We just purchased a 2024 Traverse LT AWD Midnight Edition with bench center row (big family) we came from a 2020 Traverse. The 2024 is absolutely fantastic! However, I do miss the lower end torque in th V6. That's my only gripe. The 2.5T does better on the highway, but city driving is not as smooth in my opinion.
I would choose the traverse even though the cabin is not the most impressive nor the powertrain. But the ford has a bad reputation for being problematic. I’ve seen more issues with that than the traverse. I also think the chevy looks better. The front of the explore is funny looking to me.
so my question to. IN your perspective base model explorer 4 cylinder to chevys traverse which motor do you think is better. As for handling which is better
I love the looks of the Traverse and the GMC version.the thing is, ask tow truck drivers, these things are pretty terrible. Then the explorer has all kinds of recalls, but at least it’ll get you to the dealer. Ugh, but the interior is so much nicer in the GM… But the explorer is rear wheel drive and the dynamics are better. Screw it! Does anyone have an old Xterra with a six speed manual they want to sell?

Good video. The only thing I would say is the motor that's in the Chevy is a All new motor so I would go with the Ford because it's been around longer. I don't trust new motors 🙂
Traverse is better for someone who needs spaces but doesn't care about how it drives. And explorer is better for some who care about driving but also need practicality.
I'd take either but partial to the Ford feel and way of doing things. We had a 14 Traverse that had some pretty flimsy interior quality; nothing major, more of a death by a thousand paper cuts. I love my 21 F150 3.5 Ecoboost. Both brands have some reliability issues that are a concern -- I'd get online and purchase a discounted Ford or GM extended warranty if I planned to keep it beyond the regular warranty period. Unfortunately there's nothing else in the segment that would appeal to me as good as these two.
Go back and look at the 2011 Ford Explorer and then look at the 2025 Explorer. Ford just slapped on a new front end, rear end and some other tweaks. Same goes with the interior. I'm sure the dash and door panels still click in the same spots. Talking about stretching profits...
Got to he Chevy about a month ago (got rid of the Jeep GC) been great so far. Not that I use it but the Chevy will park itself. Does the ford ? Also a fan of the ambient lighting in the Chevy
I think if Chevy put their 3.1L v6 in there with a turbo making let’s say 370hp with the 8 speed transmission then they’d have a much more solid power train. To me a 4cyl in a vehicle this size may not have the longevity. Even naturally aspirated would be better in my opinion then the 4cyl. The fuel economy is already not very good. May as well offer the larger engine. Both seem like really nice vehicles for families. I have a 2017 explorer Limited with the 3.5L v6 and love it.
I’ve driven a lot of SUV and I’d pick the explorer over any one. It has a good navigational system than the rest, more luxurious, and the driving experience is much more exciting than any of the SUV in that price point. Now as for reliability when you can afford a car at this price point. I don’t think it really matters because you probably have enough money to maintain it. Or just decide to buy a whole new one after you get lots of problems.
I'd take the Explorer. It has the power and it does not have the fuel pump module issue that so many of the GM vehicles are having. My only complaint with the Explorer is the price and the interior to some degree.
@@AlrounderrrrChevrolets are reliable, and you cannot group all *gm* products as a monolith and the same. With that logic Ford has more recalls than all four *gm* brands combined. What's really strange about that is MB doesn't even charge half that price for the their "designo" paint options. Ford likely overcharged so they don't have to build as many.
The difference in tech, quality, reliability and resale value should tell you A LOT about these two companies. They used to be rivals but they are very different these days.
Yeah, the ford should only be compared to the grand Cherokee L. Both being RWD based. I do see the point of comparing the Chevy vs ford though since they technically are competition

I miss the days of just having 5 seater proper SUV’s, cool station wagons, small SUV’s that didn’t number in the 100’s (CR-V, RAV4, Forester, Chevy Tracker, Sportage ect) and the moms had the minivans. Everything is so muted and morphed into the same vehicle. Love your content guys!
