- Spark plug change done on a 5th Gen 2012 Chevrolet Camaro.
A shop will charge $150-200 to change plugs. Do it yourself and save money!!!

Good video. I recommend using anti seize on the new spark plugs and to also check the gap to make sure they haven’t changed. Also make sure there is grease on the coil to prevent water working it’s way down.
It's 2023 and I found more use out of this video than going to the shop and not getting ripped off from a mechanic quoting $200 to start . Thank you !
It costs money to do it for parts and labor you're not getting ripped off you're paying for the convenience of having someone else do it
The plugs are currently $7 on RockAuto. The shop most likely buy in bulk from somewhere and gets a discount. But even at $42 for parts, 200-42 means the remaining $158 would be labor. $158 for a 30-45 min job is insane lol
They just quoted me 200 too lmao
@@shanehowe766I agree that no one should work for free or pennies on the dollar.
However, I just changed my spark plugs for the first time on this car, and it took so little time, I went in and removed/cleaned the throttle body along with swapping out my cabin filter and intake filter.
All easily accessible. Both filters took me 2 minutes. Removing the throttle body took me 3 minutes and cleaning it took maybe 7. Hell I even thought about cleaning my engine while I was at it.
Had I paid a shop to do this It probably would've cost me upwards of $400 to $500. A dealership likely would've been more.
Mechanics should get good pay but charging that kind of money for such a simple job is a rip off. They cash in on the laziness and/or ignorance of others.
Solid video for saving money and time by not having to take my Camaro to the shop. Thank you dude!
Hey man, thanks so much for keeping this video up on TH-cam! I just changed the spark plugs for the first time watching your video step by step and it was a success. Appreciate you and have a good day

Yo thx man, just meet the misfiring issues. This video really helps me a lot
Excellent video!!!! Thanks for posting
This video has given me an idea for a new video.
I just used this video to change the spark plugs in my 2013 LT V6 Camaro. Thank you so much for posting this content. Seeing the walkthrough helped immensely and got my baby running again.
I am glad it helped. That was my goal. To help at least 1 person be able to do it and save money VS. going to a shop
@@24FlyT how to know if its spark plug?
What kind of issues were you having?? Like drivability wise
@@lsx_aspirated8265 prob misfire like a kick whenever u going uphill if u holding in the gas
My dad is saying not to change the spark plugs without buying the wires as well what do you guys think?
Terrance,
THANK YOU for making this video! Much appreciated! 👍
No problem. Glad it helped you
Your video helped me change my spark plugs and boots/coils for the first time on my 2011 camaro. Great video. ✨️
Thank you and glad it helped you out
I have a 2011 as well. I'm watching videos so I can do this Monday 🙌🏾 I'm a do it yourself woman. This comment is confirmation.
Omg I just finished watching. I have a 2011 I've had for 7 years with 76k miles. The coils or sparks have never been changed. This is undeniably easy. I'm so glad the video was in my feed. I'm doing this on Monday. I was about to pay someone to do this but knew I could do it myself if I found the right video. I'll be back with my results. I know for a fact I can do this after watching this. I'm excited.😂 about to watch so more of your videos to see what else I can do myself. Thannnnnnk You
How did it go? Did you change them?
@@24FlyT you get 5 stars 🙌🏾 my car is still running great 5 months later. It was soooooo easy. Thank you 🙂
Great video! Thanks for posting
Thank you for sharing this!!!
I know I’m very late but seeing you open the oil cap made me laugh because I had a mechanic doing a change and I peeked in to see him with vice grips trying to unscrew it, I ran into the shop told him to stop and pulled it up😂💀
Thank you bro. Looking to save money on my Holden Commodore here in Australia with the same motor. Appreciate this video!
Glad to help. You’ll save a lot of money doing it yourself
Great video very detailed 💯 Thanks 🙏🏽

