Can you use the Portal as an additional controller? ie 1 player using a Dual Sense via the TV, and another player using the Portal via Remote Play? I used to do this with the Vita and PS4 Remote Play, so hoping it’s still the case. 😊

You actually can use remote play as a second controller, i've played many times like that. You do remote play as player 1 and use a regular dualshock as player too. You can do the same with xbox. You cant connect directly but you can use as second controller. Its sometimes useful. Another use is for who wants to save cellphone battery using a portal instead. Last advantage is use a pal's console, you dont nees to use it with your own console, as long as not in the same time (on single player games)

You can still buy one today, and it dose what this thing does but better. If you still have a PS4 you can even use it to play ps4 games. I'm not sure if it works with the PS5 now but even if it doesn't its better than this piece of shit.

Nice Portal, it does look great and at £200 might be worth it, but as you have said, more so if they open it up to the Direct Streaming from the Gaming Cloud then yes it would then become more versatile and thus more worth the money, even though as you point out about the 'Backbone' and if that is worth £100 then unreservedly it is worth the money in that case!

@SpawnPoiint you’ve failed to mention that the portal doesn’t currently have or support native security features. If the portal is lost/stolen, the next person who picks it up will have the freedom to connect this portal to their own PS5 and use it as they wish. So for everyone out there please make sure to at least apply a PIN to your PS5 unit until Sony comes up with a patch or support for the feature. I found this out myself because I have a PIN on my PS5 and when the portal successfully connected the PS5 required the PIN before I could use it. If you do not have a PIN, it just goes straight to XMB dashboard letting the next person have access to your unit.

I wish too. i feel like The markets too competitive though. Switch and steam deck do it so well. Plus, they probably still have PTSD for how hard ps vita loss them.

Sony wont go to that market again after the vita. The model of creating 2 version of every game are not profitable. Sony makes money mostly from software.

@@AndrewHadi07 This time around they wouldn't have to. this handheld I'm thinking of would just have a die-shrunk PS4 APU in it, so PS4 games would natively play

This looks cool I could see my self grabbing this to play a quick session while on break or having a lazy day or it’s movie night. Great review !
9:06 playing while you away is awesome as long as you have good WiFi you can definitely enjoy your games away now. You just need a case for the thing

Nice Portal 💙 This is perfect for me… I travel quite a lot with work but everywhere I go has Wi-Fi I feel like this device is absolutely perfect for what I need, I only play slow paced single player games anyway so I’m hoping the lag won’t be an issue 😊

Sorry to burst your bubble man, but it has to be connected to the same Wi-Fi as your PS5. Meaning you can only play it at home or wherever your PS5 is

If Cloud gaming was included with the Portal, it would be a game changer as you said. I currently use a Backbone for Cloud gaming via Gamepass either when im home or out and about. Works for me, but I'd enjoy Cloud gaming support from Sony as well.
At present, £200 for a Remote play only device feels steep. More so, when you realise that if you want to use wireless headphones with this, you'll need to fork out another £120 to £200. Im hoping that the existing Pulse 3D headset gets a firmware update to allow PlayStation link to work on this.

This is why they don't want to do it lol imagine using your portal for gamepass lol that will be the best of both worlds.

I know that is impossible, what I'm referring to is that I'd like Sony to do Cloud gaming support similar to how Xbox do it with Gamepass. Sony are just starting the PS5 Cloud streaming, and I believe the Portal would be ideal for Cloud gaming from Sony.

Why Sony doesn’t allow users to use their own headphones astounds me. The ps5 recognizes my AirPods then tells me nah fuck you we don’t support Bluetooth audio devices However if your Bluetooth audio device is our shitty headset we’ll allow it
