Was never fond of placing a weapon in the appendix position. Something about a loaded weapon pointing at that area filled with multiple arteries caused me serious concerns. It goes on my hip at 4 o'clock in an IWB. Winter, it's an OWB under a coat.
@@thegundungeon TGD, I appendix carry at times and never worry about an accident. My wife had both our dogs neutered. She keeps their cajones in jars on her nightstand, right next to mine ......
Back when my only pistol was my Glock 19 I IWB carried at three o’clock. Got a lot of printing so I switched to appendix carry. I never could find the comfort zone and because of my tubby belly printing was just as bad. Eventually, I acquired more pistols including a smaller lighter pistol that I like much more than the Glock and thanks to the guy whose video I just watched I IWB carry it all the time using my Vedder Lighttuck. Because of the claw and wedge on my Lighttuck I have virtually no printing and I’ve never before carried with such comfort. My belly is all but gone now, but I find, even though I’m right handed, that I like to carry around 11 o’clock and cant the holster so the firearm’s grip is nice and high and easy to grasp. I find the cross draw easier because of my stiff arthritic arms and I’ve found the motion of pulling up my shirt and drawing the pistol is easier from my left rather than my right. I often just stick a spare mag in a pocket, but eventually I will get around to getting a Vedder Magtuck. By the way, I have and use the Vedder Polymer Core Leather gun Belt and love it as as much as the Lighttuck holster.
@@thegundungeon It's not for everyone of course. I started with my Lighttuck at about 3 o'clock, but once I slid it over to about 11 o'clock I never went back.
I have never figured this out.🤦♂ When I first consider changing my EDC for whatever reason, I start with holster availability for the options I want, and I usually start with the most used holster for my current EDC. And then I notice every holster review on TH-cam and go through the best looking options. But yeah, I got that giant bin of holsters as well.👊🤣
Get some neoprene fabric. Size it larger than the area occupied by firearm and holster combined. Glue it on the back of your kydex holsters. Keeps the sweat off your rig and total comfort improvement.
I have a box full of hostler. And I carry in the same position you carry IWB, but I have some holsters for cross draw osw. That I carry with. That work will and are comfortable.
@thegundungeon I carry my 357 ruger sp 101 with a three inch barrel. In a cross draw holster . The holster is made by craftholsters. I mostly carry it for backup. But it is easier to reach when sitting down or driving. Give it a try. Work for me.
@@TimDavis-wc7rc I’ve been contemplating cross draw for woods carry when hunting cause I carry my rifle over my right shoulder and the buttock smacks off whatever is on my belt strong side lol
@thegundungeon my setup is a 45 shield at around 4 right side. My ruger is on my left at around 11 o'clock. My shirt covers everything, and it doesn't print. Only problem I had was the cross draw would pinch me when I bent over some. So I put mink oil on it and put it in the oven at 150 for 15 minutes to soft it up. Make sure you preheat your oven then use a cookie sheet to put your hostler on then turn off your over and let it sit in that heat for 15 minutes. I did mine like this twice two soften it up but only oiled it once.
Summer carry is always an issue. You can literally carry a mossberg shockwave concealed under a winter jacket much less the g17 or similar size gun most of us are carrying in winter. Anyway, that is why i am sad to see the original version of the s&w bodyguard 380 be replaced with this new higher round count version, it just won't conceal like the old one.
Appendix is more accessible when seated over 4 o'clock but risks flopping out over the belt and forget about running with it. Who needs access to 4 when you have chestrig, console and visor guns 🤣🤣
@@LogisticallyMisrepresented Who doesn't use a retention holster? If you've ever carried IWB you would know that subcompacts and micros like the P365 with shorter barrel lengths do not have sufficient slide length to create fulcrum leverage and heavier nose weight that will prevent the firearm from flipping over the belt. Additionally, the shorter firearm has the majority of it's weight (1/2 the slide and loaded magazine) above the belt line which worsens its tendency to topple over with abdomen carry when the torso is leaning forward.

Save appendix carry for when we are forced to become like the french resistance against some crazy 'occupation'...then the risk would make sense.
Firearm might spontaneously go off.?!
