Had mine for a week now. Love it. No more dragging my PS5 around the house. I can play it in whichever room easily
Getting one for this reason too play it whilst chilling out in bed
Yeah it’s perfect for that.
I have literally 3 ps5 in my house not to mention 3 8Ktvs
if you have a hacked switch or a new phone its literally the same LMAO you can use apps to stream your ps5 so you dont have to waste 200 fuckin bucks..
@@BansheeN0rn damn lmao. Yeah just gone head and sale one of ps5 and let me get one for the tvs. Thanks in advance 😂
Thanks for this review. I was lucky enough to find one recently, and I can’t wait to play it. So glad to find this positive review. ❤
Awesome! I think you’re going to love it ! Thanks for watching!
Aye man, this is a fantastic and honest review. I was definitely on the fence about getting one but I think you might've fr convinced me. Appreciate you, bro 🤝
No problem man. Appreciate you watching 💯
Good stuff man. Love the laid back talk. Good details
Appreciate it man!
For the sense of not buying additional games in order to play this game, it makes sense, however to solve the WIFI issue, Sony could maybe implement a mobile network system where the device carries it's own connection like a cellphone in order to connect, maybe
I like this idea. That’s not a bad idea.
So like how they tried the att&t thing in the past with the vita? Yea that aint happening again
Thy need to put in a damn web browser so you can sign into wifi anywhere
@@kevinkev1530 I do agree with you on that one. I’ve seen somewhere how you can get around on that. I should have screenshot it.
@@StaticxJFordWhat’s the method consists of?
Hey bro, thank you for this review, it convinced me to buy one! Also wanted to let you know that the quality of this video is incredible, especially for a new channel like yours. Keep up the great work!
I Appreciate that bro. 💯
Thanks for the video. There are may things to like but the comfort level is the most outstanding. The screen size, clarity of the screen, and the lightness of the device all contribute.
I agree man the comfort level is amazing. It’s more comfortable than holding an actual ps5 remote.
I just bought one over the weekend and it has been a huge surprise for me. I'm a parent, and I was able to move into spaces where my kids were playing and could be with them while they played or watched a video and I was free to play, put it down when needed, and pickup when ready again. Maybe its just niche and if thats not you, keep moving.
Exactly. I think it’s for people who love convenience. The ability to move from one room to the next and play. Or simply traveling having without having to carry their system with them.
Thanks for the review! I’m trying to get my hands on one.
appreciate you man 💯
Nice video brother! Mine shipped from playstation direct today. Im assuming that stand you had it on at the beggining doeent come with it? Lol
all you get is box, instructions, usb c cable and the portal lol. I bought the stand off etsy, link in the description
good review, helped with my purchase. new sub from uk
Appreciate the sub man 💯 let me know how you like it once you have had time to adjust to the portal.
Got mine a couple months ago and I have no regrets.. i have it connected to 5ghz and my ps5 is wired internet so not an issue.. I play destiny 2 on mine an walk all around the house an even take it to work.. my work internet isn’t the greatest so it gets choppy… but I love it cause I can leave my game room an chill with the family around the house with it.. it is exactly what it was released for..
Man exactly man. Just so convenient. Me and my wife was watching the basketball game and I was able to just bring portal in the living room and play on tv breaks.
Dope review and video! I love my steam deck but ima save up for the portal
I want to try the steam deck tbh
I love your honest review! I will be buying one and I’m subbing to your channel!💜
Thank you so much
Thanks for the review…just got for hubby’s birthday gift and he loves it. I’m the tech nut in the family and had him watch your video to learn about it because he had no idea about this device.
Awesome glad yall were able to find this Video and he actually loves the device !
Generally handheld consoles don’t have as many games as an actual console like ps5 or Xbox. This is good because you can play those heavy games that regular handheld consoles can’t and you don’t have to spend extra for games. I love this. Just trying to find one in stock to purchase it
Exactly man ! Everything is already expensive enough as it is. But yeah I call into Best Buy customer support. That’s how I was able to order. I got lucky lol I was calling and they had one in stock and was able to purchase over the phone.
