A better list of criteria for this segment would be:
    1. Storage/interior space
    2. Safety & family friendliness
    3. Comfort (ergonomics & road noise)
    4. Reliability
    5. Luxury & technology

Reliability should be a category! A lot of your top models wouldn't rank as high. For example, Hyundai gives a lot of fancy features, but the engine in that vehicle is a dinosaur. It comes from that "NOT SO GREAT" kia/hundai era!

I was surprised to see the Ford Explorer even made the list. The Explorer ranks last or next to last in reliability. I can attest to that, my previous employer had 15 Explorers in their fleet. They spent more time at the dealer than in our lot, and the ones that remained and all had some type of warning lights in the center cluster. I agree it was nice to drive but I absolutely would not purchase one to use as a family vehicle. I was assigned one as a take home vehicle and drove it like I payed for it and completed all the required maintenance and still it proved unreliable, other than that I kinda agree with your rankings, thanks for your 3 row SUV comparison.

I love watching your videos but I couldn’t agree less with these assessments!! I just drove the 2024 models highest trim for Atlas, 2023 traverse (bc they don’t have a 2024 model), Telluride, Pilot, Highlander and Grand Cherokee. Hands down, the 2024 Pathfinder Platinum was the most comfortable, best tech/comfort with features, 80 cubic ft storage, but also sporty and stylish. Incredible car, by far the best from those we drove. We ended up purchasing white w/black trim Platinum model. Insanely great car, plus safest for children!!

    • @michaelmi7903

I have the new pathfinder and love it, but I can understand why it didn't make the top 10. It's third row and cargo space are smaller than anything on this list aside from the Highlander. Only one engine option knocks it down, along with the 8 or 9 inch screen options. I do agree that it's exterior aesthetics is probably best in class (this is of course totally subjective), and the interior is nicely laid out and functional.
All that said, I think it's just too small for a family that will regularly use a third row.

    • @CarConfections
      @CarConfections  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

Thank you... Don't get us wrong, we still really like the Pathfinder! It's just that with 2 of the 5 categories emphasizing space, that is the Pathfinders weakest area. Everyone has different priorities but we just tried to pick the 5 most important ones to the average customer 👍

    • @michaelmi7903

@@CarConfections yep, as a 2022 pathfinder owner I totally agree with your assessment. We're a family of 5 and the pathfinder is the smaller of our 2 SUVs. That's not to say it doesn't work as a 3 row SUV, there are just numerous, far better options in the segment for size & space.

NEW YORK, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T) reached a settlement potentially worth $150 million to resolve U.S. class-action litigation tied to recalls of about 3.36 million Toyota and Lexus vehicles whose defective fuel pumps could cause engines to stall.
A preliminary settlement was filed on Wednesday night in federal court in Brooklyn. It requires a judge's approval.
The settlement covers owners and lessees of dozens of Toyota and Lexus vehicle models manufactured in the 2013 to 2020 model years and equipped with Denso low-pressure fuel pumps.
Honda Recalls: Brake and Rearview Camera Defects
Honda recently issued recalls for various models due to brake and rearview camera defects. These recalls address potential safety hazards that can result in accidents and injuries.
Unexpected Loss of Brake Function: Honda recalled over 124,000 Civic, Passport, and Pilot vehicles, including certain model year 2020-2021 Civic, 2020-2023 Ridgeline, 2021-2023 Passport, 2021-2022 Pilot, and 2020 Acura MDX vehicles. The recall was prompted by concerns that the vehicles could experience an unexpected loss of brake function, increasing the risk of a crash.
Defective Brake Holds: Another recall impacted nearly 400 model year 2023 Civic, Accord, Acura RDX, and Acura Integra vehicles. These vehicles were manufactured with defective brake holds, leading to potential movement while the brake hold is activated. Honda plans to notify impacted vehicle owners by mail, starting from July 24.
Rearview Camera Concerns: Honda recalled over 1.1 million Odyssey, Pilot, and Passport vehicles due to defective rearview cameras that may not display properly. This recall applies to model year 2018-2023 Honda Odyssey, 2019-2022 Honda Pilot, and 2019-2023 Honda Passport vehicles. A non-functional rearview camera can compromise the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
      Class Action Lawsuits against Honda
In addition to the recalls, Honda is facing class action lawsuits that allege serious defects in its vehicles' components.
Variable Timing Control Actuator Defect: A class action lawsuit filed against Honda claims that the automaker knowingly sold vehicles with defective variable timing control actuators. The alleged defect, affecting model year 2012-2014 CR-Vs, 2012 Accords, and 2012-2015 Crosstours, can lead to catastrophic engine failure and poses a safety hazard.
Defective Electric Power Steering Systems: Two separate class action lawsuits were filed against Honda, asserting that model year 2022-2023 Honda Civic vehicles were manufactured with defective electric power steering systems. These systems may "stick," requiring an increase in steering effort, leading to overcorrections and potential collisions.
Electric Braking System Sticking: Another class action lawsuit argues that Honda sold model year 2022-2023 Honda Civic vehicles with electric braking systems that can stick at highway speeds. This alleged defect can cause vehicle owners to overcorrect, increasing the risk of collisions.

