I upgraded my 8 inch sub to a kicker 8 inch on my 10th si and It did little to no difference on bass. Ended up getting a 10inch sub and amp from kicker and it worked much much better. In my opinion don’t waste money on that 8 inch sub

you need to buy a pair of boomat, cut it in half and it will act as a waterproof housing for your speaker. You can also put foam ring and you will find the mid-bass improve alot.

An if you have any other questions about sound! I can answer your question! I’ve always grew up on sound since I’ve been a kid. An have done a lot of studying how sound really work, and how to sit-up a clean system.
I definitely upgrade to jL subwoofer! If you like keeping your space ! You might want some extra power tho! For the subwoofer to really notice the gain out of the subwoofer!
Your midbass will amplify ten fold with a lot of sound deadening …. I won many, many IASCA shows and world championships. I learned and was and is friends with the best of the best in sound quality competition cars…
I’m starting to get a bit older and I’m not all that interested in having a TH-cam channel. I have the same car if I decide to actually do anything with the sub, I’ll let you know.
The infinity reference, jbl gto and club drivers blow everything I’ve heard out of the water for anything near their price range. They have much higher sensitivity and a 3 ohm nominal impedance instead of 4ohms.
It’s a considerable difference, but without treating the doors you’re going to see the potential of what you already have.
You could replace the factory sub in the back with the 8in kicker subs (2 ohm dual voice coil) that’ll fit and can wire to ur stock harness without much fabrication. The only issue is that there isn’t much power going into the subs from the stock amp and taking out all the rear trim is a bitch. Now it might be a bit expensive (quality wise its probably the cheapest setup i could think of) but if you want some legit thump and sexy sound I say focus on applying some sound deadening material on your front door speakers (stinger roadkill, or dynamat etc) and doing a 5ch front stage upgrade (like a speaker component set such as the alpine r2-s65.2), getting a seperate sub (such as a downfiring L7T for room purposes in the trunk), and a DSP amplifier such as Audiocontrol D4.800 or D5.1300. Of course there are better alt out there but you know you do whats best for your application. Steady bumpin.
I upgraded the sub already aha to the kicker. How exactly do I get it wired up to be like an external speaker but in the OEM spot? To utilize its full potential. It says max 400 watts so I’d do like an amp with 300?
@@ElPinche97 yeah you could run an external amp running high level input signal coming from either of the front doors since theyre the only ones that have full signal bandwidth or run a front door high level signal to an LOC then to an amp then to your subs. Just make sure you get a compatible amp thats running around 300 watts RMS to give you some wiggle room on power. The subwoofer says 300 watts but that just means it can handle 150 watts RMS. When shopping for an amp pay attention to the ‘RMS’ side of things. Otherwise id recommend just getting a 4 or 5ch amp with a DSP at around 800 - 1000 watts RMS just in case you want to put power to those door speakers in the future. If you got any other questions feel free to let me know, more than glad to answer them.
Also let me clarify, you cant just take out the stock amp you have to keep it plugged or else you lose all the other beeps and tones from your car. What I did was found the necessary wires that gave out full signal from the stock amp and Positapped them (L&R front doors) and ran those wires to my DSP amp and back to the output side of harness on the stock amp. You could also find a T-harness and do that from there (but its been hard finding a store who carries them or someone who does them.)
So they make compatible amps with your “stock head unit” for example you take out your radio, and they make these mini amps that fit right behind your head until! And THEY do a fantastic job! And great power for your door speakers! But I know the si has like 8-9 different speakers I think?
Yeahhhhhh that’s the issue, like I need to know exactly what parts ahaha I don’t want to dissemble everything then not work. The Si has 10 speakers in total. 4 tweeters, 5 speakers, and 1 subwoofer.
I’d replace the tweeters. With the same exact speakers you bought. So the sound quality stays the same. But I think the si does have a subwoofer in the truck. But all you gotta do is go to clutchfelid and type the model of your car, and they recommend subwoofers for your car, and all you have to do is just replace the factory subwoofer with a aftermarket one that will produce better sound quality, and will pack more of a punch.
Which tweeters? 🤔 I’d want them to look OEM though that’s the thing. And I ordered an 8inch kicker subwoofer. I went to the forums and found the only subwoofer that fits my car aha. Many have done it. Video should be posted soon once I figure out how to disassemble the rear plastics aha

so to answer your question on a sub without a box. the rear deck has a 10" sub that can be replaced but its limited on size and the ohm.

also i upgraded the center stock sub originally but honestly it sounded like shit so i just sold it and got 2 subs

@@ElPinche97 yea bro the way i have it set up is im running another amp next to the subs and im pulling signal from the two rear deck speakers for the lows, theres probably better ways to wire it up cus i lost the subwoofer adjustment from

@@ElPinche97 no just an ex with the 1.5t. The window sticker calls it an ex-t so that's how I always say it. Because I believe for awhile you could get an ex in the coupe with just the NA 2L engine too. So they add the T so you know it's a turbo model.