Ive had mine for 2 months i have enjoyed using it. No major issues with it works great away from home i have my ps5 wherever i go.
Exactly. It’s so convenient
Can you turn the PS5 on and off with it? I'm wondering if you're traveling do you have to leave your PS5 on rest mode to use it? Or can it turn the PS5 on from it being off?
@trevorderr9479 it has to be left in rest mode
You know what would be better? An actually portable handheld that doesn't require you lugging your PS5 around. It's an inconvenience. It's garbage and a waste of money.
@@Purfinex yeah you definitely dont know what youre talking about lol. you dont need to carry your ps5 with you
Great review, subscribed!
Thank you ! 💯🙏🏾
Agree! Great points and great review.
Appreciate it ! 💯
Best review on the portal I’ve seen, very reasonable and true of what you said… I’m a parent and It can be very handy when watching the kids and they’re taking over the tv. Everyone had been bashing it but honestly it comes it handy.
Appreciate it bro seriously. Yeah I can’t imagine how this will come in handy once kids are in the picture for me.
Had mine from launch. Played every day. Don't use my 65 inch TV for games anymore. Just the Portal. It's been flawless. Currently playing Baulders gate 3.
Guess ur 65inch tv only does 1080p? I got a switch
@@BansheeN0rn My TV is 4k and looks great with PS5 and my Switch. But I prefer just chilling with the handheld. Looking at swapping my Switch for a Steam deck oled or Rog Ally. As the switch is just sat there now I've got the Portal
Awesome man! It’s super convenient man and I’m just at a point in my life where convenience is everything. Can move from room to room instead of being stationary in one spot.
Poor purchases need reasons for the purchase. It's garbage, you know it too.
@@Purfinex if ti was garbage it would have been returned. just say you didnt know what you were doing when you purchased it. or move on to something else cause clearly there are other people here that enjoys it
It’s an interesting device. I’ve had it for a couple of days now, it’s comfortable and plays my library but I do notice the stutter (PS5 on Ethernet, roughly 500-600mbps) - but it runs okay for a Gen 1 thing. A higher res screen plus another method of streaming games and not via Wifi could fix the delay. Not sure what that could be though 🤷🏻♂️
Yeah the stutter was one thing I did forget to mention. But it’s not a big deal to me but I agree with finding another method of streaming.
Great Review! You just got a new subscriber bro 👍
Thanks bro I really appreciate it!
I’m about to buy one because I have a top end PC so don’t really want a steam deck, can you play the Ps now games on it that are stream only like older infamous ones?
I’m not completely sure. But I’m sure you can being that is is a PlayStation product
Thank you bro for clearing this up for some of us who love the device.
Yes no problem bro. I hate that people so negative and did not even give the device a fair shot.
Facts! I mean Sony did explain what the device was as well. I just got mine a week ago. I have been using it daily and prefer to play my PS5 like this. Than again dad life man 😂
@@Bl4KV4NGUARD 😂 facts though and I think that’s what annoys me the most lol. But yeah I can’t imagine when I become a dad it’s going to be used even More than I already do. lol 💯
@@StaticxJFord haha, trust me bro you will definitely be using it more once you and your wife have kids lol 😆
been trying to figure out this question: do games you have downloaded from PS plus work on this?
Yes.
Good review
Thanks man
I’ve searched and searched but really can’t find definitive answers.
I’m two hours away from home at the hospital with my son. We will be here for a month on his first stay so I thought this would be a GREAT idea. Long story short, got one here but can’t use it. The hospital Wi-Fi has an “accept agreement” and portal won’t let me, so I’ve been using my phone hotspot to attempt to hook it up with no success. My daughter is home so I walked her through the recommended settings on the ps5 for remote play, power savings etc. I linked the portal with my ps5 through the PS app but it will not connect. I’m stuck at this point, question, does it NEED to be on the same network at least once? Or pairing through the app should be enough?