Thanks Good job sir!👍🏾
Great video. Well explained.
thanks
We have the same car, thank you so much. This was very helpful to a girl trying to do it on her own.🙈💜
You’re welcome. It’s great to see women work on their own cars. Mechanics won’t be able to take advantage of you!
they wanted almost 300 dollars up here in ohio at jerry haag chevrolet plus parts , can you believe that garbage , thanks you saved me some money
Yeah the dealer prices are crazy. Glad this helped
That's nothing. My dealership wanted 800
Appreciate the video yuh
Thanks a lot boss!
Great video
Saludos cordiales excelente video
Oh I Think I Got This. I Made An Appointment To Get My Spark Plugs Done. I’m About To Cancel That Appointment And Do Myself 🤞🏼 I Have A 2010 I Haven’t Had Them Done Since I Got My Camaro In 2011 😬 🙏🏼
You got this 💯
Good looking on that rebate
No problem. Check ACDelco’s website. They usually have rebate promos on different parts no matter what store u buy from
Nice 👍
Nice. Thank you.😎👍
No problem
Thanks man
I get my plugs from Ebay. First set changed at 80,000 putting second set in at a 180,000. And yes put antisieze on spark plug threads and dielectric grease on the orings on the coils.
did you go with ACDelco or a different brand
@@24FlyT AC Delco
You got a video for the fuel injectors?
The v6 rs doesnt have spark plug wires? Just ignition coils?
Did these plugs come pre-gapped?
Can you or anyone tell me what the hose at the top front part of the engine is? I can hear a vacuum leak but I can’t find the right part. And Terrance, your video got me through my first ever spark plug change. Appreciate your help, time, and effort man.
Dude i have the exact same thing right now which led me to this video. Did you ever find out?
Im not sure what that hose is. But definitely glad i could help with the spark plug change
Arrived looking for explanation to the leak-sound on the passenger side of engine near top/front. Interesting I wasn't alone. I did try testing for vacuum leaks with traditional methods and the engine made no notice of the chem I was spraying around the intake manifold. Not going to panic as car runs great and no codes.
Are they all the same size
What is the hose at 11:02
Disconnect the negative terminal, better safe than sorry
9:04 hey the thing ur holding, what is that cause the plastic tube connected to it accidentally broke and it’s currently holding on via gorilla glue and tape
I'm not sure. I'll try to find out
Evap purge valve
I couldn’t get the spark plug to loosen up. Might just take it to a family mechanic :/ didn’t want to spray wd40 inside getting random p0300 codes bought ignition coils just incase
Don’t let shit fall past the spark plug is what I read. spray around there to clean while it’s in. I had to replace coil on mine and code went away, but I should have replaced all of them. Still have p0420 lol need to get o2 spacer.
What size lug you used to take the spark plugs out ?
it’s a 5/8
What size socket did you use to change your spark plugs?
Most are 5/8 or 16mm
5/8 spark plug socket
What’s the gap for the spark plugs?
According to the manual 0.43 but I left the champion spark plugs I got at 0.47 and they work just fine. I just wouldn’t go past .5 or below 0.4
Is it normal for some of the plugs to have a little bit of oil on them?
No, might have worn piston rings. Or could be some other things
Same thing happened for me it was the valve gasket cover
Did you unhook the battery prior to starting?
No. Just started changing them. You'll be fine without unplugging the battery
How many pounds of Torque spec?
I don't torque spark plugs. Tighten until it won't turn anymore. You don't want/need to overtighten
@@24FlyT 11 ft torque bro
How much for the spark plugs?
Right now $8.99 @ AutoZone and they have a rebate going on $3 back per plug. ACDelco has a rebate too. Do the rebate through both companies lol
Thank you my baby sounds great now!!
How many miles you got on this car
I traded it last month. I had 98,000
@@24FlyT why ya traded it ?
@@great4ever845 I was ready for something different.
Meineke wants to charge $950 to do a Tune up on 2011 Camaro.
$950 is crazy. Did you end up doing the spark plugs yourself?
Di-electric grease and torque specs are a thing 😅
I'm aware but i didn't have any problems. Thanks
Funny my dealership said they would have to remove the manifold to get to it
Just to change the plugs? They were trying to get some extra money out of you for labor
