I have been using transition lenses for about 38 years , after one of my early optometrists recommended them for me. In all honesty I don't know which type they were but I have never ever regretted having transitions for the benefits they have. I would certainly recommend transition lens to anyone
This is exactly what I was looking for. I had had transitions before, but when I went to order new ones there were so many options. This went though all of the options perfectly and told me exactly what I needed to know. Thank you sm!!
I have the Gen 8 in purple. When I got them I was surprised that the purple color in the sun wasn’t as dark as expected. It is more of a gray with a purple undertone but I still love them.
Hi Dr. Allan. I enjoyed watching this video in particular because, as an Optician, I dispense Transitions 8 lenses. Greater than 50% of all orders include Transitions. I am also a Certified Specialist. While there are many outstanding attributes, I find there are instances where they don't darken enough to MY satisfaction, and I own every variety. However, those who try them for the first time are always satisfied and repeat customers wouldn't wear anything else.
I'm comparing ZEISS PhotoFusion X with the Transition Gen 8. I've noticed the same thing as you, i.e., the latter won't darken enough under the hot sun. Not sure why though.
hey so as someone who struggles with even looking forward under the sun, would you recommend the Xtra active polarized or just the Xtra active lenses cuz I’m also sensitive to places with a lot of light bulbs like the airport and at times but not frequently, I might even be tearing up
@@DoctorEyeHealth would you recommend I just go and look for a pair of very dark sunglasses lenses cuz I am very disturbed by the sun, I always walk face down, get headaches and also I ain’t fully comfortable when indoors with a lot of light. @coldlarva7819 Same questions HERE. I hope you get a reply. My eyes are also VERY light sensitive. I get migraines. Even driving with the sun through windshield causes headaches. So I ordered the xtra active lenses with scratch coating TWICE and BOTH Atimes my glasses had SEVERE scratches. So this last time I went to the eye doctor told optometrist I want this technology that darken BEHIND windshield but needed GLASS lenses. She told me those glass lenses in this technology would only be available in brown or grey. We'll I've done research and it appears the transitions ONLY come in PLASTIC! I have NOT received them yet but they are paid for. So now what do I do?
Thanks so very much. You saved my behind. It’s been years since I’ve needed new glasses. As a dentist I wear “sports goggles” as they are the best for my level of activity. Don’t fall off whether I’m over a car hood changing a compressor or treating a little kid. Found what I wanted on line. Exact replacement for what I have now. Needed progressives with Transitions like my old pair. Holy cow, half of what I paid 5 years ago. UNTIL I realized that they weren’t changing in my car. Darn the in house company no longer offers transitions (merely generic photochromatic).. After watching your video, I realized I had XTRActive Transitions in my old glasses. Got really dark, slight tint indoors, worked in my car etc. I was able to go back to the local shop and have them custom make exactly what I wanted. All because of the information I got from your video. So thanks you once again. And oh yeah. You get what you pay for. Priceless info!
Thank you! This video was tremendously helpful. I am looking at these glasses for my daughter, who is in remission from Burkitt-type non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. She is 16, and about to get her learner's permit, so will be driving soon. She really hates the color distortion on the Blokz blue light filtering lenses, so I think she would prefer the Gen 8, because they are perfectly clear indoors. However, I don't know what she's just going to have to get used to, now that she has to really be careful to protect herself following her short but extremely intense cancer treatment this past summer. What lenses would you say offer the maximum protection? Should we just get her a spare pair of polarized prescription sunglasses for when she drives?
Thanks for sharing this and I wish your daughter the best. A transitions gen 8 May be the best for normal glasses wear but while driving the car, they won’t activate. So consider getting either a clip on pair of sunglasses or a dedicated sunglasses pair. Hope that helps.
I had no idea there were so many! I have polaroids and it's made a significant difference. Mine can get dark indoors and also on a dull day outside which helps as I am quite sensitive to some indoor lights too.