No you don’t need to be on the same network. Long as the ps5 is in rest mode and you turned remote play on you should be able to connect. It would be easier to connect for sure if you had the portal right there with the ps5 initially. But long as the ps5 is in rest mode and connected to WiFi or hard wired into the ps5 you should be good! Regardless if the WiFi connection is different on the portal. Yeah the accept agreement thing is a bummer and one of the things I think PlayStation didn’t think all the way through with. But hotspot would be better route anyway imo due to being the hospital WiFi might not be as good as and fast possibly
@@StaticxJFordappreciate it.
@@raider1tk no problem. Hope all is well 🙏🏾. I had a video of how I synced it but I messed around and deleted all the footage
Hi, I saw another video yesterday of a way around these open Wi-Fi connections where you need to login via a browser. If you there for a month I would recommend researching the option. Long story short, you need to check mac of portal, then copy your mac onto laptop. Accept agreement and login etc, then change laptop mac back to normal and portal works as if it is the laptop. I really hope this helps. Hope all goes well. I really want to get myself a portal but need to convince the wife it's value for money being a dad lol!
@@damianhunt8980thank you so much for replying with that info. I hope you have a great day.
Thx for the review. I'm looking forward to picking up a portal when i comes available. I find remote play on my phone isnt the best with the screen size and control issues. Besides then
negatives you mentioned, I also wish you could stream media to the portal.
Like Netflix or something or even TH-cam ?
@StaticxJFord we should at least be able to put a dvd in the console and play it remotely
Finally getting mine on Monday
Have you got it yet? If so how you like it ?
You deserve way more subscribers brother. Great review
Appreciate it bro 💯💯
Awesome review bro!!
Appreciate it bro! 💯
How far away have you been from your PS5 and it working and was your PS5 connected by Ethernet cable ?
Furthest I’ve been away was on a 4hr road trip to the mountains. Ps5 connected through WiFi and portal worked flawlessly. I actually played an online Madden game on it and some red dead redemption and a little bit of cod. No issues. Only issue was the tad bit latency I mentioned in the video when playing CoD. Other than that it was perfectly fine.
Thank ya I’m gunna be about 400 miles away from my house I hope it works out
@@vinceflores9422 It should definitely work. I travel with mine all the time. No matter where I am at, it works flawlessly. Just make sure your internet is up and running at home and youll be fine.
since i got my portal i don’t remember the last time i played off my TV, the portal is soo good
Awesome Man! I still play on my monitor. It honestly depends on the game I’m playing. If I’m playing more rpg games I prefer the portal
you can buy a cheap 3.5mm blue adapter nowa days pretty cheap now thankfully. so that you can connect your headphones to it and it will be wireless albeit the adapter on the back of it. They range anywhere from 10-30 bucks :) thanks for sharing this, take care!
Mmhmmm good tip. Thanks I’m going to do that lol
2 questions-
I have a backbone, should I buy this?
How far away from my home could this, assuming I have hotspot?
1. For me, I’d personally like to use my phone for something else tbh. To have it free other than for gaming. If that’s you then I would say yes. If you actually play remote a lot. Which I’m assuming you do since you have a backbone.
2. As far away you want long as you have internet connection.
@@StaticxJFord thank you this has been very helpful I’ll definitely consider buying one then 😁
@@BTF_13579 yeah man it’s a different experience. Playing via phone compared to the portal. Literally like having your PlayStation in the palm of your hands
Can you only play digital game on this? What happened if you have the game on disc?
As long as that disc is in the ps5 itll play it but unlike digital you gotta manually switch discs
As long as the disc is in the game. You’re good to go.
I got it yesterday....love it ....going use it for GTA 6
Awesome man yeah I can’t wait for gta 6.
I m playing gta6 on a big ass 4k tv😂

I have my PS5 in the living room and would like to just play my portal before bed in my bedroom. I have pretty strong WiFi and I don’t play multiplayer games. Sounds like this is the right product for me 😅
Yea man if you're playing rpg or any game story driven, you will live it. I hate playing rdr2 on my ps5 now because of the experience playing on the portal
One portal fan to another, you have my sub
Thank you 🙏🏾
Same here brotha, I love mine. I think like all social media people jump on the bandwagon train because it's trendy. It serves it's purpose. That's it 💪🏾
Facts bro 💯✊🏾
Ppl shit on it but they cant explain why its always out of stock..