True. The Explorer front end looks weird now. The previous gen looked better, had a better designed grill, and even the 21 inch ST rims gave it character
I was leaning toward Chevy, but recently had a conversation with my trusted auto body shop guys and they did NOT recommend Chevy or any GM or Kia or Hyundai. They even had a 2017 chevy in the shop to replace an engine. Your reliability rating does not align with what they have seen come through they shop
Great job. However, the way you allocate points is inconsistent. The Chevy 2.5 litre engine will not hold up as well as the 3.0 litre in the Explorer, so the resale value is not accurate due to the new untested Chevy engine. Also, the Explorer has the 2.3 litre engine that can get 28mpg highway that crushes the Chevy and is a very proven engine. I sold trucks for both Ford and Chevy and Chevy always has more repair issues on the small engines than Ford.
👍👍👍 both beautiful but definitely TRAVERSE. cheaper, bigger, better hands free, an acute all new design and vehicle, more attractive, better resale & more reliable. That's alot for the money. Fords having more recalls than any other brand is insane. And the Explorers body is still the same. It needs a full refresh, not just a new front face & new tail lights. No. Chevy ❤
Push the auto button and all ya have to do is adjust the temperature so what's the need for a physical button? Do you really touch those buttons that much?
Chevy really missed the mark with that 4 banger engine. If they'd have stuck with a 6, I think it would easily best the Explorer overall. But the engine alone makes the Explorer a far better choice, imho.
@@CRVgarage Doesn't make it right. I've driven several larger vehicles with those little 4 bangers and they simply don't have the power that larger vehicles need. Sure, they make them go forward, but it's just a sad experience with anything less than a V6. Kid...

GM will get a hard no from me until they bring back CarPlay and Android Auto which they only took away so they can sell you subscriptions. Screw them.
That is only in the EV platform.
@@kevinkrug3630 Huh, you’re right, I didn’t catch that caveat. They’re still getting a hard no from me until they reverse that decision though.
Excellent comparison video.. guys
Love from India🇮🇳
I’ve driven a lot of SUV and I’d pick the explorer over any one. It has a good navigational system than the rest, more luxurious, and the driving experience is much more exciting than any of the SUV in that price point. Now as for reliability when you can afford a car at this price point. I don’t think it really matters because you probably have enough money to maintain it. Or just decide to buy a whole new one after you get lots of problems.
Also I find both have about the same of reliability in terms of electrical and components these cars are made to last only 5 years
Ford Explorer all the way. 5 inch difference in length. Can't compare. My two cents. Explorer much more comfortable and quiet.
Traverse is way more appealing. Looks stunning & is spacious inside.
I'd take the Explorer. It has the power and it does not have the fuel pump module issue that so many of the GM vehicles are having. My only complaint with the Explorer is the price and the interior to some degree.
lol, Ford is unreliable and so is Chevy, get QX60 instead
Infiniti just put its very problematic VC-Turbo into the QX60 and it loses power against the sturdy VQ V6.
@@AlrounderrrrChevrolets are reliable, and you cannot group all *gm* products as a monolith and the same. With that logic Ford has more recalls than all four *gm* brands combined. Have you forgot all the Explorer and Aviators Ford was forced to buy back due to major electronic gremlins and other issues?
Love your videos. What do you do with your donuts
Explorer all the way
Another consumer’s comment under a Transmission Failure thread:
[ A new comment has been posted on Some 2024 Chevy Traverse, Blazer And Trailblazer Units To Get Transmission Fix by Mrs.:
“Bought a 2024 Trailblazer freshly delivered, zero miles. Had less than 1k miles on it, not even a month when we had to take it back. First it was the turbo (3x), then this last time they said it was the fuel injector. The car has been with the dealership since the first of June. Supposedly waiting on the fuel injector. After reading this article, I think it's waiting on the transmission. I believe my husband may have called it and the dealership won't own up to it.” ]
Explorer. The all black ST looks so aggressive.