Good summary - thanks. I find that Serengeti photochromic lenses are even darker (if a little slower). I used to have G15 Ray-Ban but Serengeti 555nm lenses are green (and change colour filtering as they get darker). I love the restful feeling when I put the Sedonna (magenta/rose). Plus I have wraparound frames. Only problem is that the cost of prescription lenses 😮 so I also have Transitions gen 8 signature and Drivewear in my glasses. I use contacts and can use the Serengeti. I was a UK driving instructor and on a wet, slightly foggy day made one student try my Serengeti glasses. He said "these are better than my eyes!" 😃He was so amazed at the extra visibility from the blue light reduction.

I’ve worn transitions since the 90s, big fan obviously. One downside you didn’t mention about drivewear is that they make it hard to see screens, which is an issue if you use phone or GPS to navigate! Also, the I got a pair of the “blue” lenses, and I thought they’d made a mistake and given me gray ones for the last couple years until I by compared them side by side with my old glasses. The blue is very subtle.
I was having a right eye sight is given -3.5 and 20/250 they given. And left eye sight is 0 and 20/20. Is my right eye can be corrected by lasik treatment
Thanks for the in depth look at what these lenses are. I"ve had Transition lenses for years and the new ones ( Gen 8) are way better. Not perfect, but very good. Can't wait to see what they do in the next few years.
How well do these lenses transition for those of us with higher (-12 or more) prescriptions? In the past, they were useless in sunny, cold weather as the transition back to clear would take 25-30 minutes.
Hi doctor. I got ICL surgery done 3 months ago and now i have floaters and i also have refractive error again. I got checked and have a spherical and a cylindrical power . Will my floaters go away if i get corrective surgery to fix the refractive error?
Xtraxctive is my favorite. I've had transitions ever since I started wearing glasses. The xtractive ate great while indoors with bright light especially working on a computer all day on my light-sensitive eyes.
I think they put gen 8 for me recently and it barely gets dark . So I am going to have them change it. I have glaucoma and very sensitive. I was wondering which one to get for driving
I read online that all transitions lenses can accept all available coatings. Since you review transitions I’m hoping you know if you can tell me. Can you add a polarization coating to the non- polarized Xtra actives?
But.... do drivewear work well at night? And are any better for astigmatism? I am trying to find a singular transition glasses for keeping in the car for driving but it doesn't sound like the drivewear may be the best at night. Thoughts?
This is completely anecdotal and should not be taken as fact, definitely consult with a professional. That being said, I've been using drivewear for the past couple of years and have never had any issues at night (outside of maybe a complete blackout scenario). I only ever really take them off to shower and sleep. I'm not sure about them being 'better' for astigmatism but that's what I have and the last time I did my regular checkup test my Optom said there was very little change in my prescription after using them for a couple of years. So she recommended continuing with them. Now of course there are likely many other factors in play but just thought I'd give my experience. It could very well be that when I first got them the consensus wasn't out as yet and going forward I may have to switch to one of these newer ones. A professional's input based on your specific case and needs is best.
I have been wearing progressive bifocals for 5 years. Visionworks always tells me I cannot get transitions because my Rx is too strong. Is that even a thing, or should I try getting glasses online or from a different optical place?
The only issue I've had with patients is that the Transition Mirrors is that they will hold their color even with they are clear. For example, if you get the blue mirror Transition, you'll always have a blue hue to the lens.
@DoctorEyeHealth, nice info. What can you say about the new Transitions Style Mirror? Is is useful indoors without so much reflection at the back of the lenses?
Both colors block the same amount of light. The difference is perception. Most people perceive black/gray to be darker vs. graphite green. Transitions indicate that xtractive are their darkest. The benefit of graphite green is color perception, important for photographers and pilots.
The first tip I would have for anyone looking for Translations lenses is first look at Sunglasses that might be displayed with the frames. Not that you are going to buy them but instead to see a few sunglass styles that work for you. Next look at the frames available for eyeglasses that are close to the sunglass styles you like. Often times sunglass frames are available in an eyeglass frame as well. When you try them on as eyeglasses you can see if you would also like them clear. Doing this will give you glasses that look natural when they are outdoors but that you also like the look of when it’s indoors. Why a lot of people don’t like transitions lenses is they picked frames that would never look like sunglasses and it just looks wrong when they are outside.
Hi Doctor eye health i would like to ask what kind of eyeglasses that you recommended to me because i have a problem about lighting and i was working in warehouse they said transition eyeglasses is not working in indoor and i need darker eyeglasses because i’m driving forklift machine thank you.
