"The 2nd generation of Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, launched last October, have sold more in a few months than the old ones did in two years. A third-generation of the glasses is expected to be ready by the 2025 holiday-shopping season, according to the WSJ report."
This is truly outstanding for the blind. i’m happy they may help you have a better quality of life. I’m surprised they don’t get far more recognition for the invaluable help they offer people with disabilities. Kudos for the great video.
Carl, thank you so much for putting together this informative review. I have a relative who is blind and I think he would find these glasses quite useful. I hope Meta sees the potential for this technology, with respect to accessibility, and listens to feedback from customers. Oh, and what a cool train!
Thanks so much for watching, and I hope your relative really finds great use out of these glasses. I do believe that Ray Ban or Meter are aware how these glasses have unintentionally grabbed the attention of many blind people and apparently they have been some podcasts where they have been invited to participate and listen for future firmware updates or in terms of met AI considering how blind people would find it useful
call, I followed your TH-cam link from the Facebook discussion group, this is a truly excellent review of the glasses, I have had mine since they came out, but I didn't know some of what you know already! Really brilliant Idan and very well edited thank you very much. By the way, I have shared it around different site related groups in Ireland! It will be famous! Thank you 22:12 again, Sandy and her sidekick ZYON
Hi Carl, I've just come across your channel (subscribed now). Thanks for the great review. I've been an adaptive technology trainer for blind people in South Australia for over 20 years. I mostly train and support people with no functional vision using JAWS and VoiceOver. I've seen a lot of blindness-specific wearable tech come and go. e.g. E-Sight and OrCam. This is the first wearable tech I think might really be useful. Maybe because it's mainstream tech that has to speak to you. In the past 6 months, I've been doing more and more training with AI. I tried Chat GPT first, then Perplexity, now I'm working with Claude as the free version allows you to upload images and the important buttons are labelled for screen readers. In my opinion using AI to access information is such a revolution for blind people. Using Google and then trying to figure out a web page is hard but AI just gives you the information as text. I look forward to seeing more of your videos.
Thanks so much for watching. Yes, I’ve only really gotten into AI quite recently, using ChatGPT in my work environment, and then using Be My Eyes and started enjoying the photo description capabilities, and then I stumbled across these glasses, and they just make it more easier using and pulling out your iPhone all the time. Although Be My Eyes gives you a better more lengthy description of a photo scene, or some apps on the phone can read entire documents, the glasses are focused more on quick answers, summarising things, and getting into the information you need quicker. Oh and by the way, I love Australia, I’ve been there twice, have relatives and many friends there, been in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

I will try and focus on more tech, and more reviews on these glasses as they develop, and I’m trusting met AI will develop the AI as well as firmware for the glasses overtime. My TH-cam channel is very informal and is just bits of anything and everything from some of my hobbies to activities.
Nice video. Thanks. Do you know if VoiceOver on my iPhone will be audible on the glasses? Does iOS see the glasses as another bluetooth device? Ditto for the microphone. Or are the glasses tightly bound to the Meta app. Thanks.
Great review. I, too, hope that they loosen the restrictions on people description just a little bit. Just enough for stuff like hair color, etc. It will sometimes say stuff like a person wearing a green shirt and sunglasses, but still. I do enjoy them for color identification and description of my own clothing when trying to match outfits. Product recognition, particularly in the kitchen, is great as well. I don't use Chat GPT so can't compare them in that way, but these suit me just fine, with the caveat that I want more text read from documents word for word.
Have you tried using navigation and listening to directions as you walk outside? Are they loud enough and can you use any commands to change where you want to go or pause the navigation? Good job sharing what the glasses do.
Thank you so mutch for this video. I would like to ask about vpn. Is it enough to connect to vpn, I don't need to change Apple ID location? Thanks again.
I am also totally blind and have had mine for going on two weeks. The AI description avoidance for people or clothing is disappointing. I understand the privacy concerns, but realized that by taking a picture I can go off and do the same thing and mostly, I want for my own outfits. I will look forward to future videos and for finding key phrases you may use to get better descriptions of the environment as well as other uses. Thank you.
Thanks so much for watching this video. It is disappointing and I hope they soon lift this restriction on describing people, as every single sighted person who finds out I have these glasses want to know what it says about them🤣 but apparently you can point at the jacket or pants and ask what colour it is, and I believe it will sort of avoid the face and possibly work I will try sometime with somebody.
Have you attempted to have them read street signs, yet? I am certainly intrigued by these glasses and will most likely be obtaining a pair soon but I am curious about a compare and contrast to products such as the Orcam glasses.
Hello there. my name is Shaun. I can tell you thatOrcam is very hard to get ahold of. As far as OCR, Orcam is going to be better at reading. I have been told that the EnVision glasses are going to be your best bet for wearables for the blind, as of right now. If you are interested in Envision, make sure to get the Pro model. I am actually researching wearables right now, myself. This is what I've found out, anyway. I hope this helps.
I think that the marketing company does not want to position it for these people because it becomes a "medical" product. It doesn't change the fact that they are great for people with vision problems. People who are interested in technology have them. What's important, they look normal! And not as if they were screaming out of their heads "Hey, I'm blind"! Most of the things that help people with medical conditions look terrible. I hope this product develops in the right direction

Excellent review. Honest and real-life from a blind person's perspective which is what I needed.
Thank you very much! I am a blind person, and it was really helpful to know what these glasses can do.
The latest manufacture batches of eyeglasses have transition lenses thst turn much darker outdoors than the first batches.
I enjoyed your reporting and commentary on the Ray-Ban glasses.
THANK YOU for this amazing video. Been trying to figure out if these would be useful for my blind father and this review was exactly what I needed.

You are very welcome
Thank you. I learned so much !
Thanks so much for watching, I am glad it could help you.
Many thanks for the review. Very informative and helpful
Thank you Great review. Wasn’t sure how to interact with ChatGBT but now I’ve a better idea. Keep up the great work.

Will I be able to use the AI features in the UK 21:23 without a VPN?
Not sure, not sure if they’ve rolled out AI there yet
Can you assign a name to a photo of s friend for future referance?
Thank you so mutch for this video. I would like to ask about vpn. Is it enough to connect to vpn, I don't need to change Apple ID location? Thanks again.
No, VPN connected to US server before initial pairing and set up should be sufficient, I have not tried the Apple ID method myself.
when on wi-Fi will I have to connect to VPN when using AI features in the UK?

How does it deal with OCR? For example, can you have it read a whole page, rather than summarizing what’s on the page? 17:25 v
