I'm retired and don't care what day it is or what time it is for that matter! BUT, I think your clock is flat out beautiful. Thanks for sharing. PS ... I'm still hopeful that it will warm up a bit so that I can finish up my (your) little sheep. Unfortunately, at the moment I think mine looks a little more like a grasshopper.. I did make some very nice shavings so things are looking up. Take care Andy!

I may make one of these and make sure you get the credit.
Of course you can... I copied a picture on Pinterest and printed it out at the size that I wanted to make the clock, then took all my dimensions from the printout..
This made it much easier ... type in " woodturned mantle clock " and you should find it... hope this helps...

Gorgeous. You made it look so easy. I was thinking the easiest way to line up all the holes would be a very thin drill bit drilled in from the bottom just to leave a mark on the top section. Similarly you could have made the bolt go all the way up into the finial so that the finial would actually turn the clock around

That is a great Cornish clock Andy. Reminiscent of a wedding(?) clock ( aka. an 8-day clock?). So lovely to contemplate - hope it finds a nice home !

Wooden it be nice to have a clock like this on the mantelpiece! 3 times 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Andy! I will go and have a look at Hugh’s channel now. I am subscribed to half a dozen of woodturners and have never been within 10 miles of a lathe 😂 Go ... 🤪

Hi Robert... thank you very much... I'm glad that you liked it... I used 4 different sizes and it helped to keep the pillars consistent... I used a 10mm spanner to make the round tennons which fitted perfectly into a 10mm hole... take care...All the best.....Andy

Wow Andy. What a job. But the result is beautiful. The color combination is completely good.
I also use spanners, but only for checking the size. Thanks for the tip to turn it into a scraper too.

Hi Frank... thank you for your kind words...I'm glad that you liked it... the spanners are much more consistent than using callipers... really good for the round tenons...I used a 10mm spanner and they fitted into a 10mm hole perfectly... if you do have a go with them ... I would suggest grinding the cutting edge onto the short side of the spanner then you can hook the longer side under the piece before engaging the cutting edge... also get close to the diameter before using the spanner as they don't like chewing too much wood off... take care...All the best.....Andy

Wow, what can I say! That's a beautiful clock Andy, fantastic work mate! Nice tip with the spanners too! I have a couple of them old multi spanners stamped from a metal plate, I will have to repurpose after seeing this. All the best 👍
Hi Pog.. thank you very much for your kind words... the spanners really do work well... but make sure that you keep the bottom of the spanner hard up against the wood or it can cut the wood slightly smaller than the spanner size... and sharpen the shorter top edge of the spanner.... keep the tool rest far enough away from the wood so as not to jam the spanner between the rest and the wood... take care...All the best.....Andy

I have tried to find the picture with the sizes that I had worked out but unfortunately I don't have it ...
But I can tell you how I did it...
If you look on Pinterest and type in .. woodturned mantle clock... it should be the 1st picture that comes up.
I printed it out and enlarged it to the size that I wanted the clock to be.. then took all my measurements from the printout... a little imagination has to be used in places but it worked for me...

I got the original idea from a picture on Pinterest... I printed it out at the size that I wanted then took the measurements from that...woodturned mantle clock..
But someone else asked me for the dimensions so I produced a video short with the dimensions on it ... check it out on my video shorts...
