These glasses are very useful and cool! I have a pair and plan on getting another pair. I mainly use them for the speakers. People around you won't even know you're listening to music. I work in a manufacturing plant and do home improvements on the side. A major plus is in a very noisy environment with earplugs in you can still hear them perfectly.
yeah that’s one of my favourite parts of these, i work checkout at a grocery store and these are the only way i can have a podcast or some background music playing

Great video about the Meta Ray Bans smart glasses. I've been using mine for a month. Love it too, but it's still not as smart yet. LOL! I live in the US but unfortunately, access to the multimodal AI features beta version has been closed to only a limited number of users. Anyway, thanks for sharing your review.

Absolutely, deeper system integration with Meta’s AI would be fantastic. Apple’s locked down system might make it a bit difficult on iOS, they’d probably have to build the functionality into the Meta View app and have it sync to other apps where possible (eg. Meta View calendar syncs to iCal).
i agree so much on adding a second camera, they could add so many differnt functions for those
hell, even one positioned horizontally and one positioned vertically to allow you to set the orientation would be really nice

I hate how we get ripped off here in Australia hey. Great seeing an Aussie reviewing these mate! Nice! As ya can see from my pic. I have the ray-ban wayfarer normal sunnies on. But I can’t use them all the time cos I wear prescription. I love tech so when I seen these I had to find out more about them! I think they are still out of stock! Harder to find my sizing also. Not sure, never have needed prescriptions myself. If you’re in the US (and likely other countries), I’ve heard people on the Rayban Stories subreddit mention eyewear stores as a way to get them with prescriptions.

Thanks for the vid! When you say activate a vpn and restart the app, what screen do you stay in to get the prompt for AI features? Do you need to be in a specific tab? Trying to do it but nothing is popping up.
It should just prompt you to enable it, but I have also noticed that the recent v2.0 update that just got pushed was starting to restrict AI features better, might not work anymore.
Time can't seem to move any slower for me who lay waiting with enormous anticipation for my Wayfarer's arrival to my selected optometry prescription eyeglasses retail store for my p/u! 😊
Been there, I was very disappointed after visiting 4 physical stores and not being able to find the transition lenses knowing I’d have to wait for delivery

@@danielBrown-fs7xq You can order them with prescriptions in the Ray-Ban website, and I believe some physical locations allow you to get prescriptions as well but I’m not 100% sure.

Tried using a VPN to get access to the AI no luck
Do you have to be in a certain city in the US?
Is it a menu option that needs to be selected?
Not sure about that one. I didn’t have any specific settings on, just opened the app a couple times with the VPN on. If you’re talking about the multimodal AI, you’ll have a much harder time for that one. It’s still early access.

At the moment all the Hey Meta does is take photos tell me the weather but can't ask it basic questions I'll have another go at VPN in the US
And I imagine they've shut the door on that too

1. If glasses are not comfortable: Don't wear them. You should not 'get used to it'. Even if it was that expensive
2. The glasses look very reflective
it’s not really that they’re not comfortable, more just the extra weight can definitely make itself known after a few hours with them on. i’ve seen people on the ray-ban stories subreddit say that they’ve had luck getting them adjusted but the problem just disappeared for me personally. they do look very reflective on camera, i’m assuming because of the transition lenses? they don’t look reflective at all when you’re wearing them

Good review. A step in the right direction for smart glasses, but not enough to make me interested even if they hadn't been tied to Meta (a company I actively avoid, but I know I'm in the minority on that score). The speakers seem OK, but I would want some heads up display functionality (and more of a phone connection because I don't like talking to tech when I'm out and about, but again, that's just a personal preference).
As far as I can tell the glass isn't polarized which is also a shame, but being able to get prescription lenses is great!
The transition lens isn’t polarised, but polarised lens are available. A HUD would’ve made this even cooler and I would love to see something like that in a future generation. It is still a shame it’s tied to Meta, but really any company with the money to make this happen isn’t going to be great with data unfortunately.

Did you say you got Standard or Large size??? It sounded like you said standard large, so was confuses as the website says “Standard” or “Large” trying to decide on size
When I purchased, the standard size was "Large", with the other size being "XL". I bought the Large size.

Seems as though there were a lot of blurry things in the FOV
yeah my shooting schedule is very tight, i could have a spare 20-30 minutes to shoot and that’s all i’ll have for the next month and just forgot to take a few things out of shot, sorry about that 🙏
I bought 2 of them and one of them had a quality problem. The metadid not deal with my problem and was very disappored
Do they solve any of the legal/privacy issues that killed Google Glass? The 'record light' has already been partially bypassed. This is Glasshole Mk2.
As far as I can tell from a quick search, the Google Glass didn’t have any form of recording indicator aside from the screen being on, which is probably the main thing that these fix in terms of privacy. I did see posts about people partially covering the light with tape after uploading this, and I would love to see Meta improve the cover detection in later generations.
I don’t think (or i at least hope not considering i wear these daily) these would be the Glasshole thing all over again mainly because of how much they just look like glasses. Google Glass was unmistakably Google Glass, but these just look like glasses at first glance.
My biggest concern is privacy. Would've loved little magnetic covers for the lenses when you're in private spaces or you don't want people to feel uncomfortable
Then you should throw away your phone...cause its worse on there!!
Something like those webcam covers that some Lenovo laptops have where there's a switch that physically covers the camera would be a great addition.

So theres no tech in the lenses themselves? As in, I cant get google maps to display directions on an overlay, weather notifications etc? Its just a camera with an AI assistant on your face?
Yeah, nothing like Google Glass or the Xreal glasses (yet). But nothing’s stopping you from starting navigation on your phone and using the glasses for audio. Doing that with the Apple Watch for walking directions makes me feel like I’m straight out of Night City.
Unfortunately that kinda tech won’t be around for 10+ years or more. There is no way to be able to get the glasses lens to show that stuff without the lenses being huge thick led screens on ya face 😵💫 would be cool though hey.
I thoroughly understand the frustrations some of you non Americans Ray Ban Meta smartglasses wearers may enter while operating the glasses features... After all, I'm from NJ.

yeah that would be very nice, i’m not a huge fan of meta but i do have to give them credit for some excellent hardware, mainly these and the quest 3

Video should be horizontal 4K.
Even a 4:3 or similar ratio, to make it easy to crop into vertical or horizontal. I think 1080 is fine for this use case, but vertical only is really annoying. 60FPS would be a nicer improvement over 4K for me personally.

There is a light that informs you the camera is in use hope that helps with your insecurities

I meant it more like "hey lets have glasses with video output and video capture so we can get into the fun of doing AR without holding up a phone or wearing a VR Headset.
Xreal Air Ultra are the best example of where in my opinion the journey has to go.

@@hadesbutyoutube As far as I know it, they wont. When it failed back in 2013 they made it exclusive to companies and the only once you can get are for company use and overly expensive unfortunately
