Hello Joe and Gift, just love the houses and buildings with the exposed framing. WOW 800 years old, the oldest building here is 202 years old. Those bells were amazing and always reminded me of someone being happy. Yummy food. Sad your eldest Son does not want to be on camera, I wanted to see the gene pool 😂😂😂 Great video 10 / 10 Keep Well, Stay Safe my friends.

Lived in Germany 3x. The mood changed shortly after the Berlin wall was demolished. The mid 80s and to now.....major changes!
Germany definitely changed a lot since the first time I arrived in 1979.

Dusseldorf is a beautiful city. Was really impressed with the different architectural styles of the buildings. Gift and you are having such a GREAT time, nice that the weather has been good on the trip. Continued safe travels; can't wait for the next adventure.

Just got back from our 3+ weeks in Germany and we found that the people were very different from a year ago. We visited 6 cities in different parts of the country and it was the same. A hotel building engineer told us why. We saw many small protests/rallies, including bike riding protests, all being closely monitored by police. All of our hotels, flights and trains worked with no hitches, although we noticed that many trains ran late, which wasn't normal last year. Hamburg has the busiest train station in Germany and the 3rd busiest in Europe. It was a mad house...lol. Frankfurt was our arrival city, the river area was nice to walk and take pictures. The beer and bratwursts were great, as usual...even made it to the famous Hofbrauhaus in Munich this trip. Have a safe trip!

Hi Gift and Joe, I loved the timbered buildings in Hanau. I used to live in a 15th century house in the village of Lavenham, Suffolk. If those walls, which were made of wattle and daub, could have talked. The majority of that village has timbered houses and pubs and an enormous church. The only problem was that tourists used to come and peer through the windows. None of the rooms were square and the floors often uneven which added character. Anyway back to Germany. Dusseldorf, as with so many cities in Germany, looks very vibrant and modern. Its is great that wherever you go in Germany you have family guides to show you around. How sweet of your daughter in law to buy a top for Gift, very thoughtful. I am so happy for you both that you are having such a wonderful time on your travels. By the way, I think that what you called "comforters" are what we in UK call "duvets". The hotel looks nice and comfortable too. I wonder what tomorrow will bring. Joe I went to Germany when you did 1979. I was there near Goellheim close to Kaiserslautern for 3 years, and later for another 3 years near Worms close to Kaiserslautern. I remember how easy it was to learn German. I learned the alphabet in literally 1-2 days. When I find someone to talk to my German comes rushing back and it's not long and I'm speaking whole sentences again. ❤ Germany
I also found it very easy to learn German back then. I use to love listening to AFN’s German phrase of the day.

Joe, I have a grand nephew working in Dusseldorf for Aldi's. I landed in Dusseldorf to visit relatives in the Muenster, Germany area. I wished I would have stayed overnight in Dusseldorf for a few days.
If you should ever return, you will really enjoy Dusseldorf. It’s a very beautiful city.

Everyone loves Gift...we once took the Reine River tour to Cologne, Germany on the way made a stop at the huge Christmas store (forget what city) loud speaker greeted us "welcome all you Scotsman and two Okies, my husband and I. You know Joe I’m a history nut and I like watching videos and reading about history of your art to read a lot of books on history on Germany when I was in living in Germany and 81 and 82 and all about World War II and I think looking at the video and how clean Germany looks and how nice the buildings looking and how the restaurants are and how happy the people look I think myself and wonder what Hitler would think if he could see this now see Germany now after destroying it or almost destroying it during World War IIand now look at how it looks today

Your Federal Blue Cross Blue Shield should cover you in Thailand 🇹🇭, some hospitals accept a guaranteed payment letter and some want cash for services up front and then you will have to file for reimbursement. I would call BCBS (phone number on the back of your insurance card) for up to date and more accurate information, they will answer all your questions about providers and payment methods as well . You will still be responsible for your out of pocket copay.
