This is a great video. Very easy to follow and understand. However, in squaring off the spiral, if you want to take it to 60 stitches for that round, you need to put 4 stitches in each corner or you only end up with 54 stitches. And it works better to square the corners, with or without a chain space for the corner. Just letting you know what I found after trying thus. I do love the video otherwise.
Awesome, thanks for sharing 🧶💕
It totally made a difference! Thanks!!
Oops...I meant to say 56 stitches, not 54...
Maravilhoso seu trabalho e super maravilhosa a sua forma de ensinar !!!!
Agradeço imensamente por seu compartilhamento ❤❤❤

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I finally understand how to do a spiral, your tutorial was precise and easy to follow, thank you, really appreciate all your hard work. ❤
I'm so glad! Thank you ! 😀🧶
I’m a long time crocheter; I also teach. The algorithm chose this video for me. Not too bad. I love spirals! Great for heels in socks, and for using up ends to make dishcloths, cozies for bowls and mason jars. Just remember, if you want to use them in the microwave, they need to be Natural Fiber ends, not acrylic, or poly anything. These will melt.
Have fun crocheting! ❤
Hi friends! This is a big video but the technique itself is simplified and really easy to do so I hope you'll give this a try. I worked 4 rounds for each tutorial but you can make your spirals as big or as small as you like. Same with squaring them off. If you have any questions, leave them in the comments. xx
Oh good, thank you so very much.❤❤❤😊
Hello Atlas & Roz. These r very pretty. I am going to have to try my hand @ this. ❤
@@michellewasson277 thank you and Hi, Michelle! Have a great week 💕
@@PlayHookywithMe you as well.
I actually did 9 or 10 rows and ended with 120 stitches. How would I increase to square it off?

This is such a fun project. I love the corner idea.😍 I have made spirals before but never even thought to give them corners. Also, I am a huge marker fan. Every project I make, I use a marker(s). That way, there is never any guessing. Great video, Roz. 💖
Exactly- it saves on all the guessing. 😀🙌🏻 Only issue was my stitch markers were not appropriate for this project - they kept wanting to slip out … but I was too lazy to grab the ones that clip closed 😆💕
@@PlayHookywithMeI like those stitch markers...may I ask where you got them?
@@chereetakimber5070 I got them at Michaels - the link is in the description window below the video 💕

Hi,The most colors Ive ever used was 3 but you explained the directions for 4 very well.I actually made a round blanket yrs ago with 3 colors and I just kept crocheting and increasing around until it got to be about 50" or so. a little wonky but it came out looking pretty good.Thank you

Thank you so much! My pattern is slightly different, but your instructions are perfect!
Wonderful! 😀👏🏻
Ive wanted to a spiral for a while but they've always looked too complicated... i watched this video and dived straight into a 4 color spiral and love how you explain and show how you can turn them into a square if you wish thank you 😊
That’s wonderful! 😀💕👏🏻
❤❤❤Thank you!
Always you have an easy and special way to explain everything. Thank you sooo much 🥰
I have a photo to a granny square i hope you can explain how can we do it, if you can ofcourse.
Send it to me on Instagram, please, I’d like to see !
Using this concept would it be possible to make an entire spiral afghan and then make it into a square?? This is a great tutorial. Thank you so much😊❤
Yes, absolutely! A viewer mentioned that she’s made a spiral blanket before. You would just divide your round by 4 and follow the steps in the video to form your corners and sides 👍🏻❤️
Could I just leave my blanket round or is that too weird?! Lol! If I did that, would you recommend the taper down method to finish off or is there a good border to do after the taper down? Thanks!
I was looking for a way to make place Matt’s for thr holidays this is perfect
That’s great! 😀💕
Great tutorial, thank you! I've always wanted to try the spiral, and you've made it look doable. Though I think I'll stick to 3 colours. 4 seems way too fiddly with bits of yarn everywhere...not sure my sense of order would cope 😂
Hahaha 4 is indeed fiddly, won’t dent it! But only the first couple of rounds . 3 is my favorite, I think. Thank you ! 💕
Hi! Your tutorials are very clear and articulate. You are a very good teacher! Is there a reason there is no option to "save" one of your videos? I have a favorite crochet video list and I can't add this to it. Thanks!
Not that I know of. That’s really strange 😐 Hopefully it’s just a temporary glitch. I’ll definitely look into it, though, thanks 💕
The easiest way to create a magic ring. ❤
Loved this video. Did the 1 and 2 color right away in cotton wash cloths? Often I watch and the skills aren't immediate. This was fantastic! Thank you
Yay 😀👏🏻🧶❤️
Just started this today, thanks for the great tutorial! If I left it round and made a big blanket, what’s a good border pattern to use? Thanks!
Oh boy - your guess is as good as mine on that one. 🤔 Maybe a simple picot stitch border or a shell stitch which would give a ruffle look .
Hi there! Great instructions. Do you know how many more increases to do a circle large enough for a chair pad? Using three colors.
Sorry, no clue . I don’t know what dimensions a chair pad would be. I recommend finding that out and then working your circle until
It reaches the size you want 💕
Love the swirl! was wondering if you have made a square blanket ? I thought maybe a baby size
I have not , but that is a great idea 😀💕
Hi Roz, thank you so much for this video! It's so well explained. I jumped right into the 2-color spiral and I got it on my 3rd try! I had trouble with my yarn tension but soon as I figured that out it turned out so cool. Do you think this would work with single-crochets instead so it looks more 'tight'?
So glad it helped - yes , I can’t see why it wouldn’t work with sc’s 👍🏻💕
@@PlayHookywithMe Thank you! I will try :D
Great tutorial, thank you! Could you please share what brand of stitch markers these are? I know you said they weren’t great for this project but I’ve been looking for some “bendy but closed” markers like these ones….
Sure, these are called crochet dude by Boye. There’s a link in the description box below the video. I usually get them at Michaels but you might be able to find them on Amazon 💕
@@PlayHookywithMe Thank you!
Love your spiral video. Where did you get the neat stitch markers that can be used one handed? I love the ease of using them. I want to find some. You are very talented and I like the way you teach. thank you!
Found them...thanks for including in your description.
Great glad you found them 😀👏🏻
❤
I pray you are going to tutorial the multiple color one. For some reasons it ties my brain in a not. I can't read attend because of a reading disability so I have to depend on tutorials to learn.❤❤❤ Thank you 😊
❤️❤️❤️
Hi Roz , so how would you go about joint these spiral squares? What method ? And would you suggest doing the last round where you square it off on one color or would you keep it with the different colors ?
The color choice really depends on your project and what you would like the finished project to look like. Totally your call.
For joining , you can try an invisible join method , that’s my go-to.
Here’s a video with a few options, though….