Do you have your ps5 hardwired to your router or you playing on Wi-Fi and if so how smooth is it on Wi-Fi?
Straight off WiFi. Plays smooth. I’ll
Make a POV type video playing a game on the portal to show it’s smooth
@@StaticxJFord that’s exactly what I wanted to know because I’ll be on home Wi-Fi as well appreciate the reply mines come in on Monday and I’m very excited for this device.
@@2khighlights189 that’s exciting man. Let me know how it goes
Question: if i have the portal and on the ps5 i have 2 accounts can i play on both accounts at the same time, lets say if i wanted to play gta with my friend and he dosent have a console can i use the portal to stream the ps5 and play at the same time?
Im not completely sure to be honest, but I will say most likely not. UNLESS you have 2 PlayStations. Because the portal is connected to whatever system you connected to and your ps5 will basically be on mirroring whatever you do on the portal while you're playing the portal. Once you pick up the actual ps5 controller and cut it on, it will switch back to the ps5 controller.
@@StaticxJFord oh alr ty for the answer
Loving my portal , not used the PS5 since I got it launch day
That’s awesome man. What kind of games you play ?
What happens when the controller issues start? I go through a controller every two years or so with FromSoftware games etc. Stick drift etc.
We will see if that happens. For now I’m not worried about that right now
I travel a lot, so this became a no brainer for me. Only con I can find is there is noticeable lag when it came to multiplayer games
Yeah that and the Bluetooth connection are really only two for me. The others are just nitpicking.
So I’ve had a steam deck quite some time and then a steam deck oled recently. I couldn’t see the point of a ps portal despite owning and playing a lot of games on the ps5. I used the remote play app on steam deck and it seemed perfectly fine.
Out of curiosity I bought a ps portal and you know what. It’s better for playing ps5 games than the deck. The controller is a clone of the normal dual sense with adaptive triggers and the same rumble. I feel like the screen even seems clearer for text. Complete suprise but I’ve been using the portal more than the deck playing ff7 rebirth and helldivers 2.
Shocked myself but completely sold on it. Such a Good price point too.
Soo do u luv it or hate it?
$200 for a remote player is asinine
Good points man! I want to try the steam deck one day. Just to compare the the 2. I just played helldivers 2 for the first time on my ps5 yesterday. I can’t wait to play it on the portal.
By reading that comment I think he likes it
Just say you don’t want to buy it and move on. It’s not for you bro. lol this like your 3rd comment
What internet speed you need to have for good quality?
I’m not sure exact numbers. But long as the connection is stable
Its so weird to me that some people have this immense hatred for this thing. If you don't want it, dont get it. Simple as that really. I think its a great device and is a really convenient way to play your PS5 games if you're travelling or your partner/kids are using the TV. I got one because my game lounge is downstairs but I don't like being away from my wife and dogs. The portal allows me to be around my family and also play some games. Its a win win for everyone in the house.
Same bro. I think it comes down to everyone was expecting this to be the next “psp” like the old one, but I actually love it man. Like you say it’s very convenient and these days I have been BIG on conveniency.
originally i thought the idea of having to own a playstation to even use it instead of it being a true handheld gaming device
but the more i thought about it the more well....non issue it became
think about it
the steam deck reguires you to have steam games to work right ? well pc games in general
which if you arent already part of that ecosystem/ pc gaming world....thats something you gotta go out and get
if you want a nintendo switch you need switch games and so on
sure this one requires a console to work but still if you do have that...its a great little machine
Great way to put it! Cause this is honestly my exact thoughts.
Can you go live on twitch or TH-cam from the portal?
No
Yes you can
Just uploaded video showing how to
Here to support a fellow new tech enthusiast ❤
Thank you so much 🙏🏾
I wish they would added a hard wire line to connect to the ps5 . it would have solved the wifi connection problem. I play with my controller connected , why not with my portal.
Hard wire line to connect to ps5 to the portal ? Or line to connect internet connection to the ps5?
