So the 'That may be fine for a mayor" comment has backstory that you may not be familiar with, this show was in DC, and DC's Mayor, Marion Berry, was arrested in the late 80s for possession of cocaine while he was mayor. However, he had a political comeback when he ran again in the late 1990s and won even with the conviction.

That was because Marion Barry was an actual effective mayor not only that but a black mayor who was not afraid to put forward a "black agenda". Alot of other black politicians get into political office and are too afraid to push any legislation, policy, or mandate for their community. MSM however will only ever remind you that Barry was a crackhead.
I'm not a religious person but I went to a predominantly Black Church in a East Palo Alto (not the wealthiest city) California and had a great time and was treated so well and given a free meal. It made me understand the beauty and importance of community.

It’s so fun going to a black church. I dated a black girl when I was in college and got the invite to goto church and it was the best time I ever had in church. I knew I was being stared at and laughed at but it really did bring me joy. I’m not the most religious person and never have been but I had a great time everytime I went and eventually got in there and got invited to the barbecues and dance nights and had a blast. Made fun of myself for sure but it was an amazing experience that I’m glad I went through with

I got invited to go on Easter as well but my mom who is religious wanted me at her church that weekend so I declined. That reminded me of when I was a kid, my biggest fear was being kidnapped out of my room at night. Then my dad told me, "Nobody in their right mind kidnaps little black boys.".

You are very correct at 5:00 about your analysis of Black Comedy here in America. I was born in 83, but I remember growing up watching ComicView, Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Bernie Mac, DL Hughley, Martin Lawrence, Chris Tucker etc. And I also remember White comics like Bill Burr or Gary Owen who also were in the Black Comedy scene. It was a real renaissance era where people really made the audience laugh hard.
As a kid, my parents sheltered us from "vulgar" stuff, but we always found a way to listen to the comedy from friends at school or later on in life. I think this era of comedy kept it alive and comedy started becoming more "raw" because of it.
Dave impressed me with how he survived Hollywood’s assassination attempt, (of his character) which Oprah was a part of 🤯

The way Ash described the churches she grew up in sound very similar to both white and black churches in the southern U.S.
In the US The DEA got permission to sample individual sewage pipes within a large public housing project. They analyzed the samples and found which apartments had traces of cocaine and other drugs. Those units were raided the next day with "probable cause". This has been repeated in other US cities. Sewers are public utilities and you do not have a right to privacy in those spaces so no need for a warrant!

This might explain why I love Dave's partner so much. Not only is she Beautiful and intelligent, she has experienced what many of us Americans have. Black Churches. At least when it comes to Black American church is they actually praise God instead of just sitting silently in Somber. The Definition of Praise itself, is the same thing you would do at a game or Spectacle to the MORTAL Mammal Human teams you would praise at a Game. She gets it. She has seen how to praise God properly❤. Not Somber Disrectable Funeral Boring. True Praise. And she has also seen how in Black Christian/Catholic Churches, they celebrate LIFE, even in Death. And every day in their religious ceremonies they will dance and praise God, as to praise like you would your favorite League or Team. The Torah/Quran/ Bible has always said it's okay to praise God as if you would praise something you like. It's unfortunately that in Europe and including the British Isles they forgot that memo.... and for some reason thought that life on Earth should be solemn praising God..
That's also just another way of worshiping though. A different way of feeling the spirt. I am black myself. Look how many other religions believe in meditation to connect with the spirt. Every way you try to reach God or the Spirit is good.

The "dark" "wild" what ever you want to call it comedy has always been around, it just wasn't aired on regular TV. You have to have paid channels or see it in person.
You also had roast battles like rap battles blow up in the 90s and early 2000s along with open mics.
Its sad we finally broke free of censorship on tv/media to going back to it...except when it comes to sexual content.
I grew up with Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Cheech and Chong, Robin Williams, Dennis Leary, Eddie Murphy.... Dave Chappelle is F-F-Funny, just like those I've mentioned!! You'll have a blast checking them ALL out!!! 😊

Changes can be made very quickly in government but other factions have opposing interests.
For example in America universal Healthcare is opposed by nearly everyone while "tax cuts" get passed in a matter of months under all conservative presidents. Tax cuts are designed to substantially favor the wealthy.