I have both Zeiss Photofusion X / Extra Gray paired with 25% tint as an add on. They fade back faster than the Transitions brand. I do have the Transitions Gen 8 in green + red mirror and Xtractive Gray with 30% blue tint as well.
I have seen some like this!!! But they were a bit spendy and I wasn't sold on the quality. But I will see what I can find and maybe do a review of those too.
So I currently have Transitions xtra active. Love them. I wasn’t offered polarized when ordering my new glasses. When I asked why, I was told that they don’t recommend them because of not cutting glare well and not getting as dark which you mentioned. From trying them, do you think the xtra active polarized would be a suitable option for polarized fishing glasses and not having to buy 2 pair?
I purchased a pair of transition lense glasses at Warby Parker but they didn't tell me which of the 4 you mention they are, how can I find out, do they sell the basic? I'm finding that my glasses don't get nearly dark enough outside or when I'm driving, I'm having to squint while wearing them, which is frustrating. Unfortunately, I can't return them now because it's past the return/warranty.
Sorry to hear that they are not dark enough in the car (common issue with some photochromic lenses). I just checked Warby Parker and it looks like they have their own brand of photochromic lenses and they are not the "transitions" brand. So they may not work in the car the way Xtractive ones work, maybe clip on sunglasses?
@DoctorEyeHealth Thank you for your reply and looking into Warby's lenses, I really appreciate it! It's funny because they told me that they were Transitions. Anyway, I will either try clip ons or look into getting Wayfarer Ray Ban sunglasses at a retailer.
I have had versions of these kinds of lenses over the years but never felt happy with them. I find they never get dark enough for me like sunglasses do. I do like very dark sunglasses.
Glad it was helpful! I know I really like my green colored XtraActive ones for my light sensitivity. Otherwise, have you tried Avalux or FL-41 lenses for migraines?
not related I just got my glasses few days ago but I noticed that the other lens is more yellowish/ tinted than the other one... I know that the usual blue light coating would make the lenses a little yellowish, but why they're not equal??.. is it normal? 😅😅btw it's my first time to have this type of coating (just want to try🤣)
Dr. Allen. I would love your insight on my specific case of eye floaters. I have watched your videos on floaters and would love to hear your thoughts. I have constant eye floaters all across my field of vision. They never go away and I notice them in basically every setting 24/7. I do not experience flashes of light or the "curtain" effect you talk about in this video. I feel like you can give me good insight because like you, my eye floaters developed in my early 20's sometime around early 2020 at the age of 24. I remember looking into the sky and noticing a small floater. Around the time that my floaters developed, I was also dealing with what seemed like a constant headache. Eventually the headache went away, but the floaters - with what began as one small floater to being across my entire field of vision in months - remained and are still bothering me. I also see small little sparks of light (almost like fireflies that are most noticeable when I look at the sky). Every now and then I'll see random flashes either white dots/sparks as well as black/brown dots. Trying to figure out what is going on and why I went from zero floaters to a field of vision full of lasting, constant floaters within months. Any insight will help. Thanks.
Hi, I’m 57 and have had floaters in both eyes since a teenager. Most noticeable in bright light and I’ve just accepted them. A week ago in my right eye I started getting flashes of light and then a few more much more prominent floaters with a headache that lasted for a few days. I phoned my GP but they suggested going to the optician. The optician examined my eyes and said I have posterior vitreous detachment (PVD). Fortunately I don’t have a retinal tear or retinal detachment which gives the curtain in your vision or showers of floaters and is more serious. The vitreous in the eye shrinks back with age and leaves the back of the eye causing flashes and floaters in some people. It was scary but the flashes stopped after 3 days for me but I am left with very visible floaters in my right eye which I’m told may improve. I’m short sighted and wear contacts (although currently planning to get transitions in Oakley’s too hence being here). Apparently PVD is more commonly in short sighted people like me.
Hi Dr, I had my Lasik about 4 days ago. No dryness, nothing before hand. I went to my one day POST-OP and they told me that I have SPK on my left eye from dryness. How often does this occur and do you ever see it on Lasik patients? My Dr told me to keep using the lube drop's and it should heal up. What would be your opinion?
