- In this video we show you the beginning stages of starting to build our home in Prachuap Khiri Thailand. The house will be approximately in total, 178 SQM (1,915 Square Feet, which includes the carport, front porch and back deck). It will have 3 bedroom and 3 bath with inside living space (128 SQM) - (1,378 SQFT}. The Swimming will be a 3 X 8 meter slope pool 1 m 20 by 1 m 60 deep.
Can foreigners own land in Thailand? It is always advisable and highly recommended to seek legal advice before entering into any contract, especially in a foreign country.

Exciting times Joe and Gift! Your build brings back many fond memories of when we started our home back in early 2014. Enjoy the experience! Capture and enjoy each "page" in this new chapter of your lives.
That is called a flat footing foundation. A pile foundation is when they drive concrete piles down until they hit rock.
Footing foundation is adequate where the soil is strong and does not move. The right solution for that location. :)
Wah is a length, same like a meter or foot. Square is in Thai 'Talang'. So for area you use 'Talang wah'.
You often see signs saying the land size in this format: '3-2-50'. That means 3 rai, 2 ngan, 50 talang wah. A rai is 1600 m2, a ngan is 400m2 and 1 talang wah is 4m2.

Hi Joe, I’m not sure if you or others are interested but we completed the build on our home in 2019. I did 70 videos on the progress also starting with the Pole Raising & Blessing. Listening to you on this video is the same way I felt. I had so much to learn. My only tip to you is don’t think of North American construction. This is a completely different game. A lot of progress! 170 square meters is a very good size! The salt water pool sounds wonderful! Land prices do vary greatly as everywhere. We brought 9.6 rai of farmland north of Chiang Rai for 3 million baht.

it's very exciting to see the progression of your build, regarding the land messurement you could also use the ngan, 1 ngan = 100 wah, 4 ngan = 1 rai.

Bringing your beach dogs with you to your new home? I’m so touched by how much you care for them. You are two people who deserve much happiness.Congrats Joe and Gift! This is going to be a great home base for all of your travels.
We do not plan on taking the dogs out of their environment. They are well taken care by the lady that sells the fresh crab and they are like part of her family, we plan on continuing with feeding, visiting and playing with them. Same goes for Cookie, she has been living on this property her in entire life. We will however bring her over to visit with us as well. Stay safe!
