    Hi Friends! Hope you are having a great weekend. Here is a requested video on how to work the moss stitch in the round as a rectangle. I've added tips on how to avoid the jog line and skewing plus how to resize the rectangle. 💓 Please check the description box for a link to the calculation I used if you want to know more on resizing. x

    Omg, I had wanted to do a moss stitch rectangle when you released your moss stitch square video, and so I combined the tricks from your video (particularly the HDC at the end of the round) with ANOTHER video and started my moss rectangle blanket a few weeks ago, and here you are uploading this!! 😂😂😂

    I really like the way you go into the 4th chain to start and have the two chain stitches for the corner ready and waiting. I've been trying a pattern that goes into the second chain and recommends doubling up the yarn for the first complete round to make the blanket sturdy. By doing the entire corner at the end with double yard is very bulky so I am going to try this way next. Love the ...I think it is the half double crochet . Also, I am making a baby blanket so thanks for the dimensions. Will start with 20 chains! Thanks!

      @@evelyngonzalez8028 I’d recommend acrylic or cotton yarn because they are both machine washable. T-shirt yarn would be a great option as well.
      If it were me, I’d search a couple of patterns to see what is being recommended and see how it looks in photos. Jute’s a fun option as well but my only concern is the wear and tear on the hands . But Ive never tried before so I could be wrong on that.

    I'm a beginner crocheter, so still working stuff out, but would like to try my hand at a blanket. When you turn this work, it looks like you're working back down the side you just finished. Is that right?

    Good morning . A question, can I use that formula for other projects ( like a blanket ) or just for this one?

    • @PlayHookywithMe
      @PlayHookywithMe  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s a really good question.
      Do you mean other type of stitches or just turning this moss stitch into a different sized rectangle?
      Everything is based on the size of the stitch you’re working with so you need to measure that first to then be able to determine the sizing and count for a project . So I think you can adapt it for other patterns but it will take some extra steps.
      I’d recommend testing on a small sample and seeing if the formulation translates well for you 👍🏻💕

    I'm making your moss stitch square now and you say no ch 1 after the corner hdc when turning. For the rectangle you do use a ch 1 after the hdc when turning. I love your pattern just a bit confused 😊

    • @PlayHookywithMe
      @PlayHookywithMe  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      👋🏻 Hi . Great, I’m glad you are enjoying the patterns.
      Yes , I see on the ch1 . Remember in the square , I mention it’s completely optional. I omitted it because it helps to hide the seam line even more as you’re working. BUT , it’s absolutely not necessary. Usually I do a ch 1 and turn to give myself more wiggle room as you saw with the rectangle.
      In short, you decide 💕

    I lost you at 9:38 seconds in. I don't know where to do the half double crochet. Put it into what single - where? I keep playing it over and over, but I'm missing something. It seems like there are two choices where to go and it looked like you went into the base of the stitch furthest to the left? Is that right? You put your thumb over where I was trying to see as you emphasized the corner again, but your thumb was hiding it. (Thanks anyway.)

      @@PlayHookywithMe Ahhh! I'm just figuring that out now. It's the single crochet that you told us did not count as a stitch when we turned the corner and then made the single crochet. So, it looked like there were two single's... I'm not sure if I put the half-double in the exact right place but I got one made and it seems a bit wonky, but now that I'm understanding better and following along, maybe the next corner might be better. Thank you so much for replying. I really appreciate that. Trying not to be a perfectionist and tell myself I'm just learning and just starting out so I should be patient learning.

      You’re so right, it’s 48, thank you! I should have clarified that it was a 4.4 ft x 5 ft blanket. I had looked up a standard throw size to do the equation which is 52 x 60 inches. But the math conversion is still correct in case anyone reads this and decides to use this chain count . 👍🏻💕
