Wow, thank you for the incredible shout-out-I’m genuinely floored! You pretty much nailed it: I do have a PhD (children’s literature-adjacent, technically), I do knit (though definitely not fast enough to meet my holiday needs), and my channel is still in its baby stages. Support like this means a lot! I’m so glad the algorithm worked its magic to bring us together, and I really appreciate you spreading the word. Tagging me? Absolutely-I’ll add it to my ever-growing list of chaotic filming ideas. This totally made my day-thank you again!
Nick, you are more than welcome! It's the fact you can knit and talk so eloquently (and also humorously) about what you've been reading that gives your channel that bit of magic. (Not to mention your wreath-making skills!) I'm so glad you decided to join the Booktube community!
I really, really, really need to catch up a little with reading purchased books. But will I? Thanks for shouting out Endless Drama; I think it's going to be fun! Jane Austen, yes! Nice recovery on Happenstance - now you can relinquish the ugly copy. Your plans sound terrific!
I don't know, will you? Ha ha. I say, life's short, buy all the books. I know you'll get to them! I'm excited about Endless Drama. It's been forever since I've read any plays. Hope all is well with you!
My new year resolution this year was to only read books already on my shelf, I’m ashamed to tell you how that went, I bought more new books than ever, just warning you🤣 Safe travels and a happy holiday!
Ali, I started the Read Your Own Books challenge last November and lasted until May...and then the wheels most definitely came off, so I completely understand! Well, that's what new years are for, right? Thank you and happy holidays to you!
For the last couple of years I've been reading the winners of the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. I'm not reading them exclusively, it's just a personal challenge, so I'm reading other novels in-between. I like the Pulitzer's better than others like the Bookers, the Women's Prize, etc.
Hi. I can't remember which Shields novel it was! :) Some favorites are The Stone Diaries, Unless, and Larry's Party. I imagine you've already read those so I'm stumped. I was kind of disappointed by Swann on a reread so that wasn't it and I've never read Happenstance, though (surprise!) I do have a kindle version. I have some ambitious plans for 2025, as well. So we'll have to hang in there and keep reading. Maybe a buddy read at some point? Happy travels to you.
Sonya, that's because it wasn't a Shields novel! It was an earlier novel of Joan Silber's (Housesold Words, I think), which is great because it gives me an excuse to go back to the used bookstore! Happenstance is an easy, pleasant read. I can't wait to hear about your plans for 2025--and yes, definitely would love to fit in a buddy read or two (at least).
Do any of us REALLY have it all together?😁I’m tempted to delete all the holds at my library just to start the year with a clean slate. Madness or sensible plan? 🤪We’re here for you whether you go off the rails or not. Happy holidays and bon voyage.
MJ, I came SO CLOSE to deleting my entire "want to read" list on Goodreads. IT has 982 books on it! Clearly some of us are more unhinged than others, ha. I'm so glad you're here. Wishing you happy holidays, too!
I am feeling sad for those rejected books cast off your shelf. What did they do wrong to be treated so cruelly? Hope you have a good trip. Making 2025 a year of Austen should be wonderful. I hope to join Endless Drama too.
Ha, Ros! Not rejected! Only set aside, with a blanket and a cup of cocoa! Thanks for the wishes...I hope you do join Endless Drama! Perhaps a buddy read sometime in 2025?
Hope your holiday trip back to the U.S. is wonderful!
(Persuasion to s my favorite Austen)
Thanks, Brian. Persuasion is the one I'm most keen to read.

I’m so glad you’ll be joining the Read Your Shelves Challenge! I loved hearing your answers to this tag. Wishing you safe holiday travels!
Thanks, Jen! I'm looking forward to tackling those shelves!
Yay! I'm so glad that you are joining us on reading some Classics in 20251
Thanks, Melinda! I'm excited!
I really enjoy your videos so much. They always leave me grinning from ear to ear. Happy holidays to you and your family, Priscilla!
Thanks so much, Randy! I hope you enjoy the holidays with your daughters!
@EveningReader If only I could get them to join me in my love of prime rib. 😃

I agree. The Pulitzer winners seem less likely to be duds.