@@StaticxJFord hard line to connect ps5 to portal.
@@resaleking14 that would kind of be pointless. It would diminish the point of the portal.
Should I get this one? I'm nervous to buy it but I am eyeing this for a week now. walmart near me have 3 stocks. I only play RPGs but mostly with heavy graphics. you are a great reviewer no bs only honesty.
If you play RPG. This is actually a great device for you. You will love it. Multiplayer have its negative but mostly RPG have no issues long as you’re with good WiFi. I have a TH-cam short of me playing Red Dead Redemption. The graphics on the portal is amazing. And I appreciate it. I really do.
@@StaticxJFord I bought one! finally. :) so far so good. I'm enjoying it. I only have 1 question. do I have to turn off HDR on my ps5? or set it in automatic? thanks again for the review. hope you maintain the quality of your channel. wish you all the best.
It would be better if they had to raise the screen up instead of putting it down, I think
Like flip the screen up ?
thinking of getting one but the latency will bother the hell out of me i already own a logitech g board and the xbox streaming on there it’s not the best so i could only imagine the portals not so far off, great video man i thought u had a couple mil subs , good quality vids twin‼️
I just got one because I travel for work and fell way behind on gaming. But there isn’t any latency issues (if) you play single player games. FF16, FF7, RE4, Ghost of tshushima. All run smoothly. Make sure your ps5 is plugged into your internet too. But I’ve used a 5G mobile hotspot while away and it’s great. I imagine cod online would not be good
Latency is really only bad when you’re playing games like CoD online in multi and tbh it’s really not bad, it just takes time to get use to because of the slight delay. Other games, you would love the gameplay on the portal
So it will be bad for destiny 2? Guess ill return it
I’m not against it entirely, I think my biggest reason to not do it is the fact I have to get a specific pair of headphones from Sony if I don’t wanna use the built in speaker.
Yeah I honestly hate that but people have found a way around it but still doesn’t work quite as the same.
So I had a question if anyone can help me so basically u need to have ur ps5 on to play this right that means if u don’t wanna see ur ps5 on ur tv while playing the portal you need to turn off the TV, but still run the ps5 ?
The Playstation needs to be at least on rest mode to play the portal. It will not connect if the playstation is off. If you do not want your tv on while you are away, just simply unplug the hdmi and you should be good to go.
@@StaticxJFord If you wake the PS5 remotely, I'd assume it doesn't trigger the TV to turn on? I'd hope they at least thought that through
@@MrSwaggernaut83 yes it’s acts just as your ps5 would as you are remote playing your ps5. To fix this if you don’t want your tv to cut on I think you can fix that in your ps5 settings or just removed the hdmi while you’re away.
Still trying to get mine to work without lagging, and disconnecting all the time.
Dang you have problems connecting and it disconnects you? I haven’t had that issue. I did have issues connecting at first but it was cause I doing something wrong. But after it was flawless for me. Never had a disconnection issue either.
That ps5 portable is dope 🔥
It definitely is. I’ve been enjoying it
What's a good wifi??? Bc I can't yse my portal barely at all. It's lag no matter what. I got it on release day and only played it the first week. I fell like I wasted my money. I only bought it for COD
I can play cod with no issues other than the little latency. No lag. Good WiFi is essentially what it is good strength of signal. Have you tried hard wiring your ps5?
@StaticxJFord no I haven't. Idk how to and didn't know u could
@@shortybbarfield444 yeah you can hardwire your internet to your ps5 from your router. Just have to get an Ethernet cord. It’s plenty of videos on TH-cam that do it. I’ve heard that helps. But mine is completely running on WiFi and I have no issues playing cod
I would love to get one! I work nights and sometimes it gets really boring this would be great to have! But no Wi-Fi…😫 so it’s pointless for me 🤦♂️
You can get hotspot on your phone.

Yea that part is true as well
Looks like a cool ps5 companion
It definitely is !
This portal is a game changer for me. This is great! It's a little heavy in the hands when playing for a longer time.
Yeah it’s definitely a game changer. I find it very light in my opinion.
