Pikmin 2

Hey pikmin: what
If Pikmin 4 had actual respawning enemies and didn’t let you instantly rewind every time you mess up (removes any and all tension and feeling of consequence to rushing into dungeons and bosses) it would be #1 but nope, Pikmin 2 remains the GOAT.
Cement
You mean the totally optional rewinding? I'm assuming you ignore it and it isn't even a factor right?
@@jeremyshepherd1700I didn’t even know rewind was a thing tbh
It almost feels like it's 2 different games in one where 1 is a collect-a-thon like in 1 or 2 and the other half, the one the game heavily favors and pushes you toward, is just a linear series of boss fights (with arbitrary invincibility stages btw lolololololol)
I find it really weird that people think 3 is closer to 1 than 2 is closer to 1, considering neither 1 or 2 hold your hand as much as 3 does.
Very well put, said things I felt but couldn't put into words
Didn’t know we were writing essays down here. You learn something new everyday.

The first time i played pikmin1 i didint like it at ALL because of the time Limit. Then i beat all the other games and thought lets try it again and then i had super fun with it.
easy. hey, 1, 3, 2, adventure and 4
I ranked it based on following: Pikmin 4 is the best, Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 3 are very close 2nd (I flip between the two), Pikmin 1 is last although still a great game.
How it works. Is your favorites either 2 or 4
Hey Pikmin is by far the best
This comment is a joke btw 💀
2 = 4 > 3 > 1 > hey
1 to me is first game syndrome while it's a great stand alone experience even really unique at 2001 I just think the sequels just improved with AI more Pikmin types and monsters etc
2 is probably my fav even if I have it equal to 4 mainly because 2 just means a lot to me I used to 100% like 4 times a year years ago
3 when 3 came out was slightly disappointed by caves not returning but replaying it so many times I do appreciate the triple captain Dandori and the great mission modes, while I like 2 more with the dungeon crawling I feel like these embrace what Pikmin gameplay should be and improved on in 4 in most ways
4 after 100%ing 4 twice I really couldn't be happier, caves are back so many Pikmin enemies/bosses from the whole series return in HD, the Dandori missions were awesome, I love the big overworlds and multiple bases. One of those games so good I just can't help to nitpick some things because it's so close to being prefect, like why do you get the Lineup Trumpet so late Nintendo thats so monkey's paw. I mean I can make other criticisms like maybe enemies don't respawn or yellow's aren't needed at all in the second half of the game but I'm mostly happy with it
tho my biggest issue with 4 is that it rewrote Pikmin 1 for no reason when the game could have just been after 4, it even felt set up since 3 implied there's a reason why there's so many ship crashes and 4 was all about the castaways. Oh Shiggy you and your story hate
Hey Pikmin is ok don't hate it like most people do it even had cool enemy designs and even a new Groink species which 4 was weirdly missing

5. Hey! Pikmin (even though I don’t think it’s as bad as people say it is)
4. Pikmin 2 (Once again, not bad, I just think the caves are poorly designed)
3. Pikmin 1 (I prefer the challenge of this game over any other, but it’s a little short)
2. Pikmin 3 (Pikmin 1 but easier, but with way better area design, and way more to do. Pikmin 1 and 3 were really hard to rank)
1. Pikmin 4 (The length and exploration of Pikmin 2 with the level design of Pikmin 1 on the surface and the level design in the caves of Pikmin 3. It has the best of all worlds. I just wish there was some kind of day limit, as that has a level of arcade like goodness that makes Pikmin 1 and 3 so much better.)

as someone who has actually played hey pikmin, I think that it honestly gets WAY to much hate, most of the hate comes from people hating because other people hate it
the only real problem is that it doesn't have much substance
there are some good things about hey pikmin, such as balanced pikmin types or creative enemy designs (AKA not just "its a dog with its front legs cut off that has every element")
it's not bad, it just doesn't compare with the others (also trying to compare a 2d platformer with a 3d RTS is a little unfair, of course the quickly produced spinoff game won't compare to the game that took a decade to make)
also the mario movie wouldn't exist without hey pikmin (legitimately)