Explorer all the way. The Traverse has a blender for a power plant that will not make it to 100k
Chevy traverse the ford explorer is too small and I see y'all are in a genesis gv80 3.5 prestige 2024
When comparing vehicles please include a shot of the yellow door sticker of each showing the cargo carrying capacity .
2:55 $5,000 for that is crazy
What's really strange about that is MB doesn't even charge half that price for the their "designo" paint options. Ford likely overcharged so they don't have to build as many.
yeah i’d just get it wrapped or painted separately.
Nearly 60k for a big a$$ suv with a 4 cylinder engine is nastyyy workkk Chevy
@@dynamicremakes5592that's what I'm saying 🤦♂️
The difference in tech, quality, reliability and resale value should tell you A LOT about these two companies. They used to be rivals but they are very different these days.
Yeah, the ford should only be compared to the grand Cherokee L. Both being RWD based. I do see the point of comparing the Chevy vs ford though since they technically are competition
@@Natethegreat200cboth have f’ed up quality. So apples to apples
I’m born in 85’ and the Explorer it is for me.
Thanks!
Great job guys.
Thanks!
Ford better , more luxury, V6, power.
Like I’ve said before, the Traverse’s tail lights remind me of the Toyota Sienna
Why is the Ford Platinum badge crooked? Geez.
No smile meter for the explorer?
Holy that Explorer looks nice
Why are there so many bots😭😭😭
Maybe you can check how solid the center console is.
Grill looks awkward now on the explorer imo
Agreed. I have a 21 Explorer, and they should’ve kept the grill design.
That's what I thought at first but the more I see them the more I like them.
True. The Explorer front end looks weird now. The previous gen looked better, had a better designed grill, and even the 21 inch ST rims gave it character
Ford -150 is the best because it costs more than Chevrolet
Traverse looks good but towing capacity is a huge downside. I'd rather get a Nissan Pathfinder with the V6
Chevy priced overprice compared because it still only has 4cyl even with same mpg? Maybe compare highest trim on 4cyl explorer price.
And you should have used the ST Explorer with 400hp and blacked out rims
Nive animation of the video but for the sound use the same music and track to catching better the difference...god jub guys
traverse needs to just add the PHEV stuff to it to make more horse power and SUN SHADES!! WHY IS IT NOT INCLUDES IN A THIRD ROW?????
What about the ST vs RS?
👍👍👍 both beautiful but definitely TRAVERSE. cheaper, bigger, better hands free, an acute all new design and vehicle, more attractive, better resale & more reliable. That's alot for the money. Fords having more recalls than any other brand is insane. And the Explorers body is still the same. It needs a full refresh, not just a new front face & new tail lights. No. Chevy ❤
I'm not sure why black wheels are the it thing again. They take away from the vehicle imo..
What the Heck GM dropped the V-6… Never Fails GM always doing TOO MUCH!👎🏽
Chevy Traverse 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Did the explorer have physical buttons for climate control? That should be at least half a point for the traverse.
Push the auto button and all ya have to do is adjust the temperature so what's the need for a physical button? Do you really touch those buttons that much?
Traverse for me it has 7 or 8 seats as well
Explorer wins by a Front Foglamp.
What happens when you have a tire blow out with no hands on the steering wheel?
umm ya grab the wheel. LOL are you putting your hands in your pocket?😂🤣😂
Chevy Traverse all the way!!
Chevy really missed the mark with that 4 banger engine. If they'd have stuck with a 6, I think it would easily best the Explorer overall. But the engine alone makes the Explorer a far better choice, imho.
Turbo 4 is used across the industry kid. Even pickups.
@@CRVgarage Doesn't make it right. I've driven several larger vehicles with those little 4 bangers and they simply don't have the power that larger vehicles need. Sure, they make them go forward, but it's just a sad experience with anything less than a V6.
Kid...