For what I'm used to, it's a little heavier. The handheld itself is light compared to what it could be for sure. The only other handheld I've ever had is a 3ds xl and that's more like holding a controller. This is so big I just have to get used to it more. It's definitely light for what it is. That's a massive screen and a dualsense lol.
@@JonnyBlaze325 I can see that. lol it is a massive fr
It really just needs the ability to connect directly to the console for the screen streaming. The ps vita had this. And the connection was superior to wifi.
You can stream from the portal. It stream the console gameplay. If I’m understanding what you saying correctly
@@StaticxJFord what I'm saying is the portal get signal from the wifi. The ps5 uploads to internet. Then the portal gets it from there. On ps4, the system could be turned off of wifi, and still directly stream to the vita. With a very good quality and much less lag and whatnot.
@@Hopelessthugg oh okay I get what you saying. Yeah that would be good.
Hows the delay when playing nba 2k?
I don’t really play 2k but If it’s anything like Madden. It’s not bad at all I’ve played multiple online games with it.
how about Sony puts out a firmware update for these disgusting frame stuttering issues! completely unacceptable.
Yes that too. I’m honestly surprise they haven’t released a firmware update yet
I was going to get one but found out it doesn’t have Bluetooth for ear pods. The Sony ones costs the same as the portal itself, that’s obscene. Stupid move by Sony.
I agree very stupid move by Sony.
Finally got one for retail so I know its gotta be worth it cause the thing is always sold out. The headphone connection issue was defiantly a cash grab thats a common Sony move.
Yeah I definitely wasn’t paying the price these people was selling them for on Facebook marketplace and eBay. Only retail. But yeah that’s my exact thoughts. Of course they wanna find a way to make even more money. 🙄

You need 700-800 to play it if you don't already have a ps5. Very Niche device.
Well that obviously. It’s an accessory to the ps5. It’s not its own console. So of course it’s niche based device.
I think 800 is still cheaper than 1500. Cause ps5 + a tv lol

5mhz band?

Come on man! Dont get me wrong I love my Portal. I used it a lot. But is NOT PERFECT. Even with a great internet connection which fortunately I have. The stutter man. The issue is already being pointed out. Refresh rate issues. And yet, Sony still haven’t addressed the issue.

@@StaticxJFord I get you! I agree. I just thought your thumbnail title was a little exaggerated stating that is perfect. May just be better than portal because of the versatility with remote play and pc games.
@@StaticxJFord well im lucky to have both devices. And I can tell you that Steam deck does perfectly what the Postal is created to do which is stream PS5 games. Which is my entire point. It does much better if not perfect what the Portal is supposed to do. 👍🏼
@@massaridrums1072 I can see that for sure.
Not sure why ppl care about wifi ffs why take it away from home just enjoy where you’re going smh
Yeah idk why people care about it as much. It doesn’t bother me at all. lol I prefer it that way tbh kind of keep things in perspective like you said. Enjoy where you are going and be in present moment. I just play in down time or at night when everybody sleep
@@StaticxJFord yeah man I’m happy playing the portal , after a long day in bed feels and looks good ! Enjoying it so far
Buy a gaming pc handheld
I’m thinking about it. Maybe a steam deck or something just to try it but I love the portal
It's garbage. It's only useful if you can't use the tv because someone is watching it, or if you need to use the bathroom and don't want to stop playing. If someone else Is using the PS5, useless. If you want to travel and play, nope. Whoever made this should be fired, it's that pointless and obviously just a money grab.
I have traveled and used it perfectly fine. So you don’t know what you’re talking about lol
@@StaticxJFord you carry your ps5 around with you. You have to use the same wifi. I know what I'm talking about because I was beyond disappointed in finding that fact out. That's why I returned it the same day I got it. I thought it would be an actual portable, not a glorified mirroring device.
@@Purfinex I dont carry my ps5 with me. My ps5 stays home now. travel with this only lol. So i know you have no clue what you are talking about. You dont need the ps with you to play it. You do have to have a ps5 but it does not have to be with you. I traveled over 300 miles away and it worked flawlessly. I am happy with my purchase. Money well spent for me.
