This refresh is just so sweet. Design wise this is one of the few vehicles in general and the only vehicle in this segment that I don’t have a single issue with. Aesthetically this is my ideal SUV.
Thanks to the guys from Ford for spending time with Andre. You've done something very special with this Explorer. I'm proud of Ford. Thanks for walking us through it. 🎉
My 25 is in production at present. Can’t wait to get mine delivered. There are multiple trim types. They showed the higher trim in this video but there are lower priced trim types so you can have a version with less bells and whistles so there are trims to meet multiple price points.
The Ford digital experience should be free for the life of the car. We shouldn't have to pay a monthly fee to use it. This is making me rethink my next vehicle choice.
That is an absolute beauty. If I could afford an ST model, I would get one, and that color is phenomenal. 400hp in an AWD platform with that power train adjustability will be amazing as a daily. The interior is gorgeous. IF OLD HENRY COULD SEE THIS HE'D SMILE. Well done, Ford. That white one is badass too.
TFL, thanks for the information on the new 2025 Explorer. However, I think there are other more important questions that should have been asked and not just feed honey to your audience. Why not ask the Ford team how and if they have addressed all of the powertrain issues and recall issues the 2020-2024 versions had. This would give much more and better confidence of this new design. I have a 2020 and had to have the transmission and transfer case replaced due to those very well known issues. Disappointed.
Body color instead of black trim would look mucho better. Wife bought one 2 days ago. Overall not bad. My hellcat durango kicks its ass good and proper though ;o) and I can tow 8700lbs.
$60K. No, no, no!!! As a prior owner of ‘96 and 2000 4wd Explorers…I just can’t see myself doing it. Probably the nicest looking of anything available these days though. Especially the ST.
We took our 2021 explorer ST to Moab on the Gemini trail… wouldn’t suggest but lol we red neck’d it! We stopped there on our way to the ford explorer ST performance experience in park city Utah 17:33
Sure hope Ford has figured out all of the electrical gremlins that has plagued the Explorer since the 2020 redesign. Just one example is the back-up camera and the blue screen of death. Unbelievable that a car maker of over a hundred years still has recurring problems that take multiple years to fix. I've owned Fords since 1976. My current one that will be traded in next year will be my last for a very long time.
Another excellent video. I wish Ford would rename the “ST Line”. That name is too close to the “ST” and it’s causing some customer confusion, plus it diminishes the sportier ST name.
I would love to see this specific model in South Africa, something around the 1.4 mil Zar range. Divide that by 18 to convert to usd. The ranger raptor is very popular here, so I reckon the explorer ST with the same engine will sell.
There are so important and useful questions you could have asked to the ford tech. For example does the ST come with a BENCH as a 2nd row? In USA there is no such option for now but in Canada there is. Will there be? Another example is what are the plans for Europe? Will they roll this as a PHEV like they did with the previous model? I can think 50 questions that would benefit everyone instead you spend so much time and the value added for the clients and audience is much below any expectation
I don’t want an IPad interface to control basic frequently used functions for my car! Can I adjust fan speed or temperature without taking my eyes off the road? Does the ‘digital experience’ work without gloves? I think not - 100% pass.
With a tow rating of 5600, you think you might be able to tow 5000 with no problem. When its 5000, youre more like 4000- 4500. Ive towed my 20' glastron with my wive's Timberline and that thing worked really hard with stop and go. Mainly the go with the 2.3. It makes sense to bring that number down from my experience.
You're usually safe using the 80% rule. My '15 Canyon was rated @ 7k, but all my toys were around 5-5.5k. For long distances, I wouldn't go much higher than that.
My Ranger with the 2.3L EB towed 5,500 pounds over the Cumberland mountains in Tennessee without serious issue. 300 pounds of people in the front seat, 100 pounds of stuff in the back seat, 400 pounds of tools in the bed. With the same load in the truck, but not towing it downshifts to 8th a few times. With the trailer it downshifted to 7th a few times and 6th once. I had the cruise set to 65 the whole time and it never dropped below 62. If I were going over the Rockies it might have been more of an issue, but the speed limits are much lower so it probably would have been fine. But there was almost no stop and go. 2 miles to get on the Interstate, 200 miles on the Interstate, 4 miles when I got off.
Dropping the tow rating while making the car more expensive just makes the Grand Cherokee look better to me. And those tailpipes are insulting to everyone with eyes.
Exactly! When I heard the Explorer was going back to RWD architecture, I was excited that something would finally compete with the Durango and grand Cherokee towing with a crossover. But nope. I guess I’ll go by the Durango. That’s on a 20-year-old platform.