I have a gray Xtractive with 30% blue tint on it. Great for sunny days. Another pair that I have is an Xtractive gray with green mirror. But they aren't polarized. Transitions Xtractive is not offered in green polarized, are they?
Transitions Vantage are the most comfortable from indoors to outdoors and back. They don't make them anymore; but, the reddish/violet tint also seems to lessen the possibility of headaches from light sensitivity. Virtually clear inside. The transition to darker is magically unnoticeable (you will have to take them off to verify that they did indeed get darker). They don't change much at all in the car, and the variable polarization is minimal; but, all around comfort in all light conditions makes for a pleasant day, go-to pair. Essilor really should reconsider and bring them back.
Would the driving glasses make good dedicated sunglasses?? I already have the extra active lens but like my rx sunglasses for driving and stuff..they seem to work better for me..
I use prescription sunglasses all the time when I’m not home so I want some that stay dark the most lol I’m self conscious about one of my eyes so the darker the better.
hi, doc. I was wandering in my left eye I see things cooler much more warm/vivid and in my right eye, it is more cold and detached. my eye doctor says it ok because seeing in both eyes makes a balance. I was wondering if is it possible and what will be the effect to make eyeglasses in contra colors for each eye different colors. my right eye is the higher prescription I am left-handed and it is the most uncomfortable eye even my eye doctor says my eye is okay.
Dr. Allen...this has nothing to do with eyes but I wanna know what your hair routine/products are. I have really similar wavy/curly hair but struggle to find what to put in it to style it in a natural way. Do you just use a leave-in conditioner to get it to lay that way? Also your channel has been awesome and I've started taking better care of my eyes since finding it!
@@DoctorEyeHealthUrgent question here. As you are an eye doctor. Please let me know BEFORE I pick up my eyeglasses this week if there are GLASS lenses that darken behind the windshield. My optometrist knows I need the ones that darken behind the windshield. My last and CURRENT transitions xtra active PLASTIC lenses are terrible despite getting the scratch coating on them. So she wrote on my sales paper I was getting xtra active in GLASS but I've done more research and it says these are NOT available in GLASS. So are there GLASS lenses that darken behind the windshield?
I’m going to try some. I ordered a pair of glasses with zeiss photofusion sapphire blue and they suck. Does not get dark at all. More like John Lennon type pothead lightly tinted. They were also my first pair of progressives and I hate that. Can’t adjust to them and don’t really need it anyway. Going to switch back to single vision with extractive.
Can you comment on Gen 8 G15 green vs Gen 8 grey? These are the two transition colors available for the Ray Ban Meta smart glasses. I think the grey are only available directly from Ray Ban where the G15 are more widely available so only the G15 can be found in stores.
Has anyone out there used these lenses while playing golf? I have to get prescription glasses, including sunglasses, and wonder if Transitions lenses would be good for golf or a pain in the rear
Looks like none of these incluidng the gen 8 go properly clear they all seem to have a fair bit of residual tint, Zeiss photofusion X is better in that respect goes totally clear and also seems to be quicker getting dark and then clear again. I think they have nicer colours too e.g. their blue really is nice vivid blue whereas transitions is more of a grey than a blue. Saying that I don't think any of these transitions style lenses get properly dark under normal use. I've only seen my Photofusion X go properly dark when held under a UV test lamp and not out in the real world!
You’ve earned a sub my brother in sight! Please answer why my local OPTX rep is trying to tell me the transitions xtractive polarized is always at a 10% tint while indoors. I watched your videos and can’t see that being true. Is zeuis xtractive transition polarized different somehow? I saw in other videos it is completely clear as well.
My mum had transistions but they did seem a bit too dark in light conditions and it made her unable to see enough and this caused a fall in the garden.
I just updated my prescription for this year and I am going with transition extra active new generation and they have it available to add generation extra active polarization which I also have in my prescription glasses as well as the new generation extra active lenses and varilux comfort which is another way of bifocal lens in a progressive
Can somebody explain me what is the problem with me ! When i scroll on my phone fast for e.g ( on instagram scrolling all the people whos seen my story) I can’t focus on anything it’s unexplainable and also when i am travelling and the vehicle is going fast, its like i am on whole another plain ! It seems like its affecting my consciousnesses! Also, if an object is close to me and i want to look through it or from the side to another object far away i just can’t do it its really hard to focus on the further object and seems like i am lost!