@@PlayHookywithMe thank you
hi! thank you so much for this tutorial. i’ve made it into 9 rounds in total of 108 stitches. how do i make it into a square? do you by any chance know what stitch should i use to form a square?
i’ve tried various stitches but it still looking like a circle😢
I don’t know what to suggest other than the steps I recommended in the video 😕
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Ke your stitch markers. Where can I get them from xxx
I think I added a link in the description box under the video. I got mine at Michaels , but you might be able to find them on Amazon.
Crochet dude stitch markers by loops & threads
Is there a way to make a spiral in the other direction? I realize I can just turn it over to get a spiral going in the other direction but it just looks crap.
It could be possible but going about that is beyond my skill set . I wonder if it goes in the other direction if someone is left handed .
Can I use cotton yarn?
Absolutely- these samples were made with cotton
I'm coming from having already made this for a hat and it was both good but complicated to me because it was making the form of the hat not stay flat it was coming in like as if I was making a ball, still currently trying to find my way around it by excluding Inc after the first initial increase (Inc in each, rd2 no Inc, rd 3 1 SC Inc, etc.) I'll come back to report my results
Yes keep me posted 👏🏻
Thank you! Well I came back now from another trial and error I may have just missed some Inc's in my first trial so I do believe it did stay flat after following through as it would be originally for the rows. Thank you so much for guide overall I'm still amazed by the outcome
@@indrigvelazquez8633 excellent 👏🏻
Thanks for the tutorial! Really helpful, except that I really would have wanted clearer instruction for squaring my 4 colors spiral. All these shortcuts at the end really don't give me enough info to do it and now I'm stuck with my unfinished spiral. I'll have to search for another tutorial.
Ok 💕
Do you knit or crochet gloves or mittens?
I do, yes, but I haven’t got any tutorials, other than an easy wrist warmer uploaded yet .
Hi! I’m a little confused about ending the circle… is it always 2 hdc’s, 2 sc, ss, no matter how many rounds you have? I have 3 colors, 25 rounds total. Thanks!
No, you’ll have to play with your stitches to straighten out your sides. Takes some trial and error but you’ll find a sequence on the side that you like. If it were me , I’d count how many stitches I have on the side between corners , then divide those stitches up along that side with different height stitches. So that might look like 2dc, 5 hdc, 5sc, 5hdc, 5dc or whatever.
👍🏻💕
@@PlayHookywithMe thanks for your help!
💖🚀💫✨
Buen día

Ok, I did 👍🏻💕
How do I keep it flat??? I finally got this down but it keeps curling and I want to cry! I’ve been keeping my tension consistent 😭
Try a bigger hook , that should loosen it up for you 🧶👍🏻❤️
Can you continue to make a blanket!
Yes ! ❤️
hey, cant figure out how to do spiral with 6 colours can you help please?
It’s hard to explain other than you will divide 6 into 12 and start there with your stitch count.so that means you will start that first round with 2 stitches for each color and go from there.
I’d recommend watching the 4 color to get an idea of the stitch sequence and try to follow that method and apply it to 6.
@@PlayHookywithMeI did it, thanks a lot