@slscamg If only the Durango weren't so ugly on the inside and made with materials that age like milk. Ford should just keep the Explorer tow rating at parity with the Ranger. The Germans have mid-size crossovers that tow 4 tones, why not the Americans.
it would be nice to have climate control right under the screen as Physical controls (in case the screen is acting out for any reason), and also quick easy press without looking, and not needing to look at or focus on the screen... .... also, I'm reading that Ford Digital Experience requires a monthly fee? Does that include Apple CarPlay or Android Auto? Do we have to pay a monthly fee to have access to our Google Maps / Apple Maps from our phone, or the vehicle's Navigation System ?
In this digital/connected age of vehicles, spending a little time on privacy and security would be much appreciated. Not nearly enough attention is being paid to the data flowing out of vehicles and into the hands of companies that have a variety of purposes for that data.
The exhaust tips turn down like that to help keep the exhaust gasses from getting trapped at the rear of the car. They had a TSB on the previous generation explorer to add exhaust turn downs.
Your customers WANT a three row hybrid explorer tuned for efficiency. You already took the CMax away which was the best car you guys made. The Escape hybrid is nice but ride share drivers would love a 3 row with 35:+ MPG
@icanmanifest As he said, some people loved the hybrid. But not enough people bought it to keep supplying through retail. A lot of what the engineer said implies that they're targeting the 80% customer for every feature. A very myopic attitude because the majority of buyers are probably a 90% customer in at least 1 aspect. If everyone were an 80% customer, the Tesla Modely Y would be the only car
@@rightwingsafetysquad9872 The other issue is they didn't tune that hybrid to get very good gas mileage. It was barely an improvement over the non-hybrid model. When you have Highlanders running around getting close to 40 miles per gallon you need to rethink your strategy. Toyota can't sell enough of them.
Its a nice looking SUV but has looked the same for what 12 years now? The good part about not changing much is you can pick up a used one for a fraction of the cost and it will still kinda look like the new ones.
Honestly they ruined the rims too…the 20” blacked out rims on the first gen looked much better especially in white or red..I had the white St 21” and the rims popped with the other black accents..this gun metal grey is not it imo
There is always something, I see it on youtube all the time. Don't get me wrong, I drive a ford everest and love it. May be it is the toyota fan boys making sure they make a fuzz about every small issue with ford😉
I bought my first Ford Explorer and it was only 18,000. The ST is now marked four times as much not worth it. Not much is changed on the platform of this Ford Explorer in the last 10 years, but they’re over pricing this vehicle out of the reach of people who needed it. Installing an iPad on the dash does not give it value. You say you’re listening to the customers, but you’re not. The first Ford representative that was talking, kept looking away as he’s talking, which indicate that he’s lying about everything.
So my deal on this is if the touch control panel you operate the AC and other things for some reason goes out. This will cripple the whole system because like other vehicles with buttons, this has only a touch screen in which to operate the basics of this vehicle. I'm a right or is there a way you can override this in order to get the A/C to work among other things to get you safely home???? Ford you need a back-up and also these quad exhausts are rather stupid in design. They either really work or they are fake.
The ever expanding grills on these vehicles is ridiculous. At least it's not as bad as the new Tundra which is one giant grill with headlights on either side 🙄
hi TFL TEAM i really like you guys but please dont recommend the highroad because i have a ford escape hybrid 2009 it has only 46000 miles and my car has no issue at all its run and drive clean title and they offer me only $180
The base model exists. It's still not cheap though. But why would they make a cheap one when almost everyone who wants that would buy used anyway. Also, most of this tech is cheap, which is why it's standard on most Asian cars. Their margins on it are crazy.
@@major3477There are a few reasons. Less worry about your car needing major maintenances and repair for a few years. Which means less time without your car. Thanks to the guys from Ford for spending time with Andre. You've done something very special with this Explorer. I'm proud of Ford. Thanks for walking us through it. 🎉
Agreeda this is very good deep dive in! Im also happy they went to rear wheel and kept the v6!
$5000 to paint the roof black, yeah very proud.
Agree!
Id love to see their internal numbers on customer feedback regarding digital screen hvac controls. Ive never talked to anyone who likes them.
Glad they got rid of that vertical screen too. It was not integrate well and looked off
I had 2 of the previous gen STs and loved every minute driving them when they weren’t in the shop. Moved to an f150, but really like the redesign.
My 25 is in production at present. Can’t wait to get mine delivered. There are multiple trim types. They showed the higher trim in this video but there are lower priced trim types so you can have a version with less bells and whistles so there are trims to meet multiple price points.