XTRActive Grey with Fire Red Mirror Coating Pros + All visible light wavelengths activate the XTRAactive vs. UV activates the Transitions Gen8 + Great for outdoor sports and driving, use them everyday for walking and running outside + Become much darker than Transitions Gen8, even more so when below 70 F outside + Better than Transitions Gen8 for outdoor activities and driving + Quick to darken and lighten, still work great after 1 year of daily use Cons - Prefer not to use indoors, too much light attenuation and too many internal reflections from indoor light sources - Try not to use these outside at night because of internal reflections from vehicle lights, street lights, etc. - Still usable after dusk, but prefer to wear Transitions Gen 8 or non-Transitions lenses
I wear powered glasses. So my question is normal glasses or powered glasses protect eyes from sunlight or not. Can you please answer this or if you make full video on this also helps me. 🙏🙏🙏❤
Could you do a video on blue LENS sunglasses (not blue light blocking)? Are sunglasses with a basic blue tinted lens worse for sensitive eyes? Or fine?
I am planning to buy xtractive polarised. My priority is that the lens should get sufficiently darken in the car. Should i go ahead with xtractive polarised?. Or i stick to xtractive only?
I always put on sunglasses before walking outside. If I could have the all-in-one (Transitions) glasses but with an on/off button for the tint instead, I’d buy a pair today.
Pah, None of these help me as a School Bus driver lol.. I have to be able to go from dark sunglasses (for that morning and afternoon sun in my face) to clear - to see what I am doing inside the bus or to either side of the bus. What I do now is fit over sun glasses that I lift up and down as needed.. What I want is a tap of a button to turn the glasses dark and tap again to instantly make them clear again. I do think this is possible with LCD type technology, but no one has implemented it into a wearable glasses format. Someone get on that.. drivers that wear glasses need good solutions. Flip up sunglasses just plain suck and break too quickly. Fit over sunglasses is the current best solution(for me), but that is a whole 2nd pair of glasses you have to keep track of. Having dedicated prescription sunglass is only good if you are not needing to go from dark to clear quickly and multiple times in short periods of time.
Hi doctor...( question)two optometrist tell me that they can't give me a new prescription because the cataracts are "blocking " the machine and can't read my eye ...is that true? Thank you very much.
Do transition lenses actually darken for the wearer as if you’re wearing sunglasses? I had transition contact lenses and they got dark but did not change what you saw and definitely did not replace sunglasses.
Good day Sir, I hope you are doing great❤ Sir, Is it good for a glaucoma suspect to be eating beans (cowpea)?, because I like beans and it is source of plant protein. Thanks. Have a great day❤
I have always found that they transition back to clear way too slow if you are someone like a contractor that goes out to cut something then has to go back inside frequently.

What frame is the Drivewear one, i like it?
Gen 8 + Drivewear = perfection
I have been wearing progressive bifocals for 5 years. Visionworks always tells me I cannot get transitions because my Rx is too strong. Is that even a thing, or should I try getting glasses online or from a different optical place?
The only issue I've had with patients is that the Transition Mirrors is that they will hold their color even with they are clear. For example, if you get the blue mirror Transition, you'll always have a blue hue to the lens.
@DoctorEyeHealth, nice info. What can you say about the new Transitions Style Mirror? Is is useful indoors without so much reflection at the back of the lenses?
When comparing the Xtractive gray lenses vs the graphite green lenses, can you tell me which lens gets darker or blocks the most light?
Or: Simply ask the employee to remove the lenses to see how the frame would look with clear lenses :)
What color transitions do you recomend?
Thanks to the comparison between XTRActive and XTRActive polarised.
Thank you for the break down this has made my next purchase allot more informed.
Glad it was helpful! I know they are not for everyone but they are some pretty cool technology
What did you end up choosing
Transitions finally arrived here in India. I’m going to give them a try. Thanks, Dr. Allen, for this explainer! 🙌🙏
Wonderful! Great to know! It amazes me to hear how different lenses/ glasses/ and eye care varies throughout the world.
