This was a horribly edited version of this bit. If you get a chance look for and watch the full clip, even if you don't do a video. Every edit, (you can clearly see) cut out important story elements that made the punch lines make sense, especially at the end. Bill burr is a master at call backs in his bits, and edited versions like this miss those golden moments.

You can see at the end the video wasn't smooth. It stop n pause then skip.

    Here is my favorite quote:
“The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.”
    Socrates approx 400 BC
When you hear teachers, parents, people ranting on about how kids are bad today........
Think about the old fart 2500 years ago that had the exact same thoughts

Bill Burr has another video called "vagina privilege" which might help understand the points he's making about women being able to say and do socially unacceptable things that men can't do without reprisal. He is definitely not saying it's ok to hit woman, he's just saying there has to be an examination of what lead up to the physical altercation

I guess you have to choose the longest versions of the routines, so you don't get an edited version. This one wasn't edited due to swearing, the person just cut sections out that they probably thought were unnecessary, or slowed it down - but they changed the overall experience. There is one called "Vagina Privilege" (or Psycho Robots), where he talks about a violent episode with a girlfriend.

Funny thing is, the domestic abuse that happens in most countries is typically 50/50 but they only focus on the men abusing women and not the women abusing men. Plus how under reported it is by men, should be surprising to people. Plus how many times have you been out and seen a women smack her man? Probably a lot. Where as I've rarely if ever seen a man smack a women in public. Maybe a handful of times in my 44 years.
Just my two cents anyway. Bill Burr has a good way of mixing truth of a situation into his comedy but still making it funny.

I think there's a huge difference between being offended by comedy and being made uncomfortable by personal associations with the subject (or delivery) of the comedy. It's absolutely fair of Ash to say this one is harder to find the humor in for personal reasons, especially since she's not saying, "Bill Burr sucks and should be cancelled for this!" but rather, "This particular bit is maybe not for me." If I'm not mistaken both of those stand up routines happen around the time of the Chris Brown/Rihanna relationship turmoil was in the news.

Fortunately, this is probably one of the more contoversial ones Burr does, so it should get better. The important part of being offended is knowing that we are the ones offended, and that is our issue. There is no issue with hearing a joke and thinking, "this hits too close to home, so it's making me feel uncomfortable". The issue with some people getting offended is when they claim that no one should ever joke about that topic. You can listen to a joke, understand why its funny to people, and simply just not think its funny because for you the sensitivity of the topic is much stronger. Also, whose to say that in the future this wont become a routine that you find hilarious. We all grow, and all have topics we simply just don't laugh at.

The most interesting thing with Bill Burr is how he's evolved. He's significantly younger in this clip, but now that he's older, his perspective has evolved as well. He's still just as funny. He's still just as subversive and provocative. He's the same angry guy when he goes on podcasts. But he's also married and has a young daughter. Check out his new stuff as well!

Dave! You watched the edited version of the bit, the funniest part of the bit when his girlfriend kept hitting his headphones off his head is not in this version. When you, Daz, and Mike watched you watched the correct one, this is the one that Daz, his wife, his son, and daughter watched! This is still funny, but in my opinion, the funniest part was edited out! I've never had a girlfriend in my life, but I understand why your girlfriend really didn't laugh at this. When I'm watching this I'm basically nodding my head in agreement, but I still can see it's a serious subject(I didn't really laugh like I usually do with Bill), but I still smiled when he said how basically absurd it is to
hit a woman. I'm sure there were women in the crowd that were hyperfocused on that Bill said I can think of 17 reasons to hit a woman, but they didn't listen to what he said about you just don't do it and they tuned out on the rest of the bit! In my opinion a man should never hit a woman and a woman should never hit a man no matter how angry you are! If you are that angry where you might do that then you need counseling or just walk out of the house and cool down!

Someone from the Boston area and just saw him in Maine, have to listen to his Philly rant. Crowd in Philadelphia booing every comedian for 3 hours, then Bill Burr came on stage. Freaking hilarious. Side note: Bruins fan who hates the Flyers, "wearing the slacks".

This is the most interesting video I've seen in years. Watching both of your reactions throughout it was enthralling. Apologies I'm new to the channel. But the woman had both react for the camera reactions, and genuine reactions that were attempted to be hidden. And wow. So interesting
I;m sorry you had to go through whatever you have went through though, I hope you're happy and have complete freedom to be who you want now.

You shouldn't hit anyone but there's plenty of reasons to...eg some people are just total c.....

It's understandable to not be comfortable with something that has caused you distress or pain. Bill is trying to point out that there needs to be discussions about why things happen. You two just sat and had a discussion of why it made you uncomfortable, that opened both sides of the story for debate. With the examples he's just saying there is immediate reaction to the action without the discussion.

Secondly... to the girl: I've seen a few of your videos, you sound smart and cool and everything... so you reached your limit with that skit? You CLEARLY were offended, at the end. And yes, the crowd was laughing. :D
