I'm stage 4 but I'm going to change my diet, and my blood pressure has went down 20 points already, so I'm going for it to get my health back, I don't want want to be on dialysis it's not a way to live, so I'm going to fight this and hope to win and also pray to God and also keep in touch with him, it's very important to me, so I'm going to see my doctor Tuesday and hope that I have good readings again for me, I only have one kidney it's credcial for me to change everything,

I had chronic strep as a child. Had to get megadoses of penicillin injected into my thigh and arm PLUS tablets. My nephrologist said I could have CKD from antibiotic toxicity..stage 3a now and since at least 2018 but stable around 44-48 over 5 years. Took lots of Advil for back and hand pain since 1995 until 2018. I discovered my recent condition by accident and am making changes re sugar in my diet, meat types (changing to plant protein whole foods over a year time frame). Lost 7 lbs in 7 weeks. Had a slip up last weekend and felt the difference. No more slip ups! Thanks for your videos.

Hi James, I started out with you nearly 2 yrs ago then dropped off when I got the hang of my CKD. I'm 85 soon to be 86. My Dr. told me, at 85, he thought I was probably the healthiest patient he has. I also have Dry Eye Syndrome, which I've recently learned is caused by CKD! I've done very well with my labs, eGFR is always in 40's to 50's.. B/P is controlled with 115/64 to 124/65 (but of course goes high during office visits!), am not taking anything for high B/P, A1C is a bit high, but steady. However, now, with my latest labs my "BUN" was high. No one has discussed BUN with me so looked it up. It said I was leaking blood and could cause a heart attack! THIS is what caught my attention. I'm physically active, everyone says I'm a very young physically for my age and I feel GOOD!. The symptoms listed for high BUN.... I have none of them. I'm never sick. (Had minor case of Covid...). I live alone, and need no care, am on zero prescriptions. CKD is all I've ever had to deal with. Can you explain to me about BUN and the "crisis" of having high numbers? Love your programs. I joined a CKD support group and recommend you programs to everyone. Several have responded they watch! Thank you for any info.

Vapprecuate what you share. I.have the doc's book. Im stage 3a. Lastyear2022 i cam in at a 56on my egfr but was not much protein showing up in the bathroom trips. This year i was down to44 in my bloodwork and two months later ut was 36 with blood work for my General Practioner annual. Have got my BP down with the aud of the meds. Losing weight slowly, changing my diet to a mire plant based diet. My animal& processed are almost out. I see my Nephrologist in November. I see him about every 6mo. Very impressive by your videos to actually see your advise in action. Thanks very much!!

James, I missed your live presentation on this subject but I have a question I really need an answer to and I am hoping you can forward this to Dr. Ro. I have protein in the urine and was given a small dose of Losartin, but I have low blood pressure and the kidney doctor told me to monitor daily and not to take the medication if my BP is under 110. My question is how can I help my protein leakage if my blood pressure is too low and I can't take the ACE/ARB? Thank you James!🤗

The potassium issue? Your doctor is going to test your blood levels regularly to determine where your levels are, and should let you know when you need to see a renal dietician. I'm in stage 3B, with protein spillage and PERIODIC hyperkalemia(too much potassium). Others with the eGFR and so on, the potassium issue tendencies aren't an issue... just pay attention to how you feel, too, and keep asking questions!

I am on Tacrolimus after liver transplant. My sodium is always low, as well as chloride. eGFR is went from 59 to 49 with Creatinine 117.What is my chances to improve with that situation. The nephrologist sad come back when your number get worth. Any recommendation please.

Because I saw three kidney doctor in hk who still don’t know what kind of Kindney type disease I have ( currently I am stage 3b , eGFR check last 2 years maybe 6 times are 32-34 , I start took Ace family medicine and cholesterol satin but have a very serious side effect with bad body pain , dizzy, diarrhea, want throw up , after 4/6 weeks , I stop both … I will trace to Houston this week from hk , I like to seeking a good kidney team to see me , May you please help me?

Can we have wholegrain in our diet
I’m African American female 73 years old. My doctor just told me that I’d been tested using the non-black ratio for my eGFR and it was 37. But he tested using the African American ratio, which he said was more accurate and it was 40. My creatinine was 1.4 and magnesium was low. He put me on 400 mg magnesium twice daily.
I had one test and had a +1 protein in urine. Next test had NO protein in my urine. ?
My urine protein is 30 mg. Is that significant proteinuria? James or Dr Ro

@@joshualuna7112 Sorry for the late update. In February this year, I went to stage 2. I was very happy. My eGFR was 68. Then in May, I went back down to stage 3, eGFR is 56. It is very hard to maintain our numbers, but eating healthily is key. I will have my next checkup next month, this August. I am positive that I will still be at stage 3 considering my diet this month. I am eating carbs more than I wanted to. It is hard to live with people who are carb-eaters. Hahaha.
In 3 months, eating seven veggies a day, my gfr went from 20 to 30. Those seven veggies a day s the answer.