Hi Doctor eye health i would like to ask what kind of eyeglasses that you recommended to me because i have a problem about lighting and i was working in warehouse they said transition eyeglasses is not working in indoor and i need darker eyeglasses because i’m driving forklift machine thank you.
❓️❓️❓️What frame is that with the driving lenses in in them? Love, would like some!!
I have both Zeiss Photofusion X / Extra Gray paired with 25% tint as an add on. They fade back faster than the Transitions brand. I do have the Transitions Gen 8 in green + red mirror and Xtractive Gray with 30% blue tint as well.
I gave up looking at zeiss photofusion because they don't work in the car and lack polarization options
@@whodat9198 what do you use now?
@@bjcruz Xtractive polarized
@@whodat9198 I would have gotten that if they have it in green.
@bjcruz yup I hear ya. Apparently they stopped doing graphite green in trivex. I was a sad 🐼....
They need to make “smart” len’s that are powered thru the frames to transition right away and switch to whatever color you choose.
I have seen some like this!!! But they were a bit spendy and I wasn't sold on the quality. But I will see what I can find and maybe do a review of those too.
@@DoctorEyeHealthwould love to see. Thank you.
Hello Doctor, I would like to ask you if anxiety or stress can cause dry eye! Thank you for your professionalism
I have learned a lot listening to you as I am ordering my glasses online
I still prefer dark sunglasses for the same reasons - That is also why I prefer the Xtractives myself.
Thank you that was very helpful. I get migraines, and this made it clear which one I should get 😊
Glad it was helpful! I know I really like my green colored XtraActive ones for my light sensitivity. Otherwise, have you tried Avalux or FL-41 lenses for migraines?
Which choice was it
@@DoctorEyeHealthDo the 2 other mentioned lenses here darken behind the windshield? Also do they come in GLASS options?
not related
I just got my glasses few days ago but I noticed that the other lens is more yellowish/ tinted than the other one...
I don’t see the transitions mirror being offered anymore
I have a gray Xtractive with 30% blue tint on it. Great for sunny days. Another pair that I have is an Xtractive gray with green mirror. But they aren't polarized. Transitions Xtractive is not offered in green polarized, are they?
Hi..do you have any problems with the mirror effect when are you inside?I read about some reflex
@@tiziwind I notice them more with the green and silver mirrors. Less with the blue, red and gold
Great video. For the generation 8’s, what frame is that you’re wearing? Anybody have an idea? Appreciate it.

Dr. Allen, How about incorrporating technology like "Tile" to find these expensive sunglasses if you misplace them?
hi, doc. I was wandering in my left eye I see things cooler much more warm/vivid and in my right eye, it is more cold and detached. my eye doctor says it ok because seeing in both eyes makes a balance. I was wondering if is it possible and what will be the effect to make eyeglasses in contra colors for each eye different colors. my right eye is the higher prescription I am left-handed and it is the most uncomfortable eye even my eye doctor says my eye is okay.
i ment like to make one side a cols cooler and the other warmer so there a cooler for each side that is against the eye different color percepion
Dr. Allen...this has nothing to do with eyes but I wanna know what your hair routine/products are. I have really similar wavy/curly hair but struggle to find what to put in it to style it in a natural way. Do you just use a leave-in conditioner to get it to lay that way? Also your channel has been awesome and I've started taking better care of my eyes since finding it!
what color lenses are you using in gen 8?
About to try the Drivewear lenses. Hope I actually like them
I know I love my pair - but I use them as like a pair of sunglasses most of the time. Cheers
@@DoctorEyeHealth Sweet! I bought them online with cheap frames, but it was still pricey. Hope they last!
Could you recommend some sunglasses photochromic lenses?
Is there some alternative to Zeiss adaptive sun?
Can you make a review on Fancydrops? I’m not fully understanding the concept or the safety of the product eye drop color change

Thank you! Haha
I know, right?! He’s the best of both worlds! 🤭

What frame is used with the xtractive lens??
What's the model name for the " Transition Xtractive" U wore in this vid
Wow! What a great video. Told me everything I was wondering about. Thank you!!!
Best review of all time!! Thank you
I have the square ones (Drivewear)from Zenni optical.