Thank you for the video! I would suggest you ask your audience who are interested in buying these cars what their top 5 categories are. When you look at this category of a 3 row SUV, the largest segment of buyers are families with children. I would then change the category of luxury to reliability. If you wanted a luxury 3 row SUV, there are far better ones that are not listed here which I completely understand. I am sure you guys will likely do a video for luxury SUV's at some point. Families who are buying these cars will want to know how much it will cost to maintain and not spend time in the shop for repairs. I would be interested to hear if you did make this change from luxury to reliability how you would rank these SUVs. Thank you for taking the time to read my opinion and keep up the good work.

Stop complaining about the Honda Pilot’s infotainment display 4:45, like that is the most pedantic thing to get upset over, safety and reliability is way more important. Nobody with working brain cells cares if a 9inch display is smaller than a 10inch display, the important thing is if this $50000 car will last the next 20 years

Great video guys. Honestly, the GMC Acadia should be compared with other luxury 3 row SUVs. If the Lexus TX is gonna be the only vehicle of its size to be in the midsize luxury suv category without the redesigned GMC Acadia, you might as well move the TX to compete with the full size Category due to the 3rd row space and cargo volume rivaling other full size suvs too besides the extra length american ones

I appreciate your efforts to sort out these 3-row SUVs. I agree with your ordering, but as you said, some people will have different priorities, and for me, a 2nd row bench seat is a requirement *as well as* all the bells and whistles of the top-trim offerings. That reduces my options to exactly *three* of the options in your list: Explorer, Pilot and Atlas (I've heard Atlas offers what I want but I've never checked it out because of the poor reliability - Explorer does, but reliability removes it from my list.) Are you guys aware of any other 3-row unibody SUVs that meet my criteria? I think Pathfinder is also available in top trim with a 2nd-row bench seat but once again the reliability is just not there. We'll see about the Traverse and Acadia, but given that Tahoe 2nd row seats are captains chairs in top trims, I expect the same for both these two.

The Hyundai and Kia used to be the top 2, but the newly redesigned products from GM are seriously exceptional. I also think that the new Grand Highlander is a great option as well. I was surprised the CX90 was so early in the list considering the luxury it offers and the features that it offers, but definitely agree it may not be the most practical. The GMC got last place this year, but think that with the redesign, it could score #1. The new model is honestly amazing.

They take into account price. Hyundai/KIA will always win because they offer so much more for the price. I can bet you thousands that the new GMC Acadia will surpass 60K loaded. @@reneerozic4999 yeah, unfortunately a lot of my family members have purchased VWs in the last 15 years as they were getting good deals on them, turns out first 4 to 5 years were alright but after that the engine started having issues and so did the transmission and air conditioning, and that’s not the worst part. Any car can have issues BUT VWs are not great as after sales service providers. Parts are expensive ( compared to Japanese or American brands) and they lack expertise in zeroing in on a problem. My brother in law had an engine seizure just 4 years after buying a new Golf and Vw straight up refused to acknowledge any issue with the engine and put forth a giant bill that he had to foot as there was no other option.
My colleague has an older VW Tiguan and it is riddled with issues of suspension, electronics, body work and the car is not super old , I mean its from 2007 or so and is always parked in a garage and is driven gently by a 50 year old .