Never played Hey!
I think the dog make pikmin 4 too easy
pikmin 2 at # 1 absolutely baffles me. i really wanted to like 2, i really did, but the RNG elements and the reused level layouts and the UNFAIR ramps of difficulty made it so unbearably frustrating and headache inducing that i genuinely couldnt find it in me to finish it. i wish i could have got the same enjoyment out of it like the rest of the pikmin community clearly did :( i just couldnt stand the janky-ness of it, the bombs and enemies just randomly spawning from the skies making deaths feel cheap and not at my own fault or hands, and in general i just feel like the game is tediously long and overstays its welcome. the schafrillas video on it is literally the only schafrillas video i've ever agreed with as i generally dont like his presumed 'hate because it's popular' mentality he seems to present, but really his opinions of pikmin 2 heavily reflect my own. it's a shame really :'( if they ever polished up pikmin 2 with a modern paint of coat, gave it like 3 or 4's AI mechanics and took away the enemies falling from the pearly gates to send me to hell for no reason, i think i'd have a far better time with it. just my two cents just my opinion 🫶 since i feel very isolated in feeling this way sometimes, just figured i would share.
Glad to finally find someone who agrees with me
Sounds more like a Dandori issue to me. Also, Schaffrillas' video about Pikmin 2 is objectively wrong and he does nothing but contradict himself constantly.
Pikmin 2 is the best game in the series and saying otherwise is pure lies and slander.
@@AlvinEarthworm ok
So i absolutly feel the same for this list:
1. Pikmin 2
2. Pikmin 4
3. Pikmin 1
4. Pikmin 3
A lot of Pikmin 2’s love comes from us who grew up with it. For the longest time Pikmin 1 and 2 was all us Pikmin fans had, but personally, looking back on Pikmin 2 it is probably my least favorite of the 4 even though I still love it.
This is my exact list. We think alike!!!
My personal ranking would be
1. Pikmin 4
2. Pikmin 2
3. Pikmin 3
4. Pikmin
5. Hey! Pikmin
Great list! Mine is basically the same with 4 and 2 being equal
My thing about 4 is there is so much unnecessary talking. Just on and on and on from all the crew members.
my top is
hey pikmin 5
pikmin 1 4
pikmin 2 3
pikmin 3 4
pikmin 4 1
Cement!
We have the same ranking! 😊
I personally liked hey pikmin the most
Pikmin 2 is my absolute favorite
For me it’s 4 > 3 > 1 > 2 > HeyPik
WHERE IS PIKMIN BLOOM
the original pikmin 3 was just so short and easy
great game though
It's my favorite in the series, and I really like it's difficulty balance, I don't think it's that easy tho
Pikmin 4 has gotta be #1
I am so hurt by how hard you bashed on Hey Pikmin! It's actually a good game! 😢
2, 4, 1, 3
I would disagree on Pikmin 3. Its Pikmin 1 but a thousend times better! And bingo battle is soooo fun if you have the right people to play with!
pikmin 3 is my favorite one
I agree with pikmin 2 being the best
So i absolutly feel the same for this list:
1. Pikmin 2
2. Pikmin 4
3. Pikmin 1
4. Pikmin 3
"The game is too difficult! The Purple Pikmin and Bitter Sprays make it too easy!"
How can a game be simultaneously be too difficult and too easy? Anyone who uses these arguments against Pikmin 2 clearly don't know what the fuck they're talking about! Dandori Issue! *GIT GUD!*
@@AlvinEarthworm you unironically getting upset and using this as your argument says more about you than me
@@newb_idkhes right tho, bitter sprays and purples are good... but if you waste them, you have to invest time to get more. heck, whites and spicy sprays are good too.
A few gripes I dont like about Pikmin 4 are
Pikmin 4 is the best for me.
You've convinced me. Well worded! You should do game reviews
@@TheDarkMagishun thank you! I’m glad you took some time to read my thoughts
My ranking is
4-Pikmin 4
3-Pikmin 2
2-Pikmin 1
1-Pikmin 3 Deluxe
What would you rank in terms of difficulty?!, I was disappointed at the automation Pikmin 4 demo seemed to have during core gameplay, no tension or excitement
Thankfully Pikmin 4 does pull some Pikmin 2 moments where you watch dozens of pikmin die, but it’s not as often as Pikmin 2
@clapbee5007 honestly I'd say it was an extreme rarity
I can only think of one real instance it happened to me, and it was a harder version of something that was in 2
Yikes. Severe changes in mic and audio quality and levels in this video
Make rank for every ace combat games
I almost entirely agree with this list! But I think I’d barely edge out Pikmin 3 over Pikmin 1, it’s REALLY close though
Here's my list:
6. Pikmin Bloom - mobile game :/
Still, it's definitely a great game with an important place in the series
3. Excellent game all around
1) Pikmin 3
2) Pikmin 2
3) Pikmin 1
4) Pikmin 4
5) Hey Pikmin
Pikmin 3 is my favorite because it has some of the best boss fights in the series, it has an amazing soundtrack, and the world design is beautiful.
Pikmin 4 is low on my list because it didn't bring as much new stuff to the table. More than half of its bosses were from previous games which was disappointing. The game also felt too long IMO.
Pikmin 4 is better than pikmin 2,
my ranking for worst to best pikmin games as a pikmin fan from the games birth

Hey!Pikmin is ass and a disappointment to me
Pikmin was a fucking masterpiece in Gameplay and Story.
Story was bland, though, deadass just "Get treasure"
Pikmin 3 was where I started wanting hands.
Cya
this mf spitting
funny because 4's Post-Post game actually has you killing monsters for Louie to eat
Cement.
Pikmin adventure?