That's right! Zenni now carries Transitions lenses! I think Glasses USA has unique colors you can only get from them too
Looks like none of these incluidng the gen 8 go properly clear they all seem to have a fair bit of residual tint, Zeiss photofusion X is better in that respect goes totally clear and also seems to be quicker getting dark and then clear again.
Thanks for sharing! I would really love to test out other brands of photochromics.
I have the the oasys transitions eye contacts not as dark as I wanted to be is there any darker ones?
Sadly, those contact lenses did not sell as well as they had hoped and so I don't think they will be expanding the selection.
There is a new transition gen s? It is after the Gen 8 and is just coming out this month. Can you talk about that, too?
Yes! I will be getting some this next week so I can start testing them out!
@@DoctorEyeHealthThanks!
My mum had transistions but they did seem a bit too dark in light conditions and it made her unable to see enough and this caused a fall in the garden.
Can you please compare the different transition lens manufacturers like Zeis and Hoya ?
What brand of transition lens do the new META Ray-Ban smart classes use?
Checking out the website / order page - it looks like it will probably be the classic gen 8 lenses in several color options.
Just bought my first pair of Transitions (gen8). I have no idea if I'm going to like them...or hate them...lol >.
Great vid Dr! Can you tell me the name of the glasses frame for the Generation 8? Really digging the style of those ones

I just updated my prescription for this year and I am going with transition extra active new generation and they have it available to add generation extra active polarization which I also have in my prescription glasses as well as the new generation extra active lenses and varilux comfort which is another way of bifocal lens in a progressive
Do transistion lenses darken when welding with a welding helmet on?
They shouldn't, it depends on the lens shade of the visor but most have full UV protection.
I was told all photochromic block blue rays. Is this wrong?
First time trying glasses + gen S. Hope they work for me.
Can somebody explain me what is the problem with me !
When i scroll on my phone fast for e.g ( on instagram scrolling all the people whos seen my story)
I can’t focus on anything it’s unexplainable and also when i am travelling and the vehicle is going fast, its like i am on whole another plain ! It seems like its affecting my consciousnesses!
Also, if an object is close to me and i want to look through it or from the side to another object far away i just can’t do it its really hard to focus on the further object and seems like i am lost!
Do you have a preference between eyezen and zeiss?
XTRActive Grey with Fire Red Mirror Coating
Pros
+ All visible light wavelengths activate the XTRAactive vs. UV activates the Transitions Gen8
+ Great for outdoor sports and driving, use them everyday for walking and running outside
+ Become much darker than Transitions Gen8, even more so when below 70 F outside
+ Better than Transitions Gen8 for outdoor activities and driving
+ Quick to darken and lighten, still work great after 1 year of daily use
Cons
- Prefer not to use indoors, too much light attenuation and too many internal reflections from indoor light sources
- Try not to use these outside at night because of internal reflections from vehicle lights, street lights, etc.
- Still usable after dusk, but prefer to wear Transitions Gen 8 or non-Transitions lenses
I love how every shape of glasses suit him
How long do these type of transition lenses last till they stay dark all the time?
The old tech used to wear off after 2 years, but the new tech uses nanotechnology and lasts for at least 5 years before it’s starts to wear off
@@DoctorEyeHealth well, that's really good to hear!
Or fine?
could you share the brands of these glasses ?
Can you do a video about Demodex blepharitis (DB)? There isn’t a lot of content out there now but it’s super common and option for treating are few
I am planning to buy xtractive polarised. My priority is that the lens should get sufficiently darken in the car. Should i go ahead with xtractive polarised?. Or i stick to xtractive only?
I’m trying to decide that too! What did you end up with and how does it work?
What did you end up deciding?
I am using xtraactive polarised. These are good
I always put on sunglasses before walking outside.
Thank you very much.
try a third optometrist with good ratings, and if they say the same thing, then you know it's not bullshit.

I have always found that they transition back to clear way too slow if you are someone like a contractor that goes out to cut something then has to go back inside frequently.
My xtractive lenses do not get darker with bright indoor lighting. I have never seen that
I think it depends on the lighting, but I agree, the tint indoors is so very faint it is hard to notice.