People typically looking at ford other trucks and mustangs are looking for inexpensive not monthly subscriptions! lol smh ford

I'm excited to get a 2024 or the new 2025 ford explorer st for sure. I currently have a 2012 ford explorer xlt awd. I need a upgrade

I wish any vehicle with over 3000 - 3500 pounds of towing would be equipped with a brake controller.
I support this
I am sure it is integrated into the driver controls etc
Don't care too much for the exterior, but the interior is so nice. I love it.

Great video Andre. Looking forward to other versions, hopefully Timberline. Need to lease another in 2025
when you buy the 2025 platinum series with the 3.0 motor .Does it handle as good as the ST

Why not have leather seats in the ST? I haven’t seen them yet but seems odd to have cloth seats in the most expensive trim.
Agreed. And maybe some different color options for interior. Leather is key for family owned vehicles
The actual st trim is leatherette and Alcantara.
I don’t want an IPad interface to control basic frequently used functions for my car! Can I adjust fan speed or temperature without taking my eyes off the road? Does the ‘digital experience’ work without gloves? I think not - 100% pass.

Ford should try again with Explorer PHEV in Europe. Just put heat pump and larger battery. To have like 100km summer range at least and 60km winter.
Proud of Ford. Why? Because we are Americans.

I hope the adjusted Police interceptor transmission because it is incredibly delayed as opposed to the previous model and the sedan
Wow, $60k, but can’t get usb c chargers on both sides of cabin. Bulky interior. Who still uses WebEx? 😂 yikes! Great video guys!
At 44:17 my own Google speaker at home told me a joke 😂
You should ask the engineers this, after building a car for that long and keeping the same engine's why they still have issues.
What "issues"?
There is always something, I see it on youtube all the time.
Don't get me wrong, I drive a ford everest and love it. May be it is the toyota fan boys making sure they make a fuzz about every small issue with ford😉
We only need vehicle that we arrive from point A to point B safe and simple.
Here's what I want to know - why do we not get the Ford Everest? Is it because we're saddled with this unibody Exploder?
The cities love the hybrid explorers, the actual cops who drive them hate them almost as much as the Tahoe and it’s transmission
Not in our dept
$1600 to ship from Chicago!? Give me a break!!!
My first thought of the interior…the center stack looks like a urinal 🫤
Some people and their weird imagination.
Still has some same carry over parts like the interior door handles and the steering wheel looks the same.
Always been good looking vehicle. Just buy the extended bumper to bumper for it. 😵💫
shoulda ask him what were they thinking with the vertical screen
Great…now outsource the transmission to ZF. I have the 2.3 version and yea no to the transmission
about the volume and demand on the hybrids.......lies. battery supply IMO is the issue
