RayBan Meta Wayfarers - Lens Replacement!

  • How I replaced the lenses on my RayBan Meta Wayfarers.
I got the grey transition lenses with my RayBan Meta glasses, but was very disappointed with how dark (or rather, not dark) they get in the sun. I've not had transitions before, so that was my mistake. I had been keen to get the transitions so I could use the glasses inside and at night, but I decided to get some proper sunglass lenses, at least for the summer.
I searched online and found lensology.co.uk mentioned a few times on reddit. I saw they did delivery worldwide for a reasonable price, and decided to go for it. I emailed them (the website seemed to suggest I had to send them my frames and I wasn't up for that) to discuss what they had available and what they could do to help me and they were super fast to support me and help me out. I was actually really impressed with how helpful they were!
I decided to order a couple of different colours (mirror blue and mirror violet) to see which I liked best and give myself options. I got the fast shipping and they were sent from the UK 1 day after I ordered them and arrived to me in Germany the next morning.
It was a bit nerve-wracking changing the lenses as the glasses weren't cheap, but it was all good in the end. You can see in the video how getting them in the first time took a few tries, but the second pair were way easier. I've swapped them another 2 times and it's really quick and easy now.
I'm really happy with how the glasses look now, and for driving and generally being out in the sun (i.e. for actual sunglasses stuff) they are way way better than they were with the transitions. I also like that they’re fairly unique now with the coloured lenses. Maybe I'll change back to the transitions in the winter time, we'll see. Either way, it's nice to have options!
Sorry that sometimes you don’t see exactly what I’m doing. I don’t have a real setup for making videos and this was all just filmed on my phone. It was also fun learning the basics of how to use Davinci Resolve to put the video together!
The videos I watched to prepare myself to swap out the lenses.

Thanks for a great video. 🙂I was about to purchase the same glasses with the same transition lenses you have, transparent to grey, but those lenses are not in stock here in Italy where I live, so I was trying to see if I could buy them somewhere else in Europe, but it's been such a hassle. Now I think I might just get the transparent ones, and then order some dark lenses too, if it's apparently easy to change them once you get a hang of it as you video shows. Based on your description, the grey transition lenses don't seem to be enough to use as sunglasses.
I did hear though from a sales assistant that the warranty will be cancelled if you change the lenses with some that aren't from Ray-Ban or not done by an authorised reseller... Don't know.
