100% worth it! For my fellow gaming Husbands and Dads out there. Lemme paint the picture:
You get home from work, greet the family, shower up…and instead of ducking off in the game room for the night, you grab a beer and hangout on the couch with your Portal while the wife cooks dinner and the kids are hanging out on the other couch watching Disney on the TV.
Now your family feels like they’re not LOSING TIME with you, just because you’re in the same room with them.
That’s honestly the way I benefit most from it. I can still game while being around my family. They love it and I love the fact I still feel connected in the moment with my family (even though I’m knee deep in Team Deathmatch) 😂
Even before bed. Instead of mindlessly scrolling on social media, i get a few games in while in bed. Definitely helps that Im a little more relaxed while gaming.
    Definitely worth it. 🙌🏾

Very good point. Could be a cost saving reason or perhaps they didn’t have enough time to implement and push that design/testing through for release. Not all usb c flavor is the same so I don’t think they can push out a software update for this feature request since the portal usb c only do power and no video/bluetooth out.
But I do agree with u that they could/should have borrowed the psvr2’s usb c protocol to future proof this feature.
My only future request is for them to allow custom button remapping on the portal. Currently the custom button mapping on the ps5 appeared to only work with the dual sense controllers and not the portal buttons (I tried). So hopefully they update this on the ps5 system or in the portal’s setting page since I don’t see that option either in the portal. Crossing fingers.

Absolutely. However, the great part is that there's really no issue w/them being able to allow the Portal to do it and Sony has already stated that it is something they are looking into for the Portal. They just wanted to make sure both experiences were good to go and it's just a matter of utilizing the servers for both remote play and cloud streaming.

@@DriIfty your PC is not conveniently also a dual sense controller you can carry around without anything else though, is it? This is really just about comfortability and convenience. It's that simple. A PC is not that convenient and it's not very portable either. Even a laptop isn't as convenient or as easily portable. You'd still need to carry a Dual Sense controller with you as well as the laptop or tablet. That's fine if you want to do that, but it's easier to just carry one device.

im okay with 1080p on that screen. but oled and hdr would have been better and a selling point. plus if it had the option to connect a non proprietary bluetooth headset. 200 for an accessory is pretty steep. there needs to be more to entice. i can get a controller and a larger tablet and enjoy it just as much.

I just thought of asking this since I was just wondering, but can you also sign into your PlayStation Network account manually on the PlayStation Portal using just an e-mail address and password for PSN like you can on the PS5? I was just wondering though since I actually don't really scan QR codes myself being that I'm just not into that sort of thing. Even though this is 2023, almost going into 2024 now, I'm kind of an old-fashioned person and all since I still do certain things like it's 2003 almost or something.

I played through Spiderman remastered, miles morales, and about to complete Spiderman 2. Definitely ergo enough for long sessions. The haptics are great when I’m in office makes me feel like playing at home as opposed to a compromise like on my backbone. Meaning I only do side missions on backbone because I want to complete stories on the bigger screen and experience on the portal.
