My goodness, what a brilliant piece you created. Just wondering what you have been eating, smoking, drinking to come up with that idea! Superbly done. And yes, I was wondering why you used the skew chisel first… Apart from the idea, the work itself shows you’re a master at woodturning. All those spikes nearly the same angles. My oh my, well done and a pleasure to watch en listen to your commentary! Cheers, __Frank
Hi Frank, I think all the smoke, drink and …… must still be in my system from years past. Only thing I’m high on these days, is life 😁 I just fancied a go with the skew first, but it was slower work than the gouge. Next vid is Tufnolturning. I currently stink from the smell of the stuff! 🤣
Another cracking piece, and video. The thought and hard work really shone through on this one. Loved the gilding. Time for Lenore to do a little tip and tricks or how to video with you?
Oh, this piece of art was worth the wait.!! What an interesting mind you have. Everyone else stole the adjectives I was going to use...but hey, you deserve to hear them again.....interesting/beautiful/pleasing to look at/jaw dropper/amazing/stupendous/and yes- very pointy! Run vampires run.
@@WoodWithD your whole commentary this video was making me laugh. I like that you talk about real things, off subject, whatever. I just makes it good to watch. Hi Richard. All the items you make are amazing but this one takes the cake. So much time and effort has gone into it and it shows it’s perfect. Lenore did an amazing job as always. The way you got each cone to be the same shows your talent you are inspiring me to start turning again. I was waiting for some bog oak to come out but what you used is perfect see the difference between us I don’t have talent like you lol. Thanks for sharing. Cheers 🇦🇺
Hi John, moat certainly you should start turning again! Glue some of that decking together for starters and make something even more gorgeous than the decking. Okay so there would be holes in the decking, but you could walk round those 😉 🤗
@@WoodWithD I don’t think my better half would like that lol. I’ve got plenty of off cuts to start gluing up. So I think I will start tomorrow doing something on the lathe my daughter wants a couple of handles making for her marble rolling pin. Got to start small lol. Cheers mate.
Great work Dick, that is a lot of work! Did you consider trying one of these ultra black paints you can get for the background? It have helped enhance the infinity hole as they do not reflect much light.
Dang, I know exactly what paint you mean and that would have been a fantastic idea! Dang! Well if ever I make something similar, I will use that suggestion 😁😁👍👍👍
Really cool piece! I wonder if you could turn half as many cones by cutting them in half on a Bandsaw? Plus it would leave a flat surface to glue.. but you'd lose some shadow and depth. Just brainstorming. Beautiful work man!
Hi Jacob, I did think about it, but then I might have some issues with the points, and I like the shadows and depth of the piece, I might try cutting the spare sycamore one I turned and see how it looks 😁😁👍👍👍
Lovely piece so many hours!!! Did you happen to weigh it to see what total weight was? This going end up in a up coming show or you have a client in mind was it born for the fun of it after inspiration from another piece ?
Hi Mike, in the box it’s 65kg in total! The piece itself is 33.7kg! JUST weighed it on scales! Knackered now! Need to find a gallery for it. Price cap at usual art shows I sell at, is too low for what it’s worth. Inspired by something I saw.
